When you're planning a trip to the beach, what all do you need? Of course, you've got to pack a beach towel, a sexy bathing suit, a beach cover-up, a floppy hat, fabulous sunglasses, loads of sunscreen, a book or gossip mag, and ... a pedicure! You can't slide into your flip-flops without gorgeous toes, can you?

Here at StyleDash, we have some specific ideas about the colors that should be worn at the beach. We're fans of this year's popular dark shades, and we also like French pedicures as well as soft, pale colors. However, when you're digging your toes in the sand, there's only one way to go with your toenail polis -- bright!

Whether you prefer pink, red, coral, or something else, you can definitely find a bright version of your favorite. We've got some of our favorites, but we want to know -- what color do you wear when you hit the beach?

Why aren't you wearing this? Bisou Bisou Patent Clutch

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Must Haves

Bright patent clutches are a must this summer, but not everyone can afford the hefty price tag that comes along with some of the designer versions. Plus, when you're getting something in a fabulously bright color, it would be nice to have it in a variety of colors to work with lots of different outfits.

The tackiest necklace you can buy for $200

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News

I fondly recall spending afternoons playing with My Little Pony and Hot Wheels. Often, that would turn into an afternoon of snapping together beads to create brightly colored necklaces for myself and my stuffed animals. Those were great days.

But, I was five years old, and I wasn't really thinking about fashion.

Alter Ego jewelry, designed by a misguided an enterprising 18-year-old in California, brings things like vintage toys and bright beads together to create a truly unique look that, theoretically, adults would wear. Oh, and also, that adults would pay $50 to $200 to wear.

I get the idea -- it's quirky and fun, and I suppose it might work for fashion-forward pre-teens, but don't expect to see me wearing it any time soon. Or ever.

Retro Princess: White and bright

Filed under: Stores We Love, Clothing, Vintage and Retro, Jeans, Dresses

Cinched Front Top in orange, $17.80Spring is here. Let's get out some white clothes.

This spring, white is hot. Jeans, dresses, and tops for men and women. For casual sophistication without looking overly preppy, pair a solid, bright white (no ivory) piece with something brightly colored. The result is bold, crisp, and if you're female, very Retro Princess chic.

Remember all the jewel tones this winter? Well, you can pair them with white to make them look fresh. You can also go hunting for bright clothes in the newest spring styles, like the above cinched front top in orange from Forever21, which I'd pair with slim white pants.

Beware the washed-out, muted colors that Forever21 and H&M tend to overstock, though. Go for pizazz. One company with their finger on the pulse of bright colors that sing? Uniqlo.

Whether you'll be lounging on a catamaran or just going to work, solid white with bright is a safe, stylish way to go!

How to wear neon (because it's like, totally back)

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Jeans, Dresses

According to the Glamour Fashion Blog (and apparently Parisian women), neon colors are back -- specifically acid green. I don't know about you, but I remember this trend from the first time around. Fortunately, at that point, I was tan, blonde, thin ... and a kid, and therefore I didn't really care about whether it was flattering. I only cared that it was cool.

My sense of personal style has evolved (somewhat) since then, and while I'm actually kind of excited about neon colors being acceptable again, I'm also nervous about how to wear them. I'm pretty sure acid green isn't the most flattering color for me.
