L.L. Bean: Footwear

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Shoes, Jeans, Men, Kids and Babies, Style for a Cause, Green Fashion

L.L. Bean is one of those companies that make a bit of everything. However, don't make the assumption that they are a jack of all trades, master of none, instead consider the full phrase which continues, though ofttimes better than master of one. Thanks, Wikipedia!

L.L. Bean is focused on the outdoors. They make everything from kayaks to baby strollers, tents to sporks. Really. They also have a great line of footwear for the whole family that is as stylish as it is functional. Aesthetics are not sacrificed for performance, or vice versa.

The North Face is outside

Callin' out around the world,
Are you ready for a brand new beat?
Summer's here and the time is right
For dancin' in the streets.

With due respect to Martha and the Vandellas, summer, more or less, is here, and the time is right to get outside and enjoy it. Dancing is optional, but please watch for oncoming traffic.

Go camping in style with the gadget-friendly tent

Filed under: Haute Home, Events: On the Scene

Granted, "roughing it" and being stylish can seem a little contradictory. However, Eureka N!ergy Tent might just be the fashionable person's alternative to the traditional outdoors experience.

The main difference between this tent and the one in your garage is that comes with three 12-volt plugs. So, when you connect the tent to the Eureka E! Power Pack, you can power up your Blackberry, laptop, and whatever else you need to stay connected to everyone back in civilization. Or, presumably, anything else that runs off of 12-volts, like a hair dryer, toaster, etc.

Of course, some might say that bringing your beauty products or techno gadgets out into the wilderness defeats the purpose, and that may be true. I, however, have never been the camping type, but now that I know about the N!ergy Tent, I am seriously considering getting more in touch with nature.

Juicy Couture Camp Survival Kit - #5 Camp Essentials
My love/hate relationship with Juicy Couture turned to love about 8 months ago and to me those Juicy babes can do no wrong no matter how silly their product lines are. Case in point; the Juicy Couture Camp Survival Kit. Now every snooty rich kid that is forced off to camp can make the other campers feel like losers by showing off their designer camp gear.

What is in a camping survival kit anyway? For me it would be my Blackberry, a can of diet coke, a pack of gummy bears, and my YSL highlighter pen. For Juicy it is a pink camo drawstring bag to tote around all of your camping necessities. A pillow to rest your tired head, so much better than those germ ridden ones they force you to use on the camp grounds. Pink postcards to write home to mom and dad letting them know how much you love or hate them for shipping you off to camp. An address book and pen so you can keep in touch with your new friends, and of course a pink photo album so you can peg a name to a face. It gets hot and sticky out in the log cabin so a red translucent fan is a must have. Possibly the most important tool in the kit is the flashlight -- now you can stay up late reading US Weekly's and will have a nice beam of light to lead you down the dark woods to your bathroom in the ground.

Get one at Neiman Marcus for $95 and if the log cabin is booked and it's sleeping under the stars for you, you might need this too!

Happy camping.
