Angelina Jolie's Skin Care Secret?

I'm still not over the way Angelina Jolie looked at Cannes. The wavy hair, the full lips, but most notably, her radiant skin.

Her cheeks looked plump and highlighted, and her entire complexion glowed. It was a refreshing departure from the serious, matte look she usually opts for.

I wrote it off to makeup artist Mary Burton's handiwork, but a source told Grazia that something much more sinister sounding was behind it: A dermal roller.

This frightening-looking tool resembles a very small paint roller, only it's covered in tiny steel spikes. These devices are widely available from a number of different manufacturers, for both in-office and at-home use, but their appearance and aim is basically the same.

From the Fragrance Frontlines: Tea Party with Jitrois, Perfect Rose Gardens, and Paris Hilton in Cannes

Senior Fashion Editor Sarah Cristobal has been on assignment in France to discover what goes into creating the world's top fragrances. Read her previous blogs about traveling to perfumeries in Paris, and observations about the ooh la la of French culture.

The Axe experience didn't end with learning how their leather-inspired fragrance, Instinct, is made. We got to talk leather with the premier stretch leather couturier of France, Jean-Claude Jitrois at the Cafe de la Paix. He arrived in a black blazer of his own design with a matching razor tie and -- vis-à-vis his translator -- explained the following:

1) He enjoys the psychology of dressing and what it says about a person. As he said this, he looked around the room and we all attempted to suck in our stomachs and avert his fixed glare.

Cannes Closes in Style With 'Coco Chanel and Igor Stravinsky'

Anna Mouglalis (who plays Coco Chanel) wears CHANEL for the movie's premiere (left) and press junket (right). Photo by Olivier Borde

Have you gotten your fill of CHANEL on-screen yet? Neither have we, so we're thrilled that yet another Coco Chanel story has been brought to life. This time, it's the story of Chanel and Igor Stravinsky's love affair, and was the film that closed this year's Cannes Film Festival in true French style.

The star of the film, Anna Mouglalis (Coco Chanel), was dressed in head to toe CHANEL for the premiere and press junket. Mouglalis was positively radiant in a green dress specially made for her by Karl Lagerfeld for CHANEL, accessorizing with two "C Signature" necklaces and a "Haute Couture" bracelet. Even her makeup was done by CHANEL.

For the press junket, Mouglalis wore a ladylike navy lace embroidered dress from the CHANEL Spring/Summer 2009 Haute Couture collection.

We can't wait for it to come to a theater near us!

Sharon Stone's Mini Dress - Age Appropriate?

Sharon Stone has a rockin' bod, that's no secret, but does a killer physique mean a 51-year-old woman should wear a dress that looks like it belongs on Blake Lively?

Admittedly, we are totally jealous of her thighs, and legs in general, and the glitzy getup is less revealing than her infamous scene in "Basic Instinct." Still the question remains -- is this micro mini dress age appropriate?

Stone has never been one to follow the fashion rules. Need we remind you of the Gap tee she paired with a Valentino skirt for the 1996 Oscars? Mr. Blackwell criticized the look, saying it "wasn't cute or funny." Though, it did leave a lasting impression.

What do you think of her hiked-up hemline?

Angelina Jolie is Just Peachy for Cannes Red Carpet

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at the Cannes premiere of "Inglourious Basterds." Photo by Getty Images

Taking a cue from partner Brad Pitt's pale pink Tom Ford suit worn earlier in the day, Angelina Jolie hit the Cannes red carpet in a flowing, pale, tea-rose chiffon Versace Atelier gown for the premiere of Pitt's movie "Inglourious Basterds." With her Versace accessories, long brunette locks in loose waves and her bright red lips, Jolie was every inch the glamorous Hollywood starlet. Even if she wasn't there to promote a film of her own.

(Brad looked pretty sharp, too, in his Tom Ford Regency Satin Peak Lapel Evening Suit. Just in case you wondered.)

There was plenty of speculation among the fashion set regarding what Jolie would wear, with some sources guessing that she'd opt for a red carpet gown by Belstaff. This choice was soft and feminine with a draped motif on the bustier, although the up-to-there slit on the thigh added a healthy dose of sex appeal (not that sex appeal is hard for Angie to come by!).

We love it -- it's not too flashy (it is Brad's night, after all), yet is absolutely stunning!

Brad Pitt is in the Pink

Filed under: Men, Celebrities with Style

It takes a real man to wear pink. And since Brad Pitt is nothing if not a real man, it's no surprise that he absolutely owned the pale pink, two-piece "Spencer" suit by Tom Ford Menswear. He sported the pastel-hued ensemble at the Cannes photocall for his film "Inglourious Basterds."

Pitt paired his rosy suit with a crisp white shirt, gray cashmere scarf and brown loafers (very yacht-worthy), all from the Tom Ford Menswear collection. We have to admit, we didn't realize the color could look so manly.

Oh, and in case you were curious, Angelina was nowhere in sight, but we're still taking bets on what she'll wear on the red carpet tonight!

Cannes Beauty - The Dior Suite

A breathtaking seaside view. Photo courtesy of Dior.

Here's the thing about Cannes. While Sundance is known for its B-list gifting suites, where celebs get free jeans and rhinestone-encrusted PDAs, Cannes brings something else to the table -- the Dior Suite.

The ultra-private suite, given the kicky name Rendez-Vous Beauté DIOR, is where the Dior camp sets up shop to let A-list guests prepare, escape and unwind from the hubbub without being too far away from the action. The Dior Suite is located in the Majestic Hotel, which is the top hotel on the Croisette (where the premieres are held). You can actually hear the fans' screams from street level.

Angelina at Cannes - What Will She be Wearing?

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt at this year's Oscars. Photo by Getty Images

Forget the movies -- we love the Cannes Film Festival for the fashion! And like you, we're dying to see what a certain mother of six will be wearing for her man's premiere tomorrow night.

WWD reports that Angelina Jolie is rumored to wear a gown by Belstaff, who designed a military-style jacket for Brad Pitt's latest film, "Inglourious Basterds." Along with The Weinstein Co. and Universal, Belstaff is sponsoring the Quentin Tarantino flick's afterparty at Baoli Beach. Pitt's jacket will be on display with a number of other Belstaff items that are set to appear in other upcoming movies.

Angelina has a lot to live up to this year -- it was at Cannes last year that Jack Black accidentally broke the news that Brad and Angie were having twins, and the pregnant "Kung Fu Panda" star never looked lovelier. Will she stick with something equally feminine and flowing or opt for a more structured silhouette from Belstaff?

Maybe you have something else entirely in mind. What would you like to see Angelina wear on the red carpet for the "Inglourious Basterds" premiere?

Eva Herzigova - Cannes Sheer Delight?

Model Eva Herzigova has never been one to shy away from unique and sometimes risqué fashion, and her choice of this shimmery and very sheer Atelier Versace dress for the "Looking for Eric" premiere at Cannes was no exception.

In theory, we're positively mad about the glistening gown -- it's flattering (not that it's difficult to flatter Eva's figure), festive (note the mermaid-worthy paillettes) and goes perfectly with her Chopard earrings (which is what really matters, right?). She looks every bit the blonde bombshell.

Only problem, when the light hits (a thousand flash bulbs going off doesn't help!), the dress is as see-through as Saran Wrap, leaving little-to-nothing to the imagination.

Should this look be reserved for the runway? Or is Eva's fashion choice bold and daring? You be the judge!

Cannes Cam! The Best Beauty Moments So Far

Rachel Weisz, a true Hollywood starlet at Cannes. Photo courtesy of Getty Images.

Rachel Weisz keeps me on my feet. Instead of going the edgy route at the world's artiest film festival, Cannes, she turned up looking every ounce a Hollywood starlet. (Quick rewind: Three weeks ago, she rocked up to the Met Ball looking like a self-proclaimed "punk princess," goth lipstick and all.)

At the premiere of her new film, Agora, Weisz wowed me by nailing the three signatures of Old Hollywood glamour:

  • Long, wavy hair with loads of shine
  • A deep, perfectly articulated side part
  • A thick stroke of black eyeliner with multiple lashings of mascara

Eva Longoria Parker and Abbie Cornish - Cannes Frill Seekers

The Cannes Film Festival always offers leading ladies a chance to truly glam up, and two of the best examples of that are Eva Longoria Parker and Abbie Cornish. They epitomized the glamor of the French film festival with their amazing choices for the "Bright Star" premiere.

Abbie was lovely in a ruffled, lavender gown by Australian designer Toni Maticevski, while Eva's light blue Versace Atelier was resplendent with silver beading and voluminous gathers.

These ladies know how to pair drama and elegance for a red carpet event -- we can't wait to see what they wear next!

The Cannes Film Festival Kicks Off!

Ooh la la! The 62nd international film festival held in Cannes, France got off to a stylish start today when legendary actresses and jury members Sharmila Tagore, Robin Wright Penn (in Elie Saab Vintage Couture), Isabelle Huppert (this year's jury president), Asia Argento and Shu Qi posed for their photo call.

Celebrity enthusiasts might recall that it was Robin Wright Penn's soon-to-be-ex-husband Sean Penn who served as last year's jury president. (Among his tribunal was Natalie Portman, who he is now rumored to be dating.)

Dita Von Teese on underwear and vintage clothes

Filed under: Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Celebrities with Style

We were all excited when we heard that Dita Von Teese is partnering with Wonderbra to create a line of lingerie inspired by 40s and 50s underwear styles. It will be available any day now, and the suspense is killing us!

Dita knows a thing or two about anticipation, and keeping the fires stoked. In this video (pretty much safe for work) we catch a couple of glimpses of her wearing the new line, and swinging on a giant black bra (it will make sense when you see it.)

Even more exciting for us, she talks about someday maybe bringing out a line of vintage dress reproductions based on her fabulous personal collection. We would stand in line for days to get our hands on a copy of that green dress she wore to The Changeling premiere at Cannes. And if she does shoes, too? Thunk! (That was the sound of us swooning.) Even if they were wicked expensive, we'd sell our plasma if necessary! Please, some designer out there, do this with her!

In the gallery, a few of her gorgeous in gowns.

It's 5:30 in the morning on Tuesday in Los Angeles and as I'm writing this. I'm jet lagged as hell. I can't stay awake past 8:30pm and I keep waking up at dawn (which isn't the normal schedule of my lifestyle). All in all Cannes was a great trip. I really boosted up the portfolio. The gallery is a wrap up of my favorite images from the festival.

Angelina Jolie's competition for hottest mama honors

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

We caught some heat for pointing out that Angelina Jolie looked awful -- no really, just terrible -- in that grey dress at the Cannes premiere of her new film, Changeling, directed by Clint Eastwood.

That's fine. You're entitled to your opinions, and we love when you share them in the comments. Bring it on!

However, we also want to reiterate that our dismay was largely due to the fact that Angelina usually leads the pack when it comes to fashion fabulousness, even while pregnant.

She does have some competition. In the gallery, Angelina's best, plus nine ladies currently vying for the Hottest Mama, Summer 2008 title.
