Sex and the City designer Patricia Fields styles your wardrobe

Be honest: Do you ever really get sick of playing the "Which Sex And The City Woman Am I?" game? I used to be mostly Carrie, with a healthy dose of Charlotte and a nice dash of Samantha thrown in for spice. Now that I'm married, I'd say there's been an in increase in the Charlotte factor. I could go on...and I suspect that you could too.

Luckily, the mastermind behind the women's astonishing, character-defining fashions for the SATC series and the movie (as well as The Devil Wears Prada and many other hits), Patricia Field, has brought that level of chicness off the screen and, possibly, into your closet. And I got to meet with her! Now, I ask you: what does one wear for something like that? Answer: A Corey Lynn Calter "painted" blue dress. She liked it. It will now be in heavy rotation.

In a super short mini dress that showed off her flawless legs, Field was so nice and very thoughtful about her new one-off collection, Destination Style New York for HSN (buy items from this collection here). It's comprised of 50 pieces, and yes, each one evokes one of the characters. So if you're feeling a little bit more Miranda-esque today, no problem. The average price is -- get this -- only $75. And pieces come in sizes 2-16.

So what does Fields think is coming up next in the world of fashion? "Things are going to get sleeker, like Halston-era '70s with lots of solid color jerseys," she said (as I mentally prepared my next shopping must-haves).

Also: "Accessories, like gloves and hats, and leg adornments of all kinds. Things we haven't ever seen." She added: "Everything's getting simpler, so it's the person you see, not the embellishments on their clothes." Nice!

And what trend does she think is O-V-E-R? "Statement necklaces." From the lips of the Goddess of Style straight to your ears, you heard it here first.

Sarah Jessica Parker says shoes trump sex and men

(Click the photo to see which shoes are "better than sex")

We love it when life imitates art. Just like her wildly popular Sex and the City character, Carrie Bradshaw, Sarah Jessica Parker has a serious thing for shoes.

Why aren't you wearing this? Kenneth Cole Reaction Nite Off Sandal

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Celebrities with Style, Must Haves

The sandal is in the process of a style evolution. It began with the gladiator sandal -- when we first saw it a season or two (or three?) ago, it really seemed hard to wear. It was clunky and not terribly feminine, but now, of course, we love it. And so it's time to move on to the next stage.

More and more celebrities are sporting sexy sandals with a lot more material across the front than we were previously used to. Case in point: The Christian Dior Extreme Cutout Sandal, which was Carrie Bradshaw's shoe of choice in the SATC movie (and costs, depending on the material, $750 to $1000 or more).

Why aren't you wearing this? Over the Knee Argyle Socks

Filed under: Accessories, Celebrities with Style

Although we're loving summer at the moment, our fashion-forward minds are already getting excited about cool weather and hot fall trends. After all, who doesn't love shopping now for items you can't wear for three more months?

It goes without saying that some of the styles we saw in the Sex and the City movie should come with a "Don't try this at home" warning, and when we first saw these over the knee argyle socks (available for $14 at PatriciaField.com) on Carrie, we thought they were a prime example. But something made us take another look. And another. And, all of a sudden, we kind of love them.

Sex and the City, The Movie: The book review

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Books

You might be curious as to why the Sex and the City movie needs a book. It's as much about the fashions as it is about the plot, so what's there to read, right? Well, let us tell you -- a lot.

We received a copy of Sex and the City: The Movie from our friends at Harper Collins, who warned us that the book gives away the plot, so to be sure to see the movie first. This was totally true, so consider yourself warned.

Walk in heels like the ladies of Sex and the City

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Celebrities with Style

High heels are sexy -- no doubt. However, if you're not walking in them properly, the sexiness of the shoe won't matter -- everyone will be watching you and betting on how long it will take before you wipe out. Or, they'll be laughing at how awkward, clumsy, and out of place you look.

But wait! Don't put your stilettos in storage! We can help you look like you belong with the cast of Sex and the City. Check out the gallery for tips on how to walk in high heels like Carrie Bradshaw (plus, you can check out some really cute shoes!).

(Disclaimer: The end of the video is selling a Legwork video, which we're sure is fine, but that's totally not why we put the video on here -- it's just a short, cool little video showing how to walk in heels. Promise!)

Sex in the City movie preview! (Video)

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Ah, Carrie Bradshaw -- arguably the most recognizable women's fashion icon of the past decade. The sassy single antics of Bradshaw and her Sex and the City crew created a huge following for the star -- so much so that, even though her personal foray into fashion design has been a little lackluster, the actress' new movie is a perennial hot topic on fashion blogs.

Big news today, as the first preview for the new movie has hit the Internet. Nothing gets revealed that you didn't know already -- but it's enough to get fans even more pumped about the movie's release date: currently set for May, 2008.

Carrie's back

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

sex and the city movieThe Sex and the City movie just started shooting, and the web is buzzing about what Carrie will be wearing. I am still undecided on how I feel about the movie (aren't the girls a bit old for their antics?), but nothing can stop me from loving Carrie's wardrobe. FabSugar has just posted pictures from a scene in the movie so we can get a sneak peak. Hooray!

This green little number that Carrie is rocking looks good at first glance, but on closer inspection, I am not completely wowed by the overall look. The green on green floral print contrast is great and is totally expected of Carrie (aka Patricia Field the stylist).

As for the accessories I have to agree with FabSugar; the smattering of "edge" was a little too much for me. In my opinion, she should have picked one studded item instead of going with both the belt and the shoes. Oh, and that Eiffel Tower purse made me want to hurl.

I am looking forward to seeing more images from the movie (that way I don't actually have to go see it). What do you all think of Carrie's look, love it or leave it?

Trick-or-treat Carrie Bradshaw style

Filed under: Holiday Style, Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Sarah Jessica Parker, widely known for her role as fashionista Carrie Bradshaw on the HBO series Sex And The City, is trick-or-treating for the children's charity UNICEF.

SJP swears that her earliest memory is trick-or-treating with her siblings in support of UNICEF as a young girl. At a charity event this past Wednesday, Parker surrounded herself with excited, costumed children to support the fund-raising initiative.

Although Ms. Parker won't be dressing up this year - she says she "can't abide" costumes and feels too old - she reports that her son, James, is having a tough time deciding whether he wants to be Buzz Lightyear, Superman, or Skeleton Man. Parker says she will be happy to carry the UNICEF box and trick-or-treat with James, and (I'm sure) look Halloween-fabulous in her own glamorous way.
