Even though it's cold out, there are certain times when a sweater just won't do. When we're hitting the club with our girlfriends or attending a cocktail party with our boy du jour, we want to look a little sexy, and sometimes that requires showing a little skin. But we don't want to be cold, of course, so we like to bring along a little wrap, like this
There's not much that's more luxurious than cashmere. And, if you're a bit of a prep, as we are, you'll find this
Another sign that our economy is in real trouble? Cashmere is no longer in demand. Cashmere producers and designers are scaling back on the luxury knit as manufacturing prices rise and consumers shy away from spending on luxury products.
We absolutely love it when the weather turns just cool enough that we need to wear a light sweater. To warm it up just a little bit, our favorite trick is a warm scarf -- it takes up almost no room, unlike a coat, so if the weather warms up we can just tuck it away in our handbag, but if we get cold, wrapping it around our neck really does the trick.

While a striped scarf immediately evokes feeling of school uniform preppiness, when you throw in some bright, unexpected colors, that preppiness gets all mixed up with something else. Punk? Retro? Something else entirely? We're not sure, but what we do know is that we like it.

I am torn about the Runway Cashmere Tunic Dress by Michael Kors. The cable-knit sweater dress looks absolutely wonderfully warm and cozy, and yet because it's such a thick knit cashmere with a heavy, loose turtleneck, I am afraid that I won't get much wear out of it before I start buying up Spring clothes and (as usual) trying to wear them too early.
The name of the dress is "She's in Love," and that might be because I'm head over heels for Joie's sweater dress, or it might just be because I'm in love!
There's nothing more luxurious for fall and winter than the softness and warmth of cashmere, but don't just leave it to sweaters and the occasional scarf and gloves. Vince makes a smocked dress of 100% cashmere that features a fitted bodice, an empire waist (which is even more comfortable), and banding at the scoop neckline, cuffs, and hemline. Falling only 33", the dress is just screaming for a pair of opaque tights with a slight sheen.
