Versace is officially in the market for a new CEO. Giancarlo Di Risio has stepped down from the position, reports WWD.

Di Risio joined the company in 2004, but WWD has been covering the possibility of a shakeup of the executive team since mid-May.

In fact, an earlier WWD article stated that there were strategic differences between the family-owned company. and its CEO. Guess they were right.

Italian fashion houses have seen a recent reshuffling of the executive position. Some even speculate that Di Risio could be a possible candidate for the CEO position at Roberto Cavalli.

Rumors have surrounded Roberto Cavalli's empire for over a year, some speculating that he'll be forced to sell a minority stake in his company in order to save it.

WWD reports that he's closer to a sale, indicating that a spokesman for Clessidra SGR SpA said that "Cavalli has signed a letter of intent with the Milan-based private equity fund for the sale of a minority stake in the house."

Clessidra is lookign at a 30 percent stake in Cavalli's company, which might be necessary, considering his Italian licensee Ittiere (which produces Just Cavalli) has filed for financial protection from creditors.

Did Diablo Cody make leopard skin jump the shark?

We're right there with Kristen Seymour on loving a bit of leopard. And Diablo Cody is a full on inspiration to us lady writers -- you will find zero hating round these parts.

But...

Ever since the Diablo Cody awards ceremony (over) exposure tour, leopard skin, either as an outfit theme or accent, seems a bit...tired.

Anti-Posh thieves steal from the Spice Girl

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Victoria BeckhamWhen you're a singer whose entire image is built around looking posh, the last thing you want is for some idiot to sneak into your dressing room and steal all your posh threads. Doubly so if said posh threads carry the name Cavalli.

After the Spice Girls performance in Cologne on Thursday, Posh returned to her room to find that two pairs of shoes at almost $10,000 each, stage outfits, and jewelry had been swiped. A satin robe specially designed by Cavalli for Mrs. Beckham was also taken.

This news article ends with a little salt to the wounds, saying that Posh also recently caught a few back-up dancers making fun of her backstage through imitation, and not the flattering kind. Apparently some dancer mocked her by just standing at the mike, pouting and breathing heavily. Ouch.

Anti-fur protesters storm Cavalli show

Filed under: Runway Trends, Style in the News

anti fur protesters at cavalliIt wouldn't be a fashion show without a little drama, and we've certainly gotten our fair share. First, Madrid bans BMI-lite models, Milan follows suit, and now, five anti-fur protesters from animal rights activist group PETA have stormed a Roberto Cavalli fashion show, with posters printed with "Cavalli = cruelty."

Because the fashion show was so flamboyant, it took some time for security guards to realize that the activists were not a part of the show. They eventually escorted the activists out. Activists from the organization also protested at the Burberry fashion show on Monday. However, PETA's vice president says that "Cavalli is our target because he has described himself as an animal-lover but he has about every animal out there in his collection."

There was no fur shown at Cavalli's fashion show, since it was for Spring 2007.
