Karl Lagerfeld in Puppet Form on Etsy - Daily Obsession

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Gift Guides, Daily Obsession

What's creepier than obsessing over eccentric, ponytail-wearing super designer Karl "the Kaiser" Lagerfeld? How about obsessing over a tiny felt finger puppet crafted in his image? Yes, it's kind of strange to think of cuddling up and playing designer with a fuzzy Karl puppet, but for some reason, we can't help but think this little doll is going to make somebody rich -- or at least make them a little extra Christmas cash.

Chanel's new Chanel Unlimited line

Chanel UnlimitedWhen it comes to designer purses, people who love them tend to fall into two categories -- those who like the name or label advertised all over the bag, and those who don't. The new Chanel Unlimited line is definitely for those who belong in the first group.

Filed under: Style Tip of the Day

As little girls many of us dreamed of growing up and began a woman. As a woman, many of us dream of specific womanly items we'd like to acquire. One of these items in particular is the iconic Chanel 2.55 bag.

Watch Chanel movies by the buttload - Tip of the day!

We love us some Chanel and are smitten with the idea of a slew of biographies about Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel's life. And first up in the series, was the Lifetime biopic titled Coco Chanel. Though the girl playing a young Gabrielle Chanel was believable, all American Shirley McClaine was not. Bummer!

Madonna takes a shot at fashion with Chanel gun shoes

Filed under: Shoes, Celebrities with Style

The Material Girl has come under fire many times in her career for her unique fashion sense, and she's not about to stop now. For the premiere of her new film, Filth and Wisdom (Madge is making her directorial debut), she wore a pair of Chanel stilettos with a handgun as the heel.

Chanel's 60W heels inspired by LA Lights - not so cheap thrills

When we first laid eyes on these sandals, we though for a moment that the heel contained a bottle of Chanel No. 5, tucked away for emergency use only. As it turns out, it's something much cooler than that -- a working light bulb. For $2,200 these Chanel Lightbulb heels will attract attention to your shapely legs by flashing each time you take a step. Hmm, where have we seen that gimmick before?

I want that! Michelle Williams in Chanel

Pixie/actress, Michelle Williams (we swear she's Tinkerbell in disguise), made her rounds at the New York Film Festival in a draped Chanel dress. The fluid lines of both the bag and the dress make the look ethereal while the solid Roger Vivier pumps ground it.

We cannot part without mentioning her bling. It is definitely bold but the floral pattern and sparkly diamonds really polish off the airy look.

We really wish we saw more of Michelle and her great sense of style but we certainly understand that the duty of motherhood outweighs her want for the red carpet. Darn!

Chanel's new high-concept makeup counters

Filed under: Cosmetics, Fragrance, Daily Obsession

Chanel is revamping its makeup and fragrance counter at Saks Fifth Avenue's flagship New York store.

The new, 850 square-foot space--bigger than most New York apartments--will offer fragrance experts to introduce customers to Chanel's 43 perfume concentrates, eight makeup artist stations, and a digital history book about the French fashion house.

Our favorite feature is Chanel's Miroir Lumiere light-box mirror, tucked away inside the "VIP consultation room." The mirror mimics sunlight at different times of day and in different seasons.

After all, if a shade of lipstick works whether it's summer or winter, morning or night, we might be able to justify its $36 price tag.

A little background information:

Designer label tattoos - brand loyalty gone wrong?

Sure, most people aren't going to appreciate the artistic value of eyeball tattoos. Nor are they going to respect the low level of commitment or risk displayed by getting a tattoo on the inside of your mouth. But what about these corporate logo tattoos?

As our friends at Lemondrop recently picked up on, there seems to be a growing trend among hardcore fashionistas: commemorating their favorite designers in the form of skin art. One guy even has the Ralph Lauren polo player tattooed on his chest -- presumably underneath the more common stitched version. Sure, Chanel's shoes are fashionable, but is it really fashionable to wear the double C logo on your foot? Or is it brand loyalty gone wrong?

Aren't tattoos supposed to represent something personal -- like documenting clues to your wife's mysterious murder? Wait, that's from Memento. Seriously though, we can totally understand how much people identify with fashion designers, but aren't their commercial icons better left to the outside of their clothing?

Kate Walsh Prescribes a Pink Dress for DVD Launch Party

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Clothing, Celebrities with Style

Michael Buckner is a fashion and celebrity photographer who travels around the world taking pictures on the red carpet. He gives us a behind-the-scenes look at the hottest entertainment industry events.

Private Practice star Kate Walsh came to the Season 1 DVD launch party wearing Jenny Packham by Chanel. If you're looking for a good fall dress with a little spark to it, this pink and brown pattern should make you stick out from the rest of the crowd at your Homecoming dance.

Co-stars KaDee Strickland, Audra McDonald and Amy Brenneman also took to the brown carpet to show their support.

Like every event, there's always a challenge. Last night's was the reflectiveness of the background. The line photographers were all trying to shoot her farther down at an angle. That means we were yelling and screaming for longer, and probably all getting less eye contact.

Book Review: "Edward Steichen In High Fashion"

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Product Reviews

Students of photography know that some of the most stunning examples of the craft come from advertising work. Edward Steichen In High Fashion is literally a beautiful illustration of this truth.

Although Steichen might not exactly be a household name, his subjects were. In his distinguished career, which included 15 years as the chief photographer for Vogue and Vanity Fair, he snapped stars like Greta Garbo, Fred Astaire, Gloria Swanson and Charlie Chaplin.

Karl Lagerfeld, the people want another documentary

Filed under: Style in the News

Not to be outdone by all of the film projects surrounding the late Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, the Parisian fashion house's current head designer, Karl Lagerfeld, is getting yet another documentary made about him.

Directed by Thierry Demaizière and Alban Teurlai, the 52-minute-long fashion doc will feature "in-depth interviews with Lagerfeld, as well as footage of the designer in action, the film explores his life story, starting with his childhood in Germany."

Sorry, Lagerfeld lovers stateside. The documentary is being screened by France 5 for their country men and women only. We know, bummer. But hopefully this Lagerfeld fashion movie will make its way into a convenient DVD that we can all purchase on Ebay. Cross your fingers.
