Spring Sports Get Stylish - Tessuta Life Woven

florida game day purseWe love sports, but we really love looking cute and unique while supporting our teams. We don't wear the same logo tees everyone else has -- we'd rather don a dress in our team's colors and accessorize to drive home our point. And, that just got a whole lot easier, thanks to Tessuta Life Woven ribbon products.

See's Game Day Candy Makes Football Fun for Everyone, Especially Your Hostess

Filed under: Holiday Style, Haute Home

see's game day candyFootball season is long. Not that we're tired of watching it, or having folks over to catch the game. After all, the (endless) college rivalry games, the bowl games, the tradition of watching hours and hour and hours of football while nursing a hangover on New Year's Day...it's the American way.

Fashionable football fans - Vintage school tees

We can't deny that we love watching a college football game and seeing the stands filled with school colors and pictures of mascots -- it creates this amazing feeling of team spirit and unity, and we're complete suckers for it. However, it's really unfortunate that so many college tees seem to cram as many images and words and ridiculously bright colors onto the front and back of each shirt as possible. Spirited, these shirts might be, but they are also ugly.

If you're opting to wear a t-shirt representing your school, find one that stands out. The old-school mascots and vintage tees are still very in, whether it was your mom's shirt from the seventies or you just bought it new.

Fashionable football fans - Options for the fellas

Sure, football is a good excuse for guys to get together to grill, drink beer, argue about plays and stats -- to put it simply, it's a great way for them to bond. But, for the halfway fashion conscious guy, it's also a perfect chance to dress to impress. Because you have automatic colors to work with, you have the ability to play around a little more with the form while still looking like "one of the guys."

Think about how men dressed for sporting events 50 years ago -- they didn't need loud graphics to show their school spirit. Instead, they relied on classic pieces in the right colors, and that's something that's easy for you to do, too.

Click through the gallery for some tips on being a fashionable fan. You never know who's going to stop by your tailgate party!

Back to school: Keep those gadgets stylish and safe

InCaseThere are few things sadder than a scratched up tech toy. Students of today often have to tote around more than just a couple of books and a Jansport, and it's important to keep those extra goodies protected from the bumps and scratches of hectic school life. Just a wee bit of prevention can go a long way. Really, once you get that hardcore scar across the front of your super-shiny Macbook after accidentally skimming it with your bracelet-decorated wrist, you'll be sorry you didn't read this!

Pinkapalooza: Victoria's Secret parties with Behati (and Fall Out Boy)

Filed under: Handbags, Events: On the Scene, Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Cosmetics, Fragrance, Skin Care, Celebrities with Style

So last Thursday we found ourselves standing in blistering 80ish degree sunshine on the Santa Monica Pier. We had to wait in the corner between the coeds of USC and UCLA while they shouted "spirit" at each other. It was very peppy and just a bit intimidating.

Why were we there with rivals and cheerleaders? For Pinkapalooza, of course! Duh.

The first annual (or whenever) Pinkapalooza was thrown by the good people at Victoria's Secret Pink to introduce their new Pink Collegiate Collection (still no University of Arizona?!) to the masses. Fall Out Boy performed. It was what we in the biz call "a major event."

Pinkapalooza and YOUR interview with Behati Prinsloo

Filed under: Handbags, Events: On the Scene, Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Shoes, Vintage and Retro, Swimwear and Lingerie, Dresses, Videos, Fragrance, Skin Care, Celebrities with Style, Interviews

As we mentioned previously, Victoria's Secret Pink Collegiate Collection is all sorts of fun and spunk for the college set.

What we didn't mention previously is that you can be a part of the Pink action. This Thursday, July 17th, will be the first annual Pinkapalooza. It will be held on the Santa Monica pier from 5-10 p.m. and the public (that's where you come in) are welcome. Click here to print your pass.

Those in attendance will be able to compete in rivalry games between USC and UCLA, as well as be among the first to shop the new Pink Collegiate Collection. There will also be a free concert by Fall Out Boy.

The party will be hosted by the new (and first official) face of VS Pink Miss Behati Prinsloo. We will be sitting down with Behati for a little Q & A. and we thought it would be fun to take along some of your questions for the lovely young model.

If you have a question about VS Pink, modeling or something else (within reason) that you would like to ask Behati please leave it in the comment section. We'll pick the best (not that there is such a thing as a bad question) and ask Behati on Thursday- you know, when we sit down with her. Yes, we've been bragging about this to everyone.

We know, it's still summer, but before long school will be starting and Victoria's Secret wants you to be ready, hence the Pink Collegiate Collection.

Victoria's Secret describes PINK as "a fully articulated lifestyle collection for young women" and "includes 9 different items, including fleece pants, hoodies, panties, tees, and totes... available in approximately 375 stores, many of which are in close proximity to the universities in the program." Thanks to a partnership with The Collegiate Licensing Company there are 33 schools featured thus far and more (hello, Arizona?) will be added shortly.

Vivienne Westwood does graduation gowns

Filed under: Style in the News

What did your college or high school graduation gown look like? Was it black and plain, or a color? Or did you skip the ceremony to go have a beer? Okay, maybe that was just us, but those gowns are seriously unflattering, and we had no intention of wearing it around for a day and being photographed looking like we were wearing a garbage bag. No thank you.

Fortunately, for graduates of King's College in London, they will have something a little different -- graduation capes and hoods designed by Vivienne Westwood!

Foxers: Boxers for the ladies

Somewhere on the Foxers website it says "wear them like you stole them." That tagline alone should have these babies selling like hotcakes on college campuses across America.

It's okay to wear a funny shirt

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing

Sometimes you just need a funny shirt. Maybe you want to show your sense of irony or appreciation of pop culture. Maybe you like puns and politics. It's okay. Take a deep breath and relax. I'm telling you that it's alright. Really.

Busted Tees can help. Listen to them:

Busted Tees opened in March, 2004 and is entirely run by the guys from CollegeHumor.com. We decided to start making T-shirts because we want people to have fun, laugh, look good, feel comfortable, get good jobs, get sweaty dancing, and go home with someone who also did those things.

See? You like fun, right? What about laughing, looking good and feeling comfortable? You can do those things. To be honest, I don't think there are too many good jobs that will embrace the funny shirt, at least not at the interview, but sweaty? Definitely. The going home with someone? Probably not.

The funny shirt is acceptable (in some situations) and don't worry, people will still like you (give or take a few).

Really.

Kitchen in a box

Kitchen in a BoxThere's a whole new batch of college freshman heading off to school this fall who are leaving home for the first time, and trying to make it on their own. While most dorm-dwellers won't have room for furniture and other household staples, chances are they'll have access to a kitchen, which means they'll need stuff to cook and eat with.

And while they could buy every single piece individually (or inherit an old set from mom and dad), it'd be far easier just to pick up a Kitchen in a Box.

This is a good idea for multiple reasons. First of all, it means not having to be embarrassed or creeped out by the stains and stale bits of ancient, impossible-to-wash off food attached to the rents' old stuff, and secondly, this is way easier to move than assorted bits of kitchen stuff that weren't designed to fit together into one box.

The safest bet appears to be the Chefmate Kitchen in a Box First Apartment Starter Set, which is full of everything any college student would ever need and only costs $29.99. IKEA also makes a set, which is probably nicer in quality, but also costs $89.99 -- and no self-respecting freshman is going to care about the quality of his or her cookware.

Rasterbating is not a sin

For anyone looking for a cheap, interesting way to decorate a blank wall (I'm looking at you, college students), look into rasterbation. You heard me. The Rasterbator is an amazing online tool that quickly transforms an image of your choice into an easy-to-print format, allowing anyone with a basic printer and computer paper to create posters of any size. My new dorm room currently has bare walls with high ceilings and I found this to be a very cool way to fill up the empty space. At the moment, I'm working on having Stephen Colbert's massive visage tower over me as I sleep.

If you're still not convinced, check out this huge gallery of the hundreds of walls that have already been improved by rasterbation.
