Patricia Field knows a thing or two about style. The costume designer is the fashion force behind the now iconic wardrobe of "Sex in the City," "The Devil Wears Prada" and most recently, "Confessions of a Shopaholic." (And no doubt, SATC 2.)

In celebration of today's "Confessions of a Shopaholic" DVD release, Field lets StyleList in on what it was like dressing Isla Fisher, the favorite "hooker" look that didn't make the cut and her summer must-have.

Confessions of a Shopaholic Facebook Game

Confessions of a ShopaholicConfessions of a Shopaholic is a hysterical must see for all fashionistas this season. We love the adorable Isla Fisher, who is apparently not a real-life shopaholic, even though she looks exactly like Amy Adams. Maybe because she looks exactly like Amy Adams. Is it okay that we brought that? Cause it's been brough'en. Oddly, we can sort of group them into an adorable and mousy group with The Office's Jenna Fischer -- note the "c;" no relation. We digress. Confessions of a Shopaholic (trailer here) has a Facebook app! Oh, information age. You're so cute. So's the app -- read on.

UK Woman Dies in Avalanche of Clothes - Shopaholism Can Kill

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing

Screen capture from the cover of Sophie Kinsella's Look, we're really not too great when it comes to writing touching and sensitive obituaries, so we won't pretend to write one. This is the tragic story of a compulsive shopaholic who died as a result of her untreated desire to accumulate too much awesome stuff -- a desire we can definitely sympathize with. Joan Cunnane, 77, went missing over the Christmas holiday and was eventually found in her Manchester home, buried under an avalanche of unopened stuff.

Isla Fisher - Not a Real Life Shopaholic

Isla FisherIsla Fisher stars in the soon-to-be-released film, "Confessions of a Shopaholic," based on the book by the same name. And while she might play the role of a practically professional shopper, wearing outrageous styles and mixing daring colors, that's far from how she dresses in real life.

Confessions of a Shopaholic trailer

Filed under: Style in the News

We loved Isla Fisher as the psycho, stalkeresque Gloria in "Wedding Crashers," and we love the fact that she is married to the iconoclast that is Sacha Baron Cohen.

This winter, Fisher gets her first, much-deserved starring role as a likable ditz with a serious charge-it problem in "Confessions of a Shopaholic." (Based on the bestselling book of the same name.)

The trailer just went up this week, and while the story looks a bit stereotypically chick flick-ish, we'll probably go just to witness the wardrobe...and for the scene where Fisher's character bum rushes a cute guy with the line, "You speak Prada?"
