Sephora recently released an email that spelled out 8 of their best cult classics. In case you don't know, a cult classic is, in the most basic sense, a product that once it's tried, the user is immediately obsessed. A small community or "cult" forms around these products. Individuals cannot stop raving about the product for years after their first encounter. If you've ever had one of these episodes, you know what we're talking about.

Tip of the day: Shadow for your shape

Filed under: Cosmetics, Style Tip of the Day

Did you know that most makeup tips try to work the eye into an almond shape? It's true. The shape is considered the most flattering and extremely exotic. However, the tips often don't take into consideration those with deep set, wide set, small eyes, round eyes, or heavily hooded eyes. And if you wear glasses? TSA-friendly cosmetics

It's a tough time indeed to be a flying fashionista. After the UK airline terrorist plot was exposed on August 10, it's suddenly verboten to bring gels, fluids, lotions and other necessities anywhere beyond the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) screeners and metal detectors.

I appreciate the need for security, but no hand lotion on a plane? Are you kidding?

Fortunately, as Anna Bahney reports in the New York Times, there is hope. Bahney points out that the rules allow for a carry-on cosmetic kit if -- and only if -- that cosmetic kit is an easily screened, transparent bag.

As for the contents of that bag ... well, you'd better stick to powders, sticks and wipes, like $6.95 Toothfresh Powdered Toothpaste in lieu of your $3 Crest. Bahney has a long list of suggestions for how to fly in style here.
