Must have bling of the day: ASOS spike bracelet

Filed under: Accessories, Steals and Deals, Must Haves

We loved the jewelry Robert Lee Smith designed for Mary Kate and Ashley's clothing line Elizabeth and James...especially the dagger necklace. But at $525, it's a bit much to spend on a piece of costume jewelry.

Must have bling of the day: Ambush's Beeeeethoven ring

Japanese line Ambush doesn't take itself too seriously, as evidenced by their highly amusing Bheeeeetoven collection (yes, spelled like that) currently available at Frution in Las Vegas and online. Sure, it features the bust of the famed composer, but it's not exactly made for the classical radio set.

Precious & Rare Pieces: one-of-a-kind antique jewelry

Filed under: Stores We Love, Accessories, Vintage and Retro

Jewelry, like a car or a house, is an investment. Which is why it's so important that it stands the test of time. Sophie Aarons' online shop, Precious and Rare Pieces, offers dozens of items that fit that bill.

Aarons, a second-generation antiques dealer, carries an impressive collection of estate and vintage baubles, from Georgian-era jewelry to vintage David Yurman pieces. I first heard about the site from a friend-of-a-friend, and quickly realized that I'd been let in on a great secret.

My favorite item for sale is this 1920s engagement ring, featuring a .87 carat diamond surrounded by a white-gold filigree. Good luck finding a stunner like that in a modern, mega-jeweler's showroom.

Why aren't you wearing this? Shield with stone earrings

As the weather heats up, so does the party scene -- we can hardly keep track of all the swanky events on our calendar. There are weddings, birthdays, and plenty of "just because" cocktail parties that give us reason to glitz up our everyday look. And, one of our favorite ways to take an outfit from day to night is with a pair of killer earrings.

Butter + Bling rings

Barry Wine, a former restaurant owner turned blingmaster is the mad genius behind the rings of Butter + Bling. Wine, once the owner of The Quilted Giraffe is now fond of saying that he cooks with bling not butter. His creations are perhaps the biggest, gaudiest, most attention-attracting costume jewelry I have ever seen. The rings are festooned with rhinestones, pearls, shoes, animals and all sorts of doodads. There is even a ring made from five engagement-style rings all tangled together. I think you need a very simple outift in order to pull off one of these rings without looking wildly ridiculous.
