Filed under: Runway Trends, Style in the News, Swimwear and Lingerie

Sure, the Victoria Secret fashion show has all of those supermodels, but it's sort of sanitized sexiness. Plus you know that everything in the show will eventually turn up a mall near you, piled on a table next to a pyramid of "Pink-scented" lotion.

If you want creativity and adventure in your underwear, you have to check out the new Triumph Inspiration Awards. An international design competition for students, this year the theme was Female Fascination. Designers from 31 countries participated and the judges included supermodel Helena Christensen, Dutch designers Viktor & Rolf, and noted sexy photographer Ellen von Unwerth.

Will Leona Lewis start her own fashion line?

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Is pop star Leona Lewis, aka PETA's most sexy vegetarian, about to get her own Topshop line? British rag The Sun reports that Leona and Fashion Svengali Sir Phillip Green have a dinner scheduled, as soon as he gets back from his trip to Ibiza with Kate Moss.

Since she's young and beautiful, and he's old and rich, this can mean only one thing. They're collaborating on a new clothing line. (What did you think we meant?)

The notorious Kate is Sir Phillip's current celebrity designer cash cow, but she can't stay young forever. Leona's staggering success in the U.K. and the U.S., plus her broad appeal make her a very marketable choice.

Let's see: popular and pretty celebrity, trendy clothes, inexpensive price points...we're going out on a limb and predict this will make buckets of money for Sir Phillip, and one hopes for Leona. Oh, yes, and as The Sun points out, Simon Cowell, too.

Giveaway: YogaMatic yoga mat

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Contests & Giveaways

Yoga, once a quirky hippie habit, is now firmly in the trendy mainstream. You can express your personality while doing downward dog with all kinds of cool yoga pants, tops and bags. Only yoga mats seemed to be stuck in a boring constant, uniformly blue or purple -- until YogaMatic, that is.

YogaMatic makes custom yoga mats, allowing you to print them using the design of your choice -- either by uploading your own image for a unique, one-of-a-kind mat, or choosing from the gallery of beautiful photos and illustrations.

Bar Refaeli to be the face of Hurley

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

Bar Refaeli might be as well known for being Leonardo DiCaprio's sweetie as for her modeling career, but she's looking to change that. The Israeli model is set to be the face (and the body) in Hurley's upcoming campaign.

This October, most fashion mags you pick up will have an image or two of Refaeli wearing Hurley's Spring 2009 line of bikinis, sheer tees, and denim shorts. The images are meant to "illustrate a theme of a young woman's journey and discovery." We think it's more likely they'll illustrate Refaeli's sexy curves.

One hundred years of Dutch design

For design aficionados, there's nothing quite like Dutch design. From furniture to fashion, graphic or poster art, advertising or industrial design, Limited/Unlimited: One Hundred Years of Dutch Design (Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, through Oct 12) takes a look a Dutch design achievement, chronicled through the objects of daily life.

The exhibition shows similar objects side-by-side, from different design traditions, a mass produced example and a unique object: chair versus chair, iron versus iron. For those that can't make it to the Netherlands, museum curator Mienke Simon Thomas also authored Dutch Design. A Cultural History (010 Publishers, check out their design catalogue ).

As for "goed wonen." It translates to "good living." We'll take some of that, please.

Hello, and welcome to Web 2.0, the t-shirt collection. We're not really sure what to say about these geek chic shirts, other than we like them, because the company that produces them isn't a t-shirt company; they're a design team that has a store. Or perhaps they're a store that has a design team. It's all so confusing.

Ash Francomb is a self-described "sunny" boutique. What does this mean? Are solar panels involved? Not that we know of. However, we have a theory that the sunshine is in the shirts, figuratively. All of the prints are modern takes on vintage design and they promote "passion for adventure, the ocean, nature, and music into visual art meant to inspire their fans to 'live life like a road trip' and to travel the globe in search of endless summers and memories that will last a lifetime..."
