Ferrero Rocher Shares the Sweetness

Filed under: Style for a Cause

ferrero rocher candyNow that we have permission to eat chocolate for our health, at least between now and December 31st, we decided to make chocolate our decorating theme for the holidays. Bowls of bon bons on every available surface! And since they come in such pretty wrappers, Ferrero Rocher seems like the obvious choice for holiday house chocolate.

Filed under: Style in the News, Books

The Flat Belly Diet is currently the hottest you gotta do this one! eating plan. Six pack abs are dreamy, but apparently the stress of the 2008 presidential election has us all packing on the beer bellies and love handles. Actresses and models use shocking tactic to stay thin

Nicole Richie used to send emails to people saying nobody over 100 pounds would be allowed into her parties -- and there would be scales at the door. Coco Rocha said that designers would tell her, "The look this year is anorexic. We don't want you to be anorexic, we just want you to look it." And just recently, sources reported that the CW network sent out a memo saying that the girls on the new 90210 need to stay under 110 pounds. So, the girls of Hollywood have had to come up with a new method to stay on top of this sick trend.

Courtney Love's a liar! (Shocking, we know)

Let's start off by all agreeing that Courtney Love is a mess. She just is. And when she dropped a tremendous amount of weight in a very short time, we didn't believe her for a second when she said it was through a strict diet. Puh-lease -- a strict diet takes self control and restraint, which are qualities we know Courtney just doesn't have, so we've always assumed she had some sort of medical assistance.

Weight Watchers Golden Sponge Cake with Creamy Filling

You know how you crave the things you shouldn't eat, like dessert things, even more when you're on a diet? And how you'll do anything for a treat, but once you indulge you feel awful?

We have four words: Weight Watchers faux twinkies.

That's right. Weight Watchers makes a version of the Hostess Cakes calorie bomb. It's smaller, like a mini-Twinkie, but it has that same delicious combo of airy cake/creamy surprise on the inside.

They call them "Golden Sponge Cakes with Creamy Filling" and somehow magically make it so that each one has just 80 calories, and only 1 point!

Granted, snacks should usually be stuff like celery and apples, but when you need a treat it's nice to know there's a way to indulge without the bulge.

Organic obsessed? You may be orthorexic.

This month's Teen Vogue features an article on orthorexia, which experts say is an obsession with eating only "good" foods.

Orthorexics may stick to a stringent raw-foods diet, become obsessed with their sodium intake, or even subsist on homemade, organic baby food. (In other words, orthorexics are consumed by their food, rather than the other way around.)

One girl quoted in Teen Vogue even says, ""I can't help but look down on my friends when they give in to temptations like pizza or ice cream."

Eat like a rich person

Filed under: Fashionable Food, Men, Celebrities with Style

So, you're broke. And being broke makes it hard to stay skinny.

Why is that? Simple: Because food costs money. If you had plenty of money, you could go out for a fabulous lunch, eat till you were just full enough, and go on with your day. But you're broke! And you paid for that food! You might only be able to afford noodles or an apple for dinner now. Maybe you'll skip dinner altogether. In any case, you're eating like your financial stability depends on it. And in a way, sadly it does.

Tip of the day: Eat yourself beautiful

Filed under: Skin Care, Style Tip of the Day

Okay that sounded weird. What we mean is, sometimes the things you eat are reflected in your outward appearance.

Example 1. If you eat greasy pizza religiously, you face probably looks, well, like a pepperoni.

Example 2. If you eat fresh fruit like it's your job, your face probably looks juicy and fresh.

Got it? Good. Now, let's check in with Dr. Steph to see what foods will make your hair, nails, teeth, and teeth shine.

Tip of the day: Rio grande

Filed under: Style Tip of the Day

Just about every supermodel working today hails from Brazil in particular. Think about it – Gisele Bunchen, Adriana Lima, Ana Beatriz Barros, Fernanda Motta, Raica Oliveria, Jeisa Chiminazzo, Isabeli Fontana, Alessandra Ambrosio, Raquel Zimmerman, Aline Nakashima. Even if you don't recognize the name, Google it and you'll certainly know the face.

It must be something in the water that gives them makes them so desirable -- such gorgeous faces, lush hair, itty bitty waists, round booties and big busts. Or maybe it's just South America's big "what up" to plastic surgery.

No matter. The point is they are all stunning. Even if you don't look like you hail from the exotic banks of Rio de Janeiro, you can still capture the same exotic lifestyle as all of these lovely ladies.

Tip of the day: Happy, healthy 4th of July

Filed under: Style Tip of the Day

Okay, though we don't really obsess about weight – with vacation and the Fourth of July in such close proximity it's impossible not to think about it just a little. To boot, it's a loooong weekend and weekends are when we usually fall off the wagon and eat ice cream and mac & cheese for dinner rather than a fresh chicken sandwich with a side of watermelon.

If you're on the same boat and want to be able to squeeze into that bathing suit after a long weekend of fireworks and indulgence... well then read on my sisters and brothers.

Tip of the day: You are what you eat

Filed under: Style Tip of the Day

Juicy! There is no denying the truth behind the phrase, "You are what you eat." A perfect example is the huge zit you always get after housing a greasy pizza. You can also put a positive spin on the saying and change the way you eat for good.

Summer is the best time to kick start better eating habits for your skin, hair, body, and even your mind. There is so much juicy fruit and yummy grilled chicken around that it's easier to say no to macaroni salad and the ice cream man.

The Vogue Diet

Filed under: Style in the News

vogue coverThe Vogue Diet ... What is that like water, asparagus, and chewing gum? Nah not so much, it goes more like this "lose some weight or you can't be on my cover."

That's exactly what happened to Kate and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte. The two designers received a call from a Vogue editor who suggested they get on a diet and see a personal trainer. Kate and Laura were actually fine with it because they wanted to get healthier anyways (uh huh). The 'Vogue Diet' consisted of four months of personal training and a meal delivery service.

The fashionable diet paid off as they lost a combined total of 50 pounds. They even kept a diet diary that will appear in the April issue. Of course Vogue got a lot of heat for asking the sisters to diet, and this isn't the first time. Back in 1998 Oprah actually agreed to drop 20 pounds before her cover shoot.

I don't know what to think about this. On one hand if Vogue paid for all of my weight loss needs and I kinda wanted to drop some weight anyways it wouldn't be a big deal. However on the other hand ... Vogue is straight up calling people fat. What do you all think?
