Karl Lagerfeld in Puppet Form on Etsy - Daily Obsession

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Gift Guides, Daily Obsession

What's creepier than obsessing over eccentric, ponytail-wearing super designer Karl "the Kaiser" Lagerfeld? How about obsessing over a tiny felt finger puppet crafted in his image? Yes, it's kind of strange to think of cuddling up and playing designer with a fuzzy Karl puppet, but for some reason, we can't help but think this little doll is going to make somebody rich -- or at least make them a little extra Christmas cash.

The Katie Perry doll

Filed under: Style in the News

Lookout Malibu Barbie, you may have some fierce competition for Ken's heart coming your way.

Katy Perry, you know, the girl who sings about kissing other girls and likes to wear tons of retro duds, well, she is being immortalized in the form of a doll. Donning a ivory shift dress, over-sized belt, black pantyhose, and bright red lips, the doll will retail for $49.99 and looks a lot like the doll in Perry's music video for U.R. So Gay.

The mini Perry dolls will be sold in a limited number of 500. Of that, the singer's record label, Capital Music Group, will be distributing 150 of the plastic figurines to "tastemakers, media and other interested parties." The dolls are expected to sell-out within one to two days of their release. So if you're interested, keep your eyes and ears peeled.

Now you can buy your child a Kimora Lee Simmons doll

Filed under: Style in the News

If you've always dreamed of inspiring your little girl to want to look like a tramp fashionista, today is the day that dream will come true. Toys R-Us is now selling a Baby Phat Kimora Lee Simmons doll.

The doll, created by Kimora herself, will set you back a whopping $59.99! Now, I haven't been on a Barbie shopping spree in quite some time, but that sounds pretty pricey to me. But apparently, it's worth it. According to the manufacturer, plastic Miss Simmons comes dressed in, "a pink halter with Kimora's KLS logo buckle belt, mini skirt and over-the-knee boots, topped by full-length faux chinchilla coat with KLS logo leopard-print lining."

Oh, and I should note, this doll is brought to us via Mattel, original creators of impossible body standards for woman. Is it any surprise that a company that thought selling Barbies with humanly unattainable proportions (36-18-33) was a good idea, doesn't think twice about encouraging little girls to wear fur and hooker boots? I should give them some credit. The Toys R Us website does specify that the toy is for ages 14 and up. But, we all know that for a little girl, anything down the Barbie aisle is fair game.

Fashion paper dolls for the internet

Filed under: Style in the News

This is fun -- a post from Jason Kottke led me to i-Dressup, an addictive little site where you can play dress virtual models in fashions from the latest runway lines from Gucci, Chanel, Valentino and others. The dolls also have changeable hair, makeup, accessories and shoes, I'm not sure how much this will help you get dressed in your real life but they are certainly fun to play with and take me back to the days when I was a child and used to fold back the tabs on little paper outfits and carefully hang them on flimsy paper shoulders.
