Heidi Klum Isn't Cheap, and Neither Is Her Perfume

Heidi Klum put a lot into her fragrances -- she told the Daily Star, "My perfumes carry my name to show I am fully behind them. I created them from A to Z. The scents carry my handwriting."

So, it's no wonder she didn't take kindly to a German-based internet vendor selling those scents at a serious discount on eBay.

AHN reports that she's suing the vendor for £100,000 in compensation, claiming the it is cheapening her brand. The vendor, predictably, is fighting the allegations and is expected to appear in court on July 14.

Shop Yigal Azrouel's eBay Store for Discounts and a Good Cause

Filed under: Style for a Cause

Save the environment and money! A Yigal Azrouel Spring '09 leather jacket for over 50% off. Photo courtesy of shop.yigal-azrouel.com

Rather than go the usual charity circuit route, Yigal Azrouel has teamed up with eBay for a 10-day online store to benefit the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council).

Until June 19, pieces from Azrouel's Spring/Summer 2009 collection will be sold at a deep discount and feature fixed prices.

How discounted, you may wonder? When we checked out prices, a shrunken leather jacket was offered for $530 at the eBay store versus the $1,275 retail price.

A social conscience never looked so chic!

Mariah Carey's Dress - On Ebay

Mariah Carey, the only lady more girlie than an actual Barbie Doll, had a whole design competition for a dress to match her new fragrance, Luscious Pink!

The winning designer, 20-year-old Julian Contreras from San Jose, Calif., created one of the most fabulously, outrageously pink gowns we've ever seen. The pink couture masterpiece was brought to life by Mariah's personal stylist, and the singer recently wore it out to a romantic dinner with her husband, Nick Cannon (right).

Only three Luscious Pink dresses have been created -- one for Mariah, one for the winning designer (not that he's going to wear it) and the third is being auctioned off on eBay to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure. That means you can bid today through May 30th to win Mimi's Luscious Pink dress and support one of her favorite causes!

Check out the gorgeous design -- nice work, Julian!

Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow to Auction Off Hand-Me-Downs TONIGHT!

Filed under: Style for a Cause

Jessica Alba and Gwyneth Paltrow aren't just rich, famous and beautiful celebrities. They're also moms, and as such, they're taking part in JOHNSON's Celebrity Hand-Me-Down Auction on eBay, which starts tonight, May 7, at 10 p.m. ET and runs through May 14.

You can bid on strollers, a diaper bag full of goodies and an adorable variety of kids' clothing donated by Alba. If that's not up your alley, spend your money on Gwyneth's "Get Fit With Tracy Anderson" package. That's Paltrow's trainer, as if you needed added incentive.

Either way, you're supporting a great cause, as all donations help raise funds for JOHNSON's Clean Water Initiative, an effort to make sure clean water is available to all babies. And if you end up with some fabulous star-worthy stuff, well, that's just killing two birds with one stone, right?

As of today, each item is available on eBay for a starting bid of 99 cents.

The proceeds from this earthtastic auction will benefit Oceana, an international nonprofit which focuses on ocean conservation. What better excuse do you need to dive into shopping mode?

Top Designers Get Crafty for Charity

Last night Dita von Teese and Debi Mazar co-hosted a fete for the Los Angeles boutique The Way We Wore in honor of the Earth Day-conscious "Out of the Ordinary" collection of reworked vintage garments. Designers such as Magda Berliner, Jeremy Scott (check out the before and after pics of his creation above!), and Current/Elliot participated in the initiative in which recycled clothing and jewelry were transformed into modern pieces. If you're not living on the West Coast, don't fret, the items are available to bid on through May 2nd on eBay. Proving that not all fashion is frivolous, the proceeds of the sale will benefit carbon footprint reducing organizations such as Future Fashion and Earthpledge.

Palin Shoes Bring in $2,025 on eBay

Sarah Palin Style Evolution

When she was a flat-broke (but "not flat busted") student at the University of Idaho in the 1980s, Sarah Palin dressed in the frumpy-freshman's uniform of tee shirts and shorts. But by the time she took the national stage this summer, she had a chic RNC-financed wardrobe that could have paid for the $125,000 dump truck penciled into the Wasilla City budget -- with enough left over for a family shopping spree at Alaska's first Target. To see how Palin morphed from dorm-dull to camera-worthy, click on.

    Heath Family, AP

Sarah Palin -- then Sarah Louise Heath -- walked off with the Miss Wasilla crown in 1984 wearing a red and white strapless confection.

    Heath Family / AP

Even by 1984 standards, Palin's swimsuit for the Miss Alaska pageant was a bit modest . Here, she models a red one-piece, which she later swapped for a "Dynasty"-worthy navy sequined gown. Though Palin snagged Miss Congeniality honors in the race, she lost the title to Maryline Blackburn, the first African-American to represent Alaska in the Miss American contest.

    Splash News

In 1992 -- the year Donna Karan ran an ad showing a glamorous woman being sworn in as President -- 28-year-old Sarah Palin was all bold shoulders and bright earrings as she ran for the Wasilla City Council.

Bob Hallinen, Anchorage Daily / MCT

Dressed for success: Palin, as a member of the Wasilla City Council, wears the crisp blazer-and-white-shirt uniform favored by of legions of working women. Must have worked. Within 14 years, she was elected mayor of Wasilla and governor of Alaska.

Standing along the Parks Highway in Wasilla, then-Mayor Palin was the embodiment of North Face chic as she shows how to work a basic red-and-back windbreaker.

Forget how cold it gets in Alaska. In 2005, Gov. Palin's look in a pink Lilly Pulitzer sweater can be summed up in two words: Palm Beach.

Lulu Larsen, Alaska Stock Images / ZUMA Press

For her gubernatorial inauguration ball in 2007, Palin traded the librarian's up-do and black skirt and jacket that she wore to the swearing-in ceremonies for loose curls and a raspberry portrait-collar gown.

When you're heading into the sub-zero temperatures of the Tesoro Iron Dog competition, you don't even think about wearing peep-toe pumps. Here, Palin bundles up in heavy padding, fur and lace-up boots to cheer on her husband, Todd, who has won the snow machine race across Alaska four times.

    Splash News

At a "Road to the Convention" rally last August, Palin wore a basic black suit (and her old $89 Naughty Monkey peep-toe shoes) as John McCain officially introduced her as his running mate.

    Mary Altaffer, AP

We can hardly believe it, but this strange fascination with all things Sarah Palin still hasn't run its course. Case in point, someone claiming to be Palin's niece just sold a pair of the governor's Naughty Monkey pumps -- that she reportedly bought with her own money (not like all that fancy designer stuff the RNC picked up) -- on eBay for a whopping $2,025. Regularly priced, these heels retail for about $90 -- but put the foot of a thwarted VP candidate in them, and the price skyrockets like they're some kind of relic.

Ebay bans products containing ivory - Tusk no one

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Green Fashion

We all know that Ebay is a gigantic player in the retail world, but because of its virtual nature, it's hard to keep tabs on just how large the worldwide garage sale really is. Here's an indicator, the International Fund for Animal Welfare says that the online retailer is big enough to be responsible for "63% of the trade in endangered species -- with elephant ivory comprising 73% of all products tracked." Just think, that leopard skin purse could be real leopard skin. That's why eBay feels compelled to start cracking down on ivory sales starting January 1st.

Housekeepers rob the Beckhams, hock their loot on Ebay

Filed under: Accessories, Celebrities with Style

Tough luck bidders, police in the UK are putting a stop to what could be some of the hottest deals on stolen celebrity memorabilia we'll ever see. According to Daily Mail, a couple of sneaky housekeepers at the Beckhams' mansion in Hertfordshire were making off with some of the couple's clothing and trinkets and trying to pawn them off on Ebay -- like no one was going to notice.

Genuine bigfoot hoax costume on Ebay - Halloween specials

Filed under: Style in the News

Hopefully, you heard about the scientific breakthrough this year where two hunters in Georgia came across the forensic evidence that finally proves that giant hairy ape-men exist -- a bigfoot corpse. To the surprise of few, when legendary bigfoot hunter Tom Biscardi thawed out the body, it turned out to be nothing but a rubber bigfoot costume. Right now, that very famous costume is on Ebay, and the bidding is already up to $200,400. If you've got the cash handy, this is your chance to snag the best costume of 2008.

eBay WTF Friday Five

Third grade teacher gone badThis week, let's take a moment to celebrate the delightfully heinous crimes against denim witnessed on eBay. We've already brought you:

Bad Jean Jacket #1
Bad Jean Jacket #2
& Bad Jean Jacket #3

Here are #4-8, starting with this one.

A patch on your jean jacket is sort of sweet, in an "I was once a girl/boy scout and I dig patches" kind of way. This many patches? Batdung crazy.

This jacket includes patches such as:

Madrid
American Indian guy
American Indian guy #2
Ladybug
Bear with hat on
Giraffe
Elephant
Rag doll
Rainbow
French weathervane
Skull

eBay WTF of the Day: Bad jean jacket #3

Ach! Too! Busy! Cripes! Eyes! Burning!

Be careful with denim, people. This is an example of where a simple crime against denim could lead to total outfit mayhem. We don't care what you're wearing under that jacket; we take one look at it and we're having a seizure on the floor.

This jean jacket from Josephs-colours-sells on eBay is a Coldwater Creek from the underacknowledged realm of "trying to look like your mother and doing it wrong."

eBay WTF of the Day: Bad jean jacket #2

WTF? This is so obviously wrong.

It's like this. The jacket was too long so they decided to cut it. Then, while they got ready to cut it, they had seven martinis and decided it would be really funny if they just cut some of it off. We can just see this being a good idea at like, 3am:

"Yeah, you know...like coattails...but on the sides...of this denim jacket...with three quarter sleeves and an awkward, sideways belly-flap."

But that idea should have been trumped in the morning.
