Beyonce's ring is serious bling!

While the couple has done a great job keeping first their relationship and then their marriage under wraps and totally off limits to the press, they are flashy about one thing -- their jewelry. For Beyonce's engagement to Jay-Z he gave her an 18 carat flawless diamond ring worth over $4 million dollars!

Rumors: Owen and Kate are getting hitched

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

The word around the blogosphere is that Kate Hudson and Owen Wilson got secretly engaged this weekend. Although their press agents swear up and down that it's not true, Kate was spied wearing a ring and insiders are insisting that the engagement is on. As far as we're concerned, this could just as easily be a hoax as it could be a super-exclusive wedding. It wouldn't be the first time the paparazzi weren't invited.

After their breakup last summer, Owen's been going through some dark times and Kate's been helping him bounce back. Honestly, we thought Owen had his sights set on Woody Harrelson as a life partner. From the article:

"He picked out the ring and went for the biggest one he could find. He was nervous about proposing but Kate was thrilled and the whole thing was really emotional."

eBay WTF of the day: Announcement!

This heart is dripping with saccharine pain.Oh my gosh! You're engaged! You must be, because you're wearing this awesome Bride to Bee temporary tattoo!

Yes. On that fateful day your boyfriend falls to his knee and asks for your hand, surely your first thought will be: "How will I make sure everyone knows?"

As he slips the engagement ring onto your finger, you'll be thinking "I know, I'll get a temporary tattoo! Of...of...of a feminine bumblebee seductively carrying a dripping heart with the words 'Bride to' over it!"

Then of course, you'll wrack your brains trying to think where you can get such a tattoo. The answer, naturally, is eBay.

Whew! I totally just solved a hypothetical crisis for you.

I wonder what other temporary conditions one can announce via temporary tattoo! Pregnancy, surely. How about mood? I know I could use an "I'm Cranky" tattoo for a couple of days now and then. Or, you know when you crave frozen yogurt for like three days? Temporary tattoo.

Oh, Riverblue. You give me such ideas!

Your engagement ended: should you give the ring back?

You have to sort through your CDs, your books, maybe even a few t-shirts, but all that seems to pale in comparison to the larger question of relationship etiquette: when an engagement ends, should the woman return the ring?

The answer, at least for one New Yorker, is yes. He's suing his ex to return a 4.06 carat cushion-cat diamond ring worth $48,000.

While the man's lawyer "declined to say which partner ended the engagement," according to the New York Sun, some think that doesn't matter. Gothamist found quotes from both Emily Post, who says: "Why keep a painful reminder of the end of an engagement just to be spiteful? It's better to take the high road and move on." And from a married couple on About.com, who say that in the state of New York, an engagement ring is a "conditional gift," so unless they wed, all bets are off.

But what do you think? Should she return the rock, or is he being just being $48,000 worth of spiteful?

Wedding dress mania

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Celebrities with Style

wedding dressWhen I got engaged and began the fun but overwhelming task of finding the perfect wedding dress, I got one piece of advice over and over. Women would tell me not to worry, that I would "know my dress when I found it," meaning that I would have absolutely no doubts, no second guessing, no wondering if I should visit just one more store.

Well, Elizabeth Hurley apparently does not subscribe to the traditional wedding dress advice I received. Ms. Hurley recently commissioned thirteen wedding dresses to be made for her big day, and reportedly hasn't felt a single qualm about the decision. Katie Holmes has followed suit, requesting (at last count) five dresses for her upcoming nuptials with Tom Cruise.

So what do you think? Did you "just know it" when you found your wedding dress? Or did you wish you had the option of choosing from several dresses and changing throughout the ceremony and reception?
