Top 3 Celeb Hairstyles for Summer - Tip of the Day!

Filed under: Hair Care, Style Tip of the Day, Hair Cut and Style

kim kardashianWe were lucky enough to score an interview with some lovely ladies, Nikki and Riawna, from the Ken Paves Salon in Hollywood. Between the two of them, they have tons of experience, an amazing knowledge bank on the topic, and a crazy client list to boot (think Lindsay Lohan, Colin Farrell, and Eva Longoria). So I rolled what we got from these two into a week's worth of tips so you can look like you just walked out of the Ken Paves Salon.

As a fashion site, we're always looking to the runway for inspiration but we know that actually doing one of the over-the-top looks just never works. Working at a Hollywood hot spot like Ken Paves Salon, Nikki and Riawna say it's no different. While they look to the runway to keep up with trends for their A list clients, Nikki states the obvious, saying that the "runway doesn't cater to daily life." But the insight they did find on the SS09 catwalks is good news for us lazy hair people and blow dryer optional.

When most of us think extensions, we think of a hideous weave and chicks with totally fried, damaged hair. But did you know that 90% of celebs have extensions? Now you're probably wondering who has them and why you can't tell what's what. Riawna says it's because "not all extensions are bad for your hair. Keep in mind you get what you pay for." So that girl you're thinking of with the horrible weave? Well, unfortunately ... she got what she paid for. But that girl doesn't have to be you. You can get a gorgeous head of extensions with the right know how.

For Badgley Mischka, Age Ain't Nothin' But a Number

Filed under: Style in the News

Badgley Mischka has been around for twenty years. There is no doubt that the men behind the brand, Mark Badgley and James Mischka, who met at Parsons School of Design in 1982 and formed their renowned house in 1988, have deserved every minute of their success, of course. But their 20th Anniversary Campaign is more than just celebrating two decades in the industry with a photo full of pretty starlets. It goes deeper than that for everyone involved -- the men behind the clothes, the women in the photos, the legend behind the lens, and the legions of loyal fans who love them all.

Top 5 - Stars Favorite Designers From the 2009 Golden Globes Red Carpet

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Red Carpet Trends

Jennifer MorrisonEvery designer wants their dress chosen for an awards ceremony like the Golden Globes. A high profiled celeb equals maximum exposure. However, very few succeed. Holiday Party Looks From the Red Carpet

Hey, Holiday Party Hottie

We're always looking to the stars for fashion inspiration, and this time of year is no exception. The red carpet is nothing if not festive, and our favorite celebrities have given us loads of ideas for what to wear to the next holiday party -- check them out in the gallery!

    Izabella Miko
There's nothing wrong with wearing a little black dress to a holiday party -- it's flattering, sexy, and safe. But because it's the holidays, go with one that has a little added interest. Think of fun sleeves, an embellished neckline or hem, or maybe a contrasting sash at the waist. Don't be afraid to get a little crazy -- if you're sticking with black, you can embrace sparkles, ruffles, or whatever else suits your style!

    Becki Newton
A holiday cocktail dress is an easy choice -- stand out in the crowd with a chic white suit. Sure, it's menswear-inspired, but it's completely ladylike. A shimmery little cami underneath and some sexy stilettos, along with a few shiny accessories will make certain you have every head turning your way.

    Reese Witherspoon
If you're wearing a simple dress of any shade, think about going old school with hair, make up, and jewelry. You'll look pretty, polished and perfectly ready to be smooched beneath the mistletoe.

    Nicole Kidman
Christmastime is the perfect time to break out the metallics. Whether you opt for a full metallic dress, a top, a skirt, or even just a scarf. Or, if you're not into wearing metallics, maybe you want to incorporate some metallics into your make up palette in the form of eye shadow or a super shiny lip gloss. At the very least, explore some big, chunky, metallic jewelry, which will liven up even the plainest outfit.

    Diablo Cody
Sure, you could wear a little black dress, but navy adds a little more interest while still giving you the simple, flattering look you want. We love Diablo's trademark leopard print used as an accent, but you could go with sparkles, metallics, or any other funky fabric or color you like.

    Mary Louise Parker
Lace dresses with tights aren't just for little girls going to Sunday school anymore. This look teams sweet and sexy effortlessly, mixing the conservative cut with some sexy hair and make up. With a cut like this (and opaque tights) you could definitely get away with a shorter hemline.

    Elizabeth Pena
Take a cue from this lovely lady and get festive in a bright red dress. These bold shades of red, teamed with the fitted cut and va-va-VOOM neckline make this dress a perfect choice. The only accessory you need is plenty of sass -- red dresses clash with self-consciousness.

    Eva Mendes
Bright colors are always fabulous for a party, and while we'd generally recommend darker jewel tones for a Christmas party, this bright yellow number is gorgeous with Eva's skin and hair. Don't think of only the standard green and red -- think about what looks hot on you. Pinks, purples, even shades of orange could be just what you need.

    Eva Longoria Parker
What's more fitting for a holiday party than satin and bows in a bold color? A bright and shiny cocktail dress like Eva's will be a hit at any party. Just make sure your shoes are hot enough to hold their own!

Eva Longoria Parker and her boobies - I want that!

Sure we liked Eva Longoria when her bod was super tight and toned but we're kind of liking this new junk the trunk Eva just as much. Maybe even more. Her curves, hairdo and Swarvoski crystal adorned Naeem Khan dress make her look like a Latin version of Marilyn Monroe - so soft, feminine and gorgeous.

Two boots in one; A real deal

Filed under: Shoes, Steals and Deals, Daily Obsession

As Patricia Field predicted in our last chat (because we just go ON like BFFs do), legwear is where it's at. And it's not just some dumb trend. How's this for functional: These Legwarmer Boots from Hollywould (Eva Longoria is a devoteeof the brand) have a removable upper shaft, so when you want a full, to-the-knee look, you're good to go. But when you'd rather rock a short bootie, you've got that too.

Two looks in one is so utilitarian you'd think they'd be, well, not hot. But they are gorgeous. And therefore a good investment. What do you think?

Get the look: DVF - We died.

Filed under: Fashion Week, Get the Look

In true Diane von Fursteberg fashion, the show was a mix of everything a fashionable, jet set gal needs – flared denim, flirty dresses, floaty tunics, and sweet accessories. And of course, DVF's signature prints were present in all of the looks; this year taking on the forms of butterflies, stars, tribal and art deco. Though the designer says that the DVF girl is a "rock goddess" this year, Style.com might've said it better when they said she is a "breezy, flower child."

The mostly dress collection was completely phenomenal but the most notable feature on the runway was the models headpieces. Feathers, fringe, and beading adorned long loose hair while Twiggy-esque makeup added to the easy 60's feel of the collection.

To keep the looks modern, the Diane added in some trends du jour – plenty of sparkle, shimmer, transparency, and belts.

We're totally feeling everything about this collection and apparently so are celebs like Eva Longoria and Leighton Meester! The DVF show was one of the most star studded of the week.

Tip of the day: Statement jewelry

Filed under: Accessories, Style Tip of the Day

It's big. It's bold. It's sparkly. It's everywhere. It's statement jewelry. That's what we're talkin' about!

Giant gemstones are making a huge comeback this fall. They can be worn in the most obvious ways with evening wear. But tie on one of Balenciaga or Vera Wang's gorgeous sparklers with a tee shirt and jeans and you just upped your fashion ante tenfold.

Designers are making waves with deliciously decadent costume jewelry but the price tags of $1,000 are a bit lofty for some. But, if there is one accessory to purchase this season, it is a bold statement necklace so check out a mix of price ranges in the costume jewelry gallery.

Eva Longoria to create clothing line?

Just when we thought the celebrity-turned-crappy designer phenomenon had died down, we get this news from our friends across the pond:

Apparently, Desperate Housewives actress Eva Longoria is considering creating a fashion line like her very posh buddy Victoria Beckham. On the prospects of owning her own line, Beckham says: "I would love to design one day. I do not have the time right now but I would love to develop a home line or a clothing line. I am thinking about it."

Hmm, we could stomach a collection of luxe duvets and sheet sets by the petite lady. But frocks? Eh, not so much.
