Do you want to look like an anime character?

Just in case you've always wanted to look like one of those anime characters with the big dreamy eyes, here's your chance:

A Korean company named DueBa makes contact lenses that makes your iris look as if someone drew it in with a big fate permanent marker. As of late, it's been really popular in Asia to walk around with the appearance of an extra from a Sailor Moon movie. Go figure?

The semi-creepy contact lenses cost $50 a pair and come in practically every color under the sun. That includes black too, ladies. So if you're looking to freak anyone out in a major way, you now have a weapon: scary eyes.

Neutrogena large ultra-soft eye makeup remover pads are gigantic

We've been known to skip that whole "wash your face before going to bed" more than once, despite with the resulting mascara modern art pillows.

Rather than switch to black sheets, we decided to try out these Neutrogena Ultra-Soft Eye Makeup Remover Pads, thinking that a novel product would inspire us, no matter how tired or you know, boozed up we might be.

The first thing we noticed is that the jar is telling the truth. They are both soft and large. Very large. So large that they were awkward to use under our eyes and it was impossible to swipe away wayward flecks of mascara without taking off all of our mascara and under eye concealer and starting over.

There was just more pad than we needed, even to clear off a heavy night of going out makeup. We even considered cutting them in half, to make them last longer and be less wasteful.

They work great, and they are super, super soft on our delicate eyes, but so far they haven't inspired us to be more diligent in our bedtime routine. We'll probably stick with the equally effective, smaller/less wasteful seeming, and less expensive Almay Oil Free Makeup Remover Pads we usually use the morning after.

Tip of the day: Shadow for your shape

Filed under: Cosmetics, Style Tip of the Day

Did you know that most makeup tips try to work the eye into an almond shape? It's true. The shape is considered the most flattering and extremely exotic. However, the tips often don't take into consideration those with deep set, wide set, small eyes, round eyes, or heavily hooded eyes. And if you wear glasses? Puh-lease, you'll never find info for that! Except for here that is.

Tip of the day: Best drugstore mascaras

Filed under: Cosmetics, Celebrities with Style, Style Tip of the Day

Over the last decade that we've been wearing makeup (yeah we had one of those dad's that forbid it until we were 16... laaaaame), we have probably tested every single mascara available at our local drugstore – no kidding. We had a great time testing over the years, particularly during a brief period of CVS employment that was strictly for the cosmetic discount. It was basically a crazed 2 month makeup rampage... ahhh the memories.

So after all of this time, we are pleased to share our findings with you.

Ugh, waking up in the morning is a drag. Puffy under eyes and sometimes dark circles – ew! And the most common culprits probably aren't the ones you think they are. Let's take a look.

Tip of the day: How to avoid summer makeup meltdown

Filed under: Cosmetics, Style Tip of the Day

Most of us love the summertime – the sun, the beach, the warmth, the runny makeup... okay, so maybe we don't love all of it. When the weather is hot and you're sweating your face off literally, it is time to readjust your makeup routine so you don't look like a hot mess for the next three months.

Tip of the day: Removing over eye caterpillars, also known as your eyebrows

Filed under: Style Tip of the Day

Nice brows!Sure the eyebrow shape your mama gave you is just the right one for your face. That doesn't mean there isn't a little clean up involved to keep them looking right.

It's a sad fact that some people go so insane with plucking that they have to paint their eyebrows on (why, why, why!?) while others are so unkempt that their uni-brow can be seen from space.

Tip of the day: Mascara 101

Filed under: Cosmetics, Steals and Deals, Style Tip of the Day

The perfect swipe. As women, we want our mascara to be a macho man -- thick, long, long-lasting, conditioning and waterproof. Okay, maybe that was the wrong metaphor but regardless, we expect a lot out of our mascara but we might not be doing our part in meeting our partner half way.

Here are a few helpful hints to get the best show out of your favorite mascara.

Tip of the day: Cosmetic lifespans

Filed under: Cosmetics, Style Tip of the Day

Many of us gals have been the victim of expired cosmetics. Here's the scenario. After seeing pics of that smokin' gloss we used to wear in high school, we rush to our beauty closet only to open the tube to a rank stank that we don't understand. Most beauty products do not have any smell, or if they do, it is very faint. If you start noticing some product BO, it's because that favorite gloss is dying a slow, bacteria-invested death in that dark, tightly sealed tube. Once the product has peaked, it can cause some pretty gross irritations or infections if used. To avoid all of the above, follow these general toss time guidelines.

Chichi vs. simple: Mascara

It's time again to replace our mascara, and once again we are struggling with the decision: drugstore or luxury?

Today's choice is between a return to the reliable and affordable Maybelline Great Lash in Blackest Black, under $5 everywhere, or upping the ante with a trip to Sephora for Dior Show Black Out Limited Edition, almost five times as expensive at $24?

Everyone knows that you should put out as much as you're comfortable spending on high quality base/concealer/face make up. But mascara is open to discussion. Some experts say buy cheap and often, others say that the only way to avoid Liza-like raccoon eyes (assuming you're not going for that look -- sometimes we are) is to splurge on a big name.

Which way do you sway?

Chichi or simple mascara?

Eye on spring: Navy eyeliner

Looking to switch up your look for spring? Maybe you want to find something a little less heavy than regular black eyeliner? You're in luck -- according to The Budget Fashionista, navy eyeliner is the way to go for spring '08.

Models on the spring runway for Narcisco Rodriguez wore an indigo gel liner because, according to Dick Page (the make up artist responsible), "Navy is more mysterious than basic black."

I don't know about the whole "mysterious" thing, but I do like the look. It's just a bit more exciting, adding a little extra "oomph" to your everyday makeup. Plus, it can make the whites of your eyes look a bit brighter (you know, the blue vs. red rule, like when you wear lipstick with a more bluish tone of red or pink, it makes your teeth look whiter -- same thing, only for your eyes).

The Budget Fashionista recommends the L'Oreal HIP Navy Eye Liner Pencil for $8, but I'm sure your favorite makeup brand has their own. Give it a try!
