If you're as big a fan of street fashion as we are around here, you're going to love a new site called streetstyl.es. We think streetstyl.es is going to be the next big at-work-time-waster. (Not that we're complaining! We're bookmarking it now!) New fashion site: Notcouture

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Shoes, Vintage and Retro, Swimwear and Lingerie, Jeans, Men, Dresses

notcouture
As you know, we at Styledash love sharing style blogs with our readers as we come across them in our daily (hourly?) jaunts through the fashionweb, so we could hardly contain ourselves when we found out that design blog NOTCOT had branched out into fashion with Notcouture (excellent play on their original name!).

Not quite a blog, not quite a social site, Notcouture allows fashionistas to sign-up and submit images that link to sites, blog posts, and stores. The result is a gorgeous gallery of clothes, handbags, jewelry, and just about anything else that looks good. Because they launched recently, they've partnered with various stores and brands for discounts and giveaways, so it's definitely worth a peek.

Finding the fashion blogger that's right for you

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Shoes, Dresses, Kids and Babies

Susan WagnerThere's an enormous number of fashion and style sites around the interwebs. While it'd be impossible to read (or even find) these hundreds of thousands of sites, the good news is that with all these perspectives, you're almost certain to find one that speaks to you.

If you're the kind of person that finds ultra-pricey, or uber-trendy fashion out of reach (or just obnoxious), and have been looking for a voice of reason to guide you through the insanity -- look no further than Susan Wagner.

Susan is a style writing machine -- she maintains 4 sites (3 of them related to fashion), and can give you advice on everything from comfort to cost-cutting to what to wear when you're expecting. Check out Friday Style for common sense fashion advice, Work It, Mom! for clothes you can wear before and after the baby arrives, or get a sampling of everything on Susan's BlogHer blog.

And for parents, there's also Susan's personal blog, Friday Playdate.

The Sartorialist looks at kids

Filed under: Style in the News, Kids and Babies

sartorialist kidsOne of the more popular fashion and style blogs out there is The Sartorialist, based in New York. The Sartorialist is known for snapping photos of people in their natural, fashionist states, on the street. A few days ago, The Sartorialist posted that he will be contributing to Cookie, the InStyle/Lucky-style magazine for kids and babies. His contributions will be called "Sartorialist, Jr." with the same sort of "street-style" capture, but instead of regular-sized people, his subjects will be of the smaller set.

From BloggingBaby, we get this random side note: "if you'll read the post, you'll find that The Sartorialist used to be a stay-at-home dad." Now who knew a stay-at-home Dad could have such an eye for style?

A new fashion blog in the works from Gawker

Filed under: Style in the News

gawker's fashion blogAs always, we get excited when we hear about new friends jumping into the pool we call fashion and style blogging, and the new blog from the founder of Gawker is sure to be one that makes a grand old splash. It's still in the works, but the temporary name for it Size0 already indicates it's going to good fun, especially since Elizabeth Spier explanation for why she's starting it is "(A) Someone has to tell those people what to wear, and (B) What Dead Horse Media really lacks is gravitas. Or gravitas in italics, which is far more serious. And what better way to get it than making lingerie recommendations for Britney Spears?"

We can't wait.

Seven Days of Style: Blogs gone shopping

Filed under: Holiday Style, Stores We Love, Accessories, Style in the News, Clothing, Shoes, Jeans, Dresses

blogs gone shoppingIt's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, or whatever Holiday that gets you into a shopping mode, and the fashion blogsophere hits up everything from Target to TopShop. Take a peek at what bloggers were shopping for last week:

Sunday 10/29
- Good grief, it's finally feeling like winter around these parts, and WantNeedHave dons a sweater to go shopping, and hits up Anthropologie for a quick-change, Banana Republic, and Kiehl's.

Monday 10/30 - FabSugar does some FabFinding with black and white and shiny on the brain for chic winter looks: black velvet empire dress and glittery eyeliner at Neiman's, Arden B jacket, Peter Som top from eLuxury, and more. My favorite find is the silver peep toe heels with strap by Guess.

Tuesday 10/31 - The Catwalk Queen lets us know that British TopShop has launched an on online store. Unfortunately, shipping is only to UK addresses for now, but over here, we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Wednesday 11/1 - Wendy O over at Couture in the City browses through the Behnaz Sarafpour collection at Target, calling Sarafpour "the perfect mixture of contemporary trendy and classical chic."

Thursday 11/2 - Montreal-based Parasuco, notable for denim, launches a new, more feminine line called Mademoiselle Parasuco at their first store in San Francisco. Coquette was on hand to check it out, and calls it "so silky and beautiful, you'll be floating in a dream."

Friday 11/3 - Bglam goes shopping for the cooler weather, pointing to scarves and hats from the likes of Burberry, Juicy Couture, and Lacoste. Good tip: "mix high street clothes with designer accessories and everyone will think everything you're wearing cost a whole lot more than it did."

Saturday 11/4 - The Budget Fashionista heads over to Wal-Mart, which "still has a lot of catching up to do in order to compete, in the budget fashion arena, with the Targets and H&Ms of the world" but still picks out some fabulous pieces perfect for the Holidays, and under $20!

Seven Days of Style: Window shopping around the blogosphere

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Shoes, Jeans, Dresses, Cosmetics

shoppings bagsWe know that the world of fashion, beauty and style blogs is growing everyday, so in order to help you keep abreast of what's going on, we've picked seven posts from every day this past week from fellow style bloggers around the world. Keep a lookout every weekend for these little blogosphere roundups, and if you'd like to see yourself mentioned here on Styledash, feel free to send us a tip!

Sunday - We spend the previous week in review around the fashion world, and it looks like California Style saw some good stuff over the Voom by Joy Han show duirng LA Fashion Week. "Winter hasn't even started yet and I'm already excited to wear the spring Voom collection."

Monday - Need a little therapy? Closet Therapy takes a cue from Rachel Bilson in a long tunic sweater and tights, then goes out searching for her own. She finds a fw, but still cannot, for the life of her, find a thinly knit black t-shirt dress anywhere!

Tuesday - With the cold weather settling in, and if you're in LA, cold and hot weather, your skin is taking a beating, I'm sure. The Beauty Addict admits that luxury creams are just for show on any nightstand, but the real moisturizing work is done by an industrial power, Sea of Life Mineral Butter with Fig Extract.

Wednesday - Let's meet fashion blogger extraordinaire, Kristopher Dukes, who was just recently mentioned in WWD. She also does a fabulous job of blogging her signature "Ooh la love"-worthy picks from ThisNext.

Thursday - If your fall closet is looking a little drab with brown, gray, and black, I Am Fashion can show you how to add a little bit of the color of the season: red. Barneys Girl picks things from attainable pieces like little jackets from Anthropologie and Urban Outfitter to uber glam look for the red carpet.

Friday - With fashion taking a turn toward "girl" with babydoll dresses and jumpers, Daddy Likey takes a trip down her junior high lane, pointing to a dress from Alloy.

Saturday - Ask-Fashion-Kitty gets an email from a reader asking about what shoes to wear with a chocolate brown dress for a wedding. Would silver shoes be okay? The Fashion Kitty screams "I would rather see clown shoes with that dress than silver shoes!" Her suggestion for staying within the metallics category is a gorgeous gold sandal with a tiny butterfly detail from Saks, or a matching brown shoe with sparkly accents from Stuart Weitzman. Good call, Fashion Kitty.
