Janice Dickinson's former protégé gets her own show

Filed under: Style in the News

If you haven't heard of Abbey Clancy yet, you probably will soon.

She was last seen in a British TV program called Beauty and the Best (not beast, oh no), in which Janice Dickinson tried to teach her how to be a successful model. It was basically an exercise in cruelty, with Janice and her pals making Abbey network at ghastly parties and walk down sunset Boulevard in revealing swimwear. Janice also informed her she was terrible at posing and at strolling the catwalk, and that she would have to break up with her man (English soccer star Peter Crouch) if she wanted to be successful.

The usual car crash television, basically.

bebe summer 2007
Last week, Fashion TV celebrated their 10-year anniversary in LA with a fashion show featuring Bebe's Summer 2007 line at The Social in Hollywood. I got to go because I'm special like that, and by "special," I mean I somehow weaseled my way in.

Fashion TV under fire in India

Filed under: Style in the News

bollywood dancersWe seem to get away with a lot of skin on TV here in the US, but not so in India. India's Information Minister has warned a fashion-fcoused television channel, Fashion TV, "aganist denigrating culture" for airing what Priyaranjan Dasmunsi considers raunchy. Not only is it raunchy, but Dasmunsi has brought it to attention because the broadcasts are made during children's viewing times. Dasmunsi would like "for Fashion TV channel to think of whether they should confine their program beyond 11 (p.m.)."

The programs in question? Music videos featuring sexy dancers and a suggestive advertisement of a woman licking an ice cream.

Wow. If that were the case here in the US, we'd have nothing but blank screens on tv.
