A little while back we told you about Forgotten Fashion: An Illustrated Faux History of Outrageous Trends and Their Untimely Demise by Kate Hahn, a hilarious book about made up, but all too real, fashions.

For this week's StyleList Giveaway, we have a copy of the book to give to one fashionista who likes to accessorize with her -- or his -- fabulous sense of humor. And it's autographed by the author, Kate Hahn, and Andrae Gonzalo, from Project Runway, who did some of the illustrations.

We already know that the Republican National Committee has laid down over $150,000 on Sarah Palin's wardrobe since she was announced as McCain's running mate -- but rumor has it that she went all outlaw on us when she bought her handbag. According to a Fashionista tipster, Governor Palin has been seen around town carrying a fake Louis Vuitton handbag. Does that make her fiscally conservative, or a cheapskate?

You know the economy is really bad when even royalty has to start cutting back. This year, the Queen of England is ushering in a new era of "Credit Crunch Couture," for a state banquet in Slovakia.

We told you the new Oral B Pulsonic toothbrush was super stylish. Now we have corroboration from NY Fashion Week, where it made an appearance on the Dash & Smooch runway and at the "Ultimate Fashonista Bathroom" over at Style 360.

Oral B partnered with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition interior designer Michael Moloney to create a bathroon inspired by the ultra-slim electric toothbrush. That appeared to involve a lot of silver, which makes sense. Fashionistas love to look at themselves, right? Also, the Pulsonic supposed to make your teeth whiter, and Michael has amazingly white teeth, so it's a natural match.

Who doesn't? Getting free material is the stuff. Going to fancy parties is where it's at. And being recognized for being able to pick clothing out of a closet, dab on lipstick or put hair into a ponytail? Wowza sign us up!

But getting to that higher level requires a little work and know how. Let's take a look at how to get yourself that stylin' position you've always wanted.

The Budget Fashionista wants you to take the TBF Annual Shopping Survey. It only take about five minutes (seriously -- I just took it and you didn't even miss me, did you?) and is anonymous, so you can tell them the scariest shopping secret in your whole closet and nobody will know that it's you.

Last year over 2500 folks took the survey, which not only helps TBF in determining certain elements of the site but also lets you see how you compare to other shoppers. The questions range from how often you shop to where you shop, and go on to ask what you think is a reasonable amount (or how much you'd be willing to spend) on certain items.

The results will be posted on The Budget Fashionista so you can see how others answered those same questions. Or, if you have any really interesting answers, leave them in the comments!

I have a request/complaint for you. Why isn't "fashionista" in your database? I use the word everyday and everyday that annoying little red line highlights the word as a misspelling. It's a word!

Don't believe me? The Urban Dictionary defines it as a word. You can even check out my own definition as proof. Perhaps it will sway you into updating your database. Well, at least think about it.

Fashionista (fash-uh-nee-stuh)

A person who lives, breaths, and bleeds fashion. This individual may or may not be in the fashion industry, but must be an extreme fashion enthusiast. Symptoms of a fashionista include an overstuffed closet, stacks of Vogue, extremely high credit card bills, and bags that cost more than most people's rent.

So spell checker, what do you say? Can you please stop red lining my favorite word in the English language? End of rant. Thank you.

In the past, stylists were the unsung heroes of the fashion world. No longer. Now stylists have their own clothing lines, endorsement deals and red carpet moments. They are even getting their own book. Fashion Week Daily reports that Stylist: The Creation of Style is a 272-page hardcover by Rizzoli Books that ncludes an introduction and interviews conducted by Sarah Mower and a foreword by Vogue editrix Anna Wintour. The coffee table book, which sells for $75 also features 225 photos. It doesn't come out until October which means it could be a great holiday gift for your favorite fashionista.
