Lagerfeld doesn't talk to journalists that stink

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

His wildly eccentric personality and ultra confident belief in his own skills have launched Karl Lagerfeld -- fingerless gloves and all -- into rockstar status in the world of pop culture. He's appearing on t-shirts, videogames, etc. It's a good thing that he's not letting it all go to his head.

Nope, according to this article in fashionologie, Karl's still his same old humble and gracious self. You know, the guy who designs a $1,500 teddy bear. They were able to score an interview with the busy man, who of course made them wait forever, but they got a few interestingly candid quotes from the genius mind of Lagerfeld. Let's see what we can learn from a trip inside Karl's brain -- after the break.

Haute Holiday Gift Guide: For Staying Warm

Filed under: Holiday Style, Clothing, Gift Guides

Oh Baby it's Cold Outside
Baby, it's cold outside.

You know what that means? Cold weather accessories.

We're sure all of you have a basket in the back of the closet packed full of mismatched gloves, scarves and hats. Those things technically keeps you warm but it isn't very stylish is it? Gift yourself or someone else with these stylish accessories.
Cold hands, warm heart: If your fingers can bear it go with a pair of fingerless gloves by Alexander McQueen, the cable knit material is warm and oh-so-chic. If you can't stand the thought of exposing your fingers in chilly temperatures go with these knit gloves by Y-3 (hint, hint they are on sale).

Neck and neck: Scarves of all kinds are in style this winter. Cashmere stripes for a fun and luxurious look, gray rabbit fur for a richer look, bring out your inner ski bunny with Juicy Couture or dare to be different with a cowl neck scarf.

Hothead: What is warmer than fur in the winter? Nothing if you ask me. Protect your ears with hot pink fox fur earmuffs by Chantelle or go full on fur with this lambskin hat by Karl Donoghue.

Boots made for walking: Winter boots don't have to be bulky and ugly, they can be chic instead. For a sportier look go with Juicy Couture. If true couture is your game, then opt for this pair by Dior.

Fingerless gloves are taking over

fingerless glovesFingerless gloves had a short stint when I was in college. I am not sure if was an all out trend or not, considering I believe the reason it started was so college kids could smoke without lighting their fingers on fire.

These days smoking is out and fingerless gloves are in. Gone are the days of fingerless gloves being associated with homeless people, they are now chic and can pull together any mundane ensemble. Sure they won't keep you as warm as a pair of regular gloves will, but this is fashion people ... we don't do practical.

They do have some "practical" elements to them, for example: you can use your Blackberry with ease, you wear them indoors and peck away at your laptop, you can even give people wet willies (okay, that was gross but I was running out of "practical" things).

Designers like Marc Jacobs, Philip Lim, Generra, Dior, and The Breed are all on board for the fingerless glove trend. I am know I am on board, are you?

These fingerless gloves aren't bad

g glove for ladies - fingerless gloves...only because they keep your hands warm with heat from USB-power. Otherwise, I find fingerless gloves to be sort of useless. The fingertips are the most extreme of the extremities and would need the most help to keep warm. Though I cringe at the thought of mentioning her as having a good idea, at least Paris Hilton was wearing partial "gloves" that had the more important part.

But these fingerless G-Gloves also convert into mittens and sport a detachable cable that plugs in via USB, with two heat levels. The G-Gloves are available for $22 in either pink or blue.
