We are loving the trends for fall 2008. They completely juxtapose everything we previously knew about fall and winter clothing. We're looking forward to a vibrant season come October.

Brian Batt at Mad Men wrap party - Style Foul!

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes

There's a reason you never hear the phrase "Lovely Man Flower." Bryan Batt, was kind enough to wear Exhibit A to the Mad Men season two wrap party, demonstrating that there's no such thing as a formal aloha floral pant.

Bryan's character Salvatore Romano is an art director with a secret. Here he's making no secret of his bad judgment. As much as we love a black and white pattern, it works better on a tie. Or curtains, which kind of makes sense when you learn that Bryan is also a interior designer. Maybe he just saw them in the window and had to have them.

Look, at this point we're just grateful he didn't buy the matching jacket. Thank you for small favors, Bryan!

I want that! Joy Bryant's sparkling Missoni dress

Okay, we are just loving us some Joy Bryant this week. Earlier this year she attended the New Yorkers for Children Celebrates New Year's in April party which was hosted by Missoni. Always the good little client, Joy wore this shimmering one shouldered gem by the design house beautifully.

We love how the neutral palette tones the dress down just right. So instead of looking like she fell off "The Love Boat," she ended up looking radiant as ever.

Please note the simplicity of the accessories and the pocket(!) which allow Joy to keep her casual elegance in such a glittering, glamazon look. A single silver bracelet, gold pumps and a small gold clutch. That's it.

Ah Joy brings us so much Joy. (Sorry, had to.)

Tip of the day: Liberty prints

Filed under: Style Tip of the Day

Liberty prints are everywhere. We've seen them on Kate Moss. We've seen them on Keira Knightly. Even on British socialite Peaches Gelfdoff. And if you haven't guessed Captain Obvious, these prints are as English garden as they come.

Designers are tapping in and bringing these charming prints across the pond via floaty, bohemian tops, simple sundresses, summer scarves, chunky shoes and of course, sweet English style tea dresses. Mixing Americana with English rose has never looked so good!

Why aren't you wearing this? Yummi Glass Pansy Necklace

Some of the best accessories in the world are based on elements of nature. And, especially in the summer, we're rather partial to floral accessories, especially when they have a bold, funky edge to them.

Why aren't you wearing this? Nine West Lovable Flat

Filed under: Accessories, Shoes, Must Haves

When we first saw this shoe, we thought, "Huh. That's cute. It looks like something we would have worn back in our childhood days," and we dismissed it from our thoughts. And then we saw it again, and the appeal was still there, but this time without any thoughts of playgrounds and Sunday school -- we realized we wanted this shoe in the here and now. Especially since it's on sale at Piperlime.

Why aren't you wearing this? Trina Turk 'Poppy' Cover-Up

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Must Haves

Does the idea of strutting your stuff in a string bikini make you cringe? Some women get so concerned about wearing a bathing suit in public that they forget about the one item that should be at the top of their shopping lists for beach season -- a cute cover-up.

If you've got some extra bulges to hide, or just want to be modest, don't settle for an old tee and a pair of gym shorts -- treat yourself to a swimsuit cover-up that you truly love.

Why aren't you wearing this? Santa Monica Beach Tote

Okay, you've got sunscreen, towels, phone, camera, book, magazine, iPod, sarong, sunglasses, and a change of clothes -- you're ready to hit the beach. But how are you going to carry all your beach bound goodies?

Don't throw it in a boring old straw beach tote -- pack a bag you can take into a cute beach boutique or cafe and leave the purse at home.

Why aren't you wearing this? Natasha Skinny Headband with Flower

Headbands are no longer for the eight-and-under playground crowd -- thanks to Gossip Girl, headbands are showing up everywhere. We're loving it because it gives us fashionistas yet another way to take an everyday outfit from ordinary to off the hook.

Marc Jacobs: Victoria is a thumb-sucker

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Dresses, Celebrities with Style

Chalk up another seemingly incomprehensible ad concept for Marc Jacobs and advertising crew. As opposed to the last go-round, where they managed to make Victoria look like some kind of Iggy Pop stunt double, Jacobs' April ad has the former Spice Girl curled up in a fetal position and sucking her thumb.

Why the yellow kitchen gloves? Is that a hygiene thing? Maybe this image is supposed to represent the uncertainty Posh feels about her lagging clothing line, or just life in the States. It's colorful, I give it that.

Chloe Sevigny's clothing line is just what you'd expect: FUG-tastic

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style, Celebrity Fashion Mistakes

Chloe Sevigny has designed a clothing line for Opening Ceremony. You know, because she always looks so great on the red carpet. And Gary Busey is sane and Paris Hilton is classy.

I mean, yes, I get it -- Chloe Sevigny loves the '80s and early '90s the way Sharon Stone loves to wear dead animals. And both are horrible crimes against nature. And, you know, I understand that we can't control her when she makes public appearances -- that's for a stylist, or an alligator wrestler, or someone more daring than myself to handle. However, allowing the girl to design clothes that other people are supposed to wear? She must be stopped.

I looked through the collection, and I think I found a pair of shoes I might wear. In the yard. If I was sure none of my neighbors would stop by. I also saw a few pieces that scream "Laura Ashley's Ladies of the Night." Good grief -- a woman should never have to worry about whether a rose pattern on her leggings makes it look like she has camel toe. Say it with me now ... SexAY!

Thinking about giving flowers for Valentine's Day? Try Prada instead.

Kristopher Dukes loves these shoes, and so do I. Guys, forget about giving some lame bouquet of roses for Valentine's Day -- if she even bothers to put them in water, they'll still die within a few days. But Prada? Prada is always a gift worth giving.

These Prada Floral Heeled Peep Toe shoes are the perfect combination of sexy and sweet. Sexy is a 4" heel and a little peep toe; sweet is a flower stem and beautiful bloom serving as that sexy 4" heel.

And who says you need to wait around for someone to give these to you as a gift? Get your sexy self a pair and make your own Valentine's dreams come true. Because, really, who's going to resist you strutting your stuff in heels like that?

Prada Floral Heeled Peep Toe, $590.

Street Scene: Seen at Katana, West Hollywood

alexander mcqueen heels at katana
Venue: Katana Restaurant
Location: West Hollywood, CA
Time: Let's just say it was "late."
Subject: Tall, dark, and very chic lady surrounded by about 3 (was it 4?) equally chic men

Though the buzzlicious heyday of restaurant Katana on Sunset in West Hollywood has come and gone, I am having a bit of a renewed love affair with the smoky robata, the sexy shots of fancy sake, and most importantly, the scene on the patio that's always wall-to-wall beautiful people.

And when I say "beautiful," I mean as drop-dead gorgeous as these perfectly pink satin shoes we spied in the bar area. At first, you might be turned off by what would seem a gaudy floral attachment at the back of the ankles, but ladies, be not ye so quick to judge! These Alexander McQueen platform sandals with an ankle strap were stunning, paired with a simple outfit on top.

Dress of the Day: Vivienne Tam Kimono Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

vivienne tam kimono dressI have to admit, I have been a little unfair in my daily pick of a dress. I have knowingly excluded a certain type of dress, and not just once. I'm not exactly sure what it is about the dress or why I am so exclusive, since I have never even worn one.

But today is the day I let the Kimono Dress into the club. I still won't wear one, but that shouldn't stop anyone else from slipping into the 100% silk brown and tan floral print kimono dress by Vivienne Tam. I think I am okay with this dress because the print is far more subtle than the bright red and pink cherry blossom prints I'm used to seeing. The dress features solid black satin trim on the short sleeves, empire waist, and the deep V-neckline. Perfect for matching black shoes -- I am thinking you should definitely stay away from white tube socks and flipflops on this one.

The Kimono print dress is on sale at Neiman Marcus for $244.
