Lemondrop's Super Bowl Mania Tips

SteelersThe Super Bowl. It's probably one of the few football games we watch all year. Why? The commercials are hilarious and it's an excuse to dive into taco dip head first. But what exactly do you wear to such a manly extravaganza? (Remember ladies, this is like the equivalent to Sex and the City: The Movie for guys so you've got to respect their feelings, too, and dress like one of the boys.)

Jillian Barberie Reynolds Thinks You Should Stop Trying So Hard

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Interviews

Jillian Barberie Reynolds has spent the close to 10 years in front of the camera for The NFL on Fox, so she knows all about hanging with the boys without becoming "one of the guys." She gave us tips on dressing for this weekend's Super Bowl parties (mainly, don't look like you're trying too hard), navigating the buffet while keeping your girlish figure, and how to work it for the camera.

Jillian Barberie Reynolds

What should stylish ladies wear if they're going to the Super Bowl? How about to a party? You know, for a "Fashion Touchdown"?
A cute, tight pair of jeans (my favorite right now is J Brand – so priceless), and I wear YSL heels with the super double platform because they're kind of chunky and if I have to walk through somebody's backyard it's not like stilettos. And a little Cosabella top with a cashmere cardigan over it. But always formfitting and tight to the body, with a big hobo bag -- be causal, not like you're trying too hard. The last thing a guy wants is to bring a super high maintenance girl to a Super Bowl party. Jeans, a cute tight t-shirt, and a cashmere cardigan because you never know how late the game's going to go, and you want to be comfortable.

Since you've fit into a range of sizes, and you've been pregnant, do you have tips on looking hot for women who don't fit into the small sizes?
With today's fashions, you can get away with just about anything. I used to think you couldn't wear the skinny jeans if you're a little bit bigger, but I've seen girls that are way curvier do it, and they look amazing. I think that if you're confident in your body, you can pull anything off. Like, Jessica Simpson, they're giving her a hard time right now, but she's just curvy. I wouldn't fall slave to trends, though, if I was bigger. I think you have to really accentuate the positive stuff, so I would say trendy dressing isn't really a good thing.

Did you ever score with a football hottie? If so, what were you wearing?
That's funny – I've got my husband sitting right here. Yeah, I dated a couple of football players. We went to lunch. I wore jeans and a cute cami. I don't try too hard – my off-season outfits are always with jeans. But that was many moons ago. Jeans and cute little camisole and a little army jacket. The signature L.A. dating uniform is jeans, stilettos, and a super cute blouse.

Do you have tips for real women for posing in front of the camera? Still and video?
Jut your hip to the side a little bit, and tilt yourself to the side a little bit. Show some cheek, they call it.

Super Bowl parties are always filled with diet-derailing foods. What are your tricks for staying slim in those situations?
Well, you know, it's easy. When you're doing the Super Bowl like I've done, you know you're going to be in front of millions of people ... and there's nothing worse than feeling fat on camera. I'm a big believer in not doing the snacks beforehand, or the hors d'oeuvres, and just going right for, like, the Super Bowl chili. And not having it with cornbread. And not drinking beer with it.

If you were throwing the party or bringing food, what would you make or buy?
Turkey chili. Turkey chili! That's my go-to. The turkey chili I cook is the best because it's healthy and people like chili on football days. They like drinking beer and eating chili and cornbread.

Adorable.Fans, you know what to do. Get out your jersey and your jeans (or, where appropriate, tiny cheerleading uniforms). But for those of us with no jerseys, or perhaps just a desire to rise above the norm, here is a guide for what to wear to a Super Bowl party.

See's Game Day Candy Makes Football Fun for Everyone, Especially Your Hostess

Filed under: Holiday Style, Haute Home

see's game day candyFootball season is long. Not that we're tired of watching it, or having folks over to catch the game. After all, the (endless) college rivalry games, the bowl games, the tradition of watching hours and hour and hours of football while nursing a hangover on New Year's Day...it's the American way.

Fantasy Flashion Football

Finally, fantasy football means what you think it means!

The tagline of the Lingerie Football League should probably be pads, panties and pasties, and there should probably be air quotes around the word football.

The girls look like they're catching porcupines, and the noise level can only be termed shrill. But for all you dudes, and ladies who love ladies, the wait is over for a rough trade version of the porn movie pillow fight.

We have to imagine that at least half the fun of watching is waiting for the inevitable wardrobe malfunction. Underwire bras are hard enough to keep in place when you're in the office, reaching for something on a high shelf. We expect most of the "uniforms" slip up and over the girls, flashing the whole stadium on the first tackle. It's not football, it's a flashion show!

The video is moderately safe for work, but you'll feel dumber after watching it.

Fashionable football fans - Vintage school tees

We can't deny that we love watching a college football game and seeing the stands filled with school colors and pictures of mascots -- it creates this amazing feeling of team spirit and unity, and we're complete suckers for it. However, it's really unfortunate that so many college tees seem to cram as many images and words and ridiculously bright colors onto the front and back of each shirt as possible. Spirited, these shirts might be, but they are also ugly.

If you're opting to wear a t-shirt representing your school, find one that stands out. The old-school mascots and vintage tees are still very in, whether it was your mom's shirt from the seventies or you just bought it new.

Fashionable football fans - Options for the fellas

Sure, football is a good excuse for guys to get together to grill, drink beer, argue about plays and stats -- to put it simply, it's a great way for them to bond. But, for the halfway fashion conscious guy, it's also a perfect chance to dress to impress. Because you have automatic colors to work with, you have the ability to play around a little more with the form while still looking like "one of the guys."

Think about how men dressed for sporting events 50 years ago -- they didn't need loud graphics to show their school spirit. Instead, they relied on classic pieces in the right colors, and that's something that's easy for you to do, too.

Fashionable football fans - Options for the ladies

Football season is upon us, and we here at StyleList could not be more excited. We love the fervor leading up to the game. We love the social aspect and the tailgating. And, of course, we love football itself, even if some of the uniforms aren't as stylish as we'd like.

When attending a game, tailgate. or party, you probably want to wear something that shows your support for your team. However, this year we're going to ask you to get a little creative. Do you really think your old t-shirt and jeans is the best ensemble you can come up with? You dress well every other day, especially for social events -- this should be no different.

Gola means goals: Score some with your feet

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Shoes, Vintage and Retro, Men, Kids and Babies

Gola brand shoes have been popular in the United Kingdom for over one hundred years. Yes, 100 years. Anything that can stay in style that long has got to have something going for it.

It is believed that the name is Gola is an anagram of 'goal,' which led to their first ad campaign "Gola means Goals" which you may have noticed sitting totally stolen in homage atop this post (followed by some lame attempt at a football tie-in, but what do we know, we call it soccer).

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

We're pretty excited about the latest line of t-shirts from No Mas. The Ecstasy of Defeat collection is a series of t-shirts devoted to the world of sports and the glorious agony that is defeat. If someone fell short of exceptions you may very well find them here.

David Beckham talks about his career as an underwear model

Filed under: Style in the News, Men, Celebrities with Style

David Beckham may not have a future as an underwear model. Women everywhere went gaga for the huge Armani billboard featuring Becks in his skivvies. Probably the only female on the entire planet who wasn't happy about seeing the sexy soccer man's package on display was his "mum." As soon as she heard about her half naked son out on display she called to ask him what the heck he was doing! Keep reading to watch a clip of David's interview with Jay Leno.

NFL may force players to cut their hair

Now that ESPN is going fashion-forward, and NBA players are showing up on Vogue covers, I suppose this was only a matter of time. The National Football League, an institution that has never, ever cared at all about fashion, is considering outlawing long hair on the field.

This is good move, because some of these guys are in serious need of a trim. Long, scraggly locks are only cool for 1990s Metallica fans and characters in romance novels -- not for guys who make untold millions of dollars and are worshipped by men everywhere.

As you might suspect, this doesn't really have anything to do with fashion, and is intended more as a safety measure. Players who let their man-manes hang out are more likely to have their hair pulled while being tackled, and that hurts -- a lot. In fact, if the rule is passed, players won't even be required to cut their hair -- which, for obvious reasons, is unfortunate.
