As was mentioned earlier, IMG star Gemma Ward has taken a break from the modeling industry to focus more on her budding acting career.
Recently, she starred in the horror flick The Strangers, starring Liv Tyler. And if everything goes accordingly, she may have another chance to play a crazed killer behind a funny mask once again:
Variety reports Rogue Pictures, the studio that produced the eerie film, is planning on making a sequel to their summer hit. The flick cost them a mere $9 million to make and it grossed a whopping $54 million. Production is slated to begin at the beginning of 2009.
Maybe this time Gemma will have a speaking part -- stay tuned!

A foursome of fashion's most famous were on hand yesterday to ring the closing bell at the end of the trading day at the NASDAQ stock exchange. Designers Nicole Miller and Betsey Johnson were on hand, as well as model Gemma Ward and IMG fashion vice-president Fern Mallis. After counting down from ten, the women pressed the closing bell, then signed their names to an electronic board, which broadcast their signatures on billboards around Times Square. Admittedly, no one in this group was an avid follower of the NASDAQ. But NASDAQ shouldn't take that personally, especially considering that the largely-male NASDAQ traders probably weren't avid wearers of Johnson's off-kilter designs or Nicole Miller's elegant gowns.Filed under: Runway Trends, Style in the News, Celebrities with Style
Trust me, every model out there has aspirations of one day becoming an actress/model. So, it came as no surprise to me that Australian supermodel Gemma Ward is trying her hand at the acting-thing in a new movie "Stranger." Eighteen-year-old Ward, who was the youngest model to ever grace the cover of Vogue, will be starring opposite Liv Tyler in the suspense thriller set to be released in October 2007. When I saw this video on YouTube, I practically fell out of my chair. Few things in the world are as funny or as charming as watching that little Gemma Ward and her model buds sporting Afros and lip syncing to Beyonce.
It's so delightfully middle school slumber party, isn't it? I half expected a poster of Patrick Swayze to suddenly appear on the wall. But good for them -- after all, when you make $2000 a day just to look pretty, you really shouldn't take yourself that seriously.
