I want that! Blake Lively in Michael Kors

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Get the Look

Stylish actress Blake Lively brought her fashionable mother to the Michael Kors show during New York's fashion week. While they both looked equally glam, we'd have to say that Blake's contemporary take on a Mod shift dress stole the show.

Simply accessorized with a black exotic skin clutch and black strappy heels, Blake knew that she just had to let that dazzling dress shine.

In true Diane von Fursteberg fashion, the show was a mix of everything a fashionable, jet set gal needs – flared denim, flirty dresses, floaty tunics, and sweet accessories. And of course, DVF's signature prints were present in all of the looks; this year taking on the forms of butterflies, stars, tribal and art deco. Though the designer says that the DVF girl is a "rock goddess" this year, Style.com might've said it better when they said she is a "breezy, flower child."

The mostly dress collection was completely phenomenal but the most notable feature on the runway was the models headpieces. Feathers, fringe, and beading adorned long loose hair while Twiggy-esque makeup added to the easy 60's feel of the collection.

To keep the looks modern, the Diane added in some trends du jour – plenty of sparkle, shimmer, transparency, and belts.

We're totally feeling everything about this collection and apparently so are celebs like Eva Longoria and Leighton Meester! The DVF show was one of the most star studded of the week.

I want that! Lanvin gown

The Gossip Girl's certainly did their thing at the 2008 Teen Choice Awards. While Blake went short and flirty, Leighton went long and elegant and boy did her choice pay off. She looked absolutely stunning in her emerald green draped Lanvin dress. Though it's cliché to say – goddess anyone?

The belt and platform peep toes kept the look modern and youthful.

We feel as though we should be bowing her Leighton's presence or applauding opera style – brava Leighton, brava!

I want that! Tadashi Shoji one shoulder dress

All American actress Blake Lively was one of the best tressed and best dressed at the Teen Choice Awards in LA on August 3. She walked the carpet and accepted her surfboards for Choice TV Actress Drama and Choice TV Breakout Star Female in a cobalt Tadashi Shoji one shouldered mini dress.

The look was accessorized with a wide corset belt, black pumps, and a huge sparkly cocktail ring (we're sure she borrowed that one!). Without the belt, we're not sure we'd be feeling the dress as much but leave it to a Gossip Girl to have the fashion sense to pull it together and make it a hit.

Gossip Girl Look for Less: Serena's downtown prep look

Filed under: Style in the News, Steals and Deals

gossip girl Serena from Gossip Girl knows how to make a school uniform look cool. In this picture she is wearing her favorite Nanette Lepore sequined sweater over top of her school uniform. The problem is the sweater alone will cost you around $300, a little too much for a girl on a budget.

This look takes a bit of creativity, as the cardigan is pretty much one a a kind. I took an over-sized gray cardigan and draped a sequin scarf around the collar to achieve the look. Of course you could also go nuts at the fabric store and attempt to create your own version of this hip sweater as well.

Gossip Girl just might be the hottest TV show of the season. If you aren't familiar with it, Gossip Girl is a show about a bunch of spoiled rich high school kids who live like adults. As ridiculous as the show's premise is, like junk food, it is addictive. I can't seem to get enough of the clothes on the show.

Apparently, StyleDash readers can't get enough either, so we're putting together "Gossip Girl Looks." Inspired by what is on the screen, we look to real-life brands and stores. Today's look is Serena's prep school look:

Get the 'Gossip Girl' look: "The arrival"

gossip girl fashion the arrivalI know when I return from a day of traveling I usually look more road weary. But if you are spoiled rich kid from Manhattan's Upper East Side returning from a stint in boarding school you tend to dress a little better.

In the pilot episode of 'Gossip Girl,' the character Serena looked like she stepped right out of a catalog. She's wearing a striped top, black straight-legged jeans, a camel colored jacket, and, of course, a Louis Vuitton piece of luggage.

Please remember that Serena is in high school. When I was in high school my outfit would have looked something like this: a Jansport backpack, Mudd Jeans and a top from Wet Seal. I suppose times have changed, huh?

I have carefully crafted Serena's outfit so you can look just as chic, but for a bit less.
Please note that these are "inspired" looks created by me and not the pieces used in the show, but they are pretty darn close.
