Filed under: Style in the News

Which recently former editor-in-chief at a troubled, iconic scene and style mag is job hunting after his title was recently down-graded to editor-at-large?

Lindsay Lohan - Reinvention of a Smart Girl

Lindsay Lohan, secret genius? Photo: Getty Images

When Paris Hilton was taking over the world, dancing from the table-tops of New York nightclubs to the world's TV screens through her hit reality show "The Simple Life," even sensible media outlets occasionally debated the issue of whether this seeming air-head was, in fact, an undercover genius. No such question was ever asked of Lindsay Lohan.

Now, I'm not so sure.

This week, Lindsay Lohan's Twitter page became the most compelling thing on the Internet. Named after her self-tanner (Sevin Nyne) and leggings (6126) ranges, http://twitter.com/sevinnyne6126 has become a unique combination of diary, dialog and self-generated gossip column possible only in the Twitter age.

CFDA Awards Gossip, And What To Call Diane Von Furstenberg If You're Stuck In An Elevator

Is it pronounced "Die-ann" or "Dee-ahn?" Photo: Getty Images

It was almost a baptism.

New York's fashion elite is not happy moving to Lincoln Center -- either for the twice-yearly fashion shows, or the annual Council of Fashion Designers of America awards, which christened the venue last night with its first appearance. So when storm clouds dumped on the red carpet like a Cathy Horyn review, many saw it as a grim omen.

In fact, it was a blessing. After a swift wash from the heavens ("cleaning the New York away," was how one veteran fashionista described it), the storm moved on and the Alice Tully Hall sparkled in the unexpected sunshine. Models wearing the clothes of nominated designers stood on a pyramid of stairs in the crisp air as guests filed in for champagne, making the lobby look like the world's best-dressed gay pride event (except with real women).

Secretly Straight Models, Socialites for Sale, and Sexy Burns - Cut the Labels 3/26/09

Filed under: Style in the News

Which international male fashion model, in an unusual twist, is secretly straight? The openly gay film actor he's dating (and having pay for his lifestyle) doesn't know about the girlfriend he keeps back home.

Which fashion-forward socialite is secretly selling the family jewels through a middle-man in Italy so her friends don't find out the family has run out of money? This will come as a rude shock to the two generations beneath her, who don't realize the inheritance is largely gone.

Which NYC fashion editor tried to explain away curious wounds on his face as shaving cuts? In fact they were chemical burns left by amyl nitrate, a sex-enhancing drug, spilled during a drunken tryst.

Jennifer Lopez - Ditching Wedding Ring Was a Fashion Statement

Filed under: Accessories, Celebrities with Style

Marc Anthony and Jennifer LopezYou might have noticed that notorious diva, Jennifer Lopez, hit the red carpet last weekend with her husband, but without her wedding ring. And, of course, that got a lot of tongues wagging -- is a divorce on the horizon? Not so much, according to JLo. She simply didn't wear her wedding ring because it clashed with her dress.

Jennifer Aniston looks awesome after losing 170 lbs of idiot

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

The gossip rags are saying that the May-December romance of the century, Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer, is over. So soon? But they didn't even have a cute name yet!

Actually we are delighted for Jen, especially since People reports that she looks better than ever. John Mayer is such a tool, and he's had an insidious effect on the style of previous girlfriends, most notably Jessica Simpson.

Oops! Ashley Tisdale's new doll has pre-surgery nose

Whoever designed Ashley Tisdale's latest doll isn't very detail oriented.

As you're probably aware, the High School Musical star recently opted to exchange her old nose for a newer, sleeker model because she was "having trouble breathing." The actress was very open about having work done, and the procedure was subsequently reported in seemingly every gossip mag on the face of the planet.

In fact, only if you spent the month of December holed-up in an anti-media cave, covering your ears and singing "I can't hear you!" could you have possibly missed this scintillating piece of celebrity gossip.

Yet somehow it made it past toy makers, who recently revealed a Tisdale doll with pre-surgery nostrils. Oops!

Don't you just hate it when you go through all the trouble of scoring a shiny new schnoz, and the world can't forget the old one? Maybe Disney can market this doll as the "nostalgia" model.

News from the gossip front

What would the week be without a healthy dose of gossip about the fashion biz? Here are a few juicy details from Vogue UK that might have passed under your radar during the work week:

Brit It-Chick Peaches Geldof will be joining Kate Moss as one of the new celebrity designers for TopShop London. Geldof (who I've honestly never heard of before) will be creating her own line of teen jewelry. This is, of course, bad news for British parents who must be very worried that their teenage daughters will soon be taking cues from someone named "Peaches".

Cindy Crawford will be the new face of Remington (not the gun manufacturer -- it's the grooming appliance company).

Tyra Banks has been seeking man advice from an unlikely guru: poet Maya Angelou. The former poet-laureate suggested that should Tyra slow down and try to write poems about her ideal man. Poems, eh? Not match.com or eharmony.com? Well, it's worth a try right? Here's my own poem about my ideal man:

There once was a man named Clooney,
Whose face seemed to glow like the moony.
His pepper-grey hair and heart-melting stare
I confess, does make me quite loony.
