Handwritten Notes with Style

Filed under: Holiday Style, Haute Home, Interviews, Kids and Babies

We think that a heartfelt, hand-written thank you note or letter never goes out of style. What better way to show someone how much they mean to you than stopping to take the time to write to them with pen and paper in today's fast-paced, e-mail/Twitter/Facebook driven world? Fortunately there are those out there who agree with us, like Tanea Smith, the owner & creative director of a chic paper goods company called She's Got Papers.

Celebrating the facts of life

A few months ago, my boyfriend and I purchased a home. The move, while it seemed sensible and natural to the two of us, was a thing of true confusion to the older, more traditional members of my family. My grandmother, who is known for her "helpful convivialities" made the point that "things sure have changed since I got married." Well, maybe she was right -- things have changed. I'm willing to accept her disapproval, but my only regret is that I didn't have some clever ammo to toss back in her direction -- like the co-habitation announcement card from Other Announcements. The card reads, "We're living together. Because unlike the Clairol commercial, he's not sure I'm worth it. But I'm sure that I am, so stay tuned for further highlights." Brilliant, isn't it?

Other Announcements also has greeting cards that address some of life's other more delicate situations -- plastic surgery, a broken engagement, coming out of the closet, and unemployment. I'm no PR expert, but I have to say, humor seems like a pretty good tactic.
