Lily Allen Goes Blonde

Oh, Lily! The singer is the "mane" attraction in a platinum blonde wig. Photo: WENN.com

I don't know if the blonde wig Lily Allen wore out on the town last night was supposed to throw off the paparazzi, or if she was just trying to rock a Chrissy Snow of "Three's Company'" vibe. Regardless, I'm a bit confused.

If she was attempting to go incognito, nice try! Allen hit up celeb haunt Nobu in London's ritzy Mayfair neighborhood with none other than her ex, one of the Chemical Brothers.

But let's say it was purely a style thing she was going for, well, she's already proven that she looks good in every hair color (from black to bright pink), few can say the same. So why not just bite the bullet, bust out the bleach and lose the costume shop wig?

In either case, Allen looked hot, so mission accomplished, I guess.

Leave a comment telling us what do you think of Lily Allen's blonde locks?

Bret Michaels Has a Hairy Evening at Tony Awards

Looks like Bret Michaels took the request to hit the the stage literally! He got up with his band, Poison, to sing "Nothin' But a Good Time" at the Tony Awards last night, but it's safe to say Michaels had anything but a good time.

The headbanger-turned-reality star performed alongside the cast of musical "Rock of Ages," and all went well until Michaels turned to leave the stage, at which point he ran into a descending prop -- you can watch the drama unfold in the video below.

The exact extent of his injuries aren't known just yet, but, according to PopEater, Tonys spokesperson, Christina Stejskal, said that Michaels did not break his nose.

This leaves us wondering one thing -- if Bret hadn't been sporting the cowboy hat, do you think his awesomely big hair would've cushioned him from injury entirely? Quite possible!

Jamie Lee Curtis Wigs Out in Pink

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Hair Cut and Style

Hey Activia lady! What's with the pink hair?

Jamie Lee Curtis has long been one of our Hollywood favorites. She seems so real, and obviously, she's a lot of fun. For pete's sake, the 50-year-old showed up at the Noche De Ninos Gala and Concert this weekend in a bright pink wig.

Curtis was being presented with the Courage to Care Award at the gala, which was held to benefit the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. And, it turns out the pink wig wasn't just a fashion statement -- a 15-year-old (who lost her battle with cancer) had given it to her. What better opportunity to wear it than at an event for the Children's Hospital?

We have to say, we're glad this isn't a permanent look for Curtis. However, she's far from the only star who's tried out a hair color not found in nature -- check out the gallery to see who else has gone pink (and blue, and green). Let us know who your favorite is in the comments!

Strapped for Cash? Sell Your Hair!

Filed under: Beauty Tips, Hair Cut and Style

Over the last few years, donating one's hair to charities like Locks of Love has become increasingly popular.

But these days, when recessionistas want a new pair of shoes (or a purse, or, you know, food to put on the table), there's just not as much money in the bank as there used to be. So, it comes as no surprise that women are now selling their hair for cash.

Companies like TheHairTrader.com, which claims to be the world's largest independent hair sale site, pay top dollar for lustrous locks. The site is receiving as many as 1,000 requests for information a day -- that's a lot of women willing to chop it all off for some fast money.

And in some cases, we're talking real money. For long, high quality hair, you could be paid more than $2,000 (the site's current record is $2600). Don't count on that kind of cash, though -- most folks won't come near that amount. And, as is the case with charity, some hair might not be suitable. So, if you've been a bleach blonde for years, don't expect to pay off your credit cards with a fistful of damaged hair.

Here's the question: Would you cut your hair off for some extra dough? If so, let us know in the comments how much you'd have to be paid in order to go short.

And hey, if you're thinking about cutting it all off (for money, charity, or just the heck of it), check out the gallery below for inspiration!

Christo Dishes on Short Dos

Gennifer Goodwin made a seemingly overnight tress-formation, appearing at the He's Just Not That Into You premiere on February 2 with long, wavy locks. Two days later, she rocked a straight, shoulder-grazing bob. We're loving the new do - how about you?

Paris Hilton has joined the Katie & Posh Club, shrinking her long blonde locks into a chin-length crop. We say "shrinking" because it's hard keep tabs on the extension-fanatic's true lock length. But hey, when you have your own line of hair extensions (Hilton's line is called DreamCatchers), your chameleon-like hair length is your best advertisement. Before you follow Hilton's, lead check out what stylist to the stars Christo told StyleList about how to pull off a short do.

    Victoria Beckham: Short Do

"Victoria has a great bob that works with her style," says Christo. "There are not too many hair textures that can pull off this look; it has to be fine and straight." One advantage of a shorter cut? "They are fun to play with and can be very versatile. Ask your stylist how to play around with styling tools to create different looks."

"Anne's stylist played it safe and gave her a short bob cut. She's a very pretty girl but this look doesn't accentuate her beauty," explains Christo. "With her facial structure, I would go with a shorter cut like Selma Blair's."

Angelina Jolie Shows Her Dark Side... Again

Angelina - From Brown to Blond to Black, and Back

Angelina's nearly black wig for Evelyn A. Salt is quite chic and sleek. Wonder if she'll borrow this look in real life?

We told you last month that Angelina Jolie was flipping her wig in her new flick, "Evelyn A. Salt," but we just can't get enough of the hair color changes. New photos show the beauty going from brash and blonde to sexy and subdued in an almost black wig.

Angelina could shave her head and still be stunning! But even if she can get away with any hue, we definitely have our preferences. Let us know which of Jolie's many shades you prefer by voting in the poll.

Is Kim Kardashian Gettin' Wiggy With It?

Filed under: Hair Care, Celebrities with Style, Beauty Tips, Hair Cut and Style

James Devaney, WireImage

As the days get brighter, so do the locks of your favorite celebrities.

In the past couple of weeks, both Jessica Alba and Halle Berry have spring-ified their dark 'do's with lighter highlights. So when we saw this recent photo of Kim Kardashian, we thought she was jumping on the blond bandwagon as well.

But, in her latest blog entry, Kim reveals that she punked us all. The curvy reality star writes, "It's a wig! Did I have you fooled? I did a fabulous photo shoot this weekend for Scott Barnes' book About Face. Chuckie Amos did the hair and transformed me with this blond wig and they put this hair piece on! I haven't taken it off since, because I'm really loving the look."

We love Kim's exotic beauty, and are happy to see that she's still a stunning brunette (In our opinion, there are enough cookie-cutter blonds in Hollywood). Here's hoping that Kim wasn't so wigged out by her temporary look that she decides to make it permanent.

Jessica Alba Lightens Up

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Hair Cut and Style

When the days start getting longer and tulips begin to bloom, we never fail to find ourselves in our stylist's chair begging for a brighter, blonder 'do. And we're not the only ones -- Jessica Alba was spotted out and about yesterday with seriously lighter locks.

We're happy to hear that the highlighted tresses are for her latest film, "The Killer Inside Me," because we think this babe is better as a brunette. But then again, Ms. Alba could spike her hair and dye it purple and look better than us at our very best.

What do you think?

Is Jessica Alba better as a blond or brunette?

Sally Hershberger On Giving Your Hair Guts

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Interviews, Hair Cut and Style

celebrity stylist sally hershbergerSally Hershberger is a titan in the world of hair.

She works with some of the biggest names in Hollywood, like Julia Roberts, Cindy Crawford and dreamy Zac Efron. Chair time with Sally starts at $800, and with good reason -- one of her best known coif creations is the shag she gave Meg Ryan for the 1995 film French Kiss, which inspired women everywhere to emulate Meg's cool, piece-y, "messy on purpose" look.

StyleList talked to Sally about spring hair trends, getting the most out of your cut (read: saving $$ by making it last a litte longer), and her new line of products for layered hair, aptly named "Shagg."

Drew Barrymore Proves Braids Are a Spring Trend

Filed under: Celebrities with Style, Hair Cut and Style

Just yesterday we were giving you the scoop on French braids as a spring hair trend -- Jessica Simpson showed us just how chic the style can be. Well, it didn't take long to catch on. Drew Barrymore was sporting a French braid similar to Jessica's yesterday on "Live With Regis and Kelly!"

Drew's 'do showed why any girl with highlights (or lowlights) can really benefit from a fun braid (just look at the depth her color adds to the look). We also loved that it wasn't too precious -- her braid was full of texture and fullness, and the back of her hair was pinned up in a bunch of funky twisted braids.

So what have we learned? First of all, French braids are officially hot -- learn it, love it. Second, don't try to make it perfect -- smooth and sleek is overrated. Bumps and messy, spiky ends are where it's at!

Hair Trend: Braids, Big & Little

From big and chunky the tiny and messy, braids are a must 'do this season.

Don't let their intricate details intimidate you; in a few steps you can make pretty plaits like actress Drew Barrymore. Celebrity hairstylist Jessica Tingley of the Serge Normant at John Frieda Salon in Los Angeles takes us through step-by-step in recreating five different braid styles - from soft and simple to funky and intricate.

    - Dana Oliver

Soul Brother, FilmMagic | Ray Tamarra, Getty Images

    THE MESSY BRAID-BUN
To get a look like Nicole Richie's, create four face-framing braids, securing them as close to the ends as possible with an elastic. Twist the remaining hair into a messy bun. Then comes the fun part: undo the elastics on the braids and incorporate them into the bun, securing with bobby pins. The result? Super soft and romantic!

    WireImage.com

    THE WRAP-A-BRAID
This red carpet hair style staple works best on shoulder length or longer hair, like Salma Hayek's. Use a fine tooth comb (it makes a huge difference!) to make a neat middle part and work the two halves of your hair into two tight, very clean, low braids. Pull the braids up and around the top of your head, securing them with bobby pins and hiding the ends underneath the braid from the opposite side.

    Getty Images | WireImage.com

    THE EDITORIAL BRAID
Seemingly-impossible plaits usually reserved for magazine spreads

    Look 1: Fishtail Braids
Fishtail braids are a variation of French braids: Instead of incorporating each new hair section into the braid, let it go after twisting it over the braid, and grab a new section in its place. They take a little practice but once you've got it, it's a piece of cake. The version on the left was shaken out for a messy effect.

    Look 2: Braid-Elastics
Smooth hair into a high, side ponytail, and separate out a bottom section of the hair to make a small braid. Wrap the ponytail around itself to create a bun. Finally, wind the braid around the base of the bun to hide the elastic, securing the end with a bobby pin.

    Imaxtree.com | Getty Images

    THE HEADBAND BRAID

    Look 1: Multibraid Band
For Blake Lively's pretty look, make three to four small braids along an uneven part, securing the ends with small elastics and hiding them under your hair with a bobby pin.

    Look 2: French Braid Band
To get Lauren Conrad's look, (hint: it's a great tactic for growing-out bangs!) side part your hair and create a small french braid in front, framing the face for a headband effect. Secure the end of the braid with a small elastic.

    WireImage.com

    THE SIDE SWEPT BRAID
The secret here is to keep things loose as you brush your hair to one side and create a low braid, pulling pieces out of the plaits for a nonchalant, messy effect. For a more for romantic look, twist the bottom of your hair (along the hairline) into a roll and secure with bobby pins as needed.

    IMAXTREE.com

Now that you've mastered braids, styling your hair into this runway look should be no problem (kidding!). With braids, practice makes perfect. If your style isn't wearable on the first go (and odds are it won't be), try it again until you've got it down.

Top 3 Celeb Hairstyles for Summer - Tip of the Day!

Filed under: Hair Care, Style Tip of the Day, Hair Cut and Style

kim kardashianWe were lucky enough to score an interview with some lovely ladies, Nikki and Riawna, from the Ken Paves Salon in Hollywood. Between the two of them, they have tons of experience, an amazing knowledge bank on the topic, and a crazy client list to boot (think Lindsay Lohan, Colin Farrell, and Eva Longoria). So I rolled what we got from these two into a week's worth of tips so you can look like you just walked out of the Ken Paves Salon.

As a fashion site, we're always looking to the runway for inspiration but we know that actually doing one of the over-the-top looks just never works. Working at a Hollywood hot spot like Ken Paves Salon, Nikki and Riawna say it's no different. While they look to the runway to keep up with trends for their A list clients, Nikki states the obvious, saying that the "runway doesn't cater to daily life." But the insight they did find on the SS09 catwalks is good news for us lazy hair people and blow dryer optional.
