Unique-Vintage.com steals designs from lines they carry

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Vintage and Retro, Dresses

Big companies stealing ideas from independent designers is not an unheard of phenomenon, unfortunately. But what is even worse is when the little guys start stealing from other little guys. We've seen it before on sites like Etsy and eBay, where unscrupulous "artists" sometimes blatantly steal the designs of other true artists, recreate them and sell them as their own, original work. Well, it's happened again, and this time it's personal.

Flatter Your Figure: Best Tank Tops by Body Type

Filed under: Clothing, Flatter Your Figure

When the temperatures rise, we want our wardrobe to be hot, too. However, some of the summer styles shown on models and mannequins aren't exactly the most flattering for all body types.

This can make shopping for a sweet summer tank top difficult -- how can you figure out which style will best flatter you? We've got a few suggestions for the best tank tops for your body type. Check out the gallery to find out what you should be wearing!

Dress of the Day: Gabby Bubble Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

houseofspy bubble dressWe tucked away the color purple, along with My Little Pony and mermaids, when we graduated from elementary school.

However, with purple a prominent color on designers' palettes this season (is that too much alliteration for a Sunday morning?), we've been paying closer attention to it and its many shades. We love the Gabby Bubble Dress, which is simply identified as "purple," but is really a lighter lilac in our eyes. The dress with the subtly bubble silhouette comes from House of Spy, the line from former biology student Wendy Wong. The fabric is 70% silk, 30% cotton, and 100% made for late Spring. The halter strap is detachable.

Available from Revolve Clothing for $187.

Dress of the Day: Tommy Bahama Blue Coral Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

tommy bahama blue coral dressNever in a million years did we think we would ever wear something from Tommy Bahama, a brand that we have historically associated with 55 year old wealthy retired men in Orange County whose favorite past time is deep sea fishing (don't ask us how we built that image in our heads - we just did).

However, the Blue Coral dress, though not completely changing our idea, at least gives us a reason to perhaps try Tommy Bahama. The navy blue halter dress has ivory embroidered embellishments at the high waistline (more like the bottom of the bustline), and the hem falls 31" from the natural neckline. We love the femininity of the full skirt and the embroidery detai that are paired with a little bit of a plunging neckline. We like this dress paired with comfortably cute flats for a Sunday afternoon brunching and shopping with Mom and Dad.

The dress is available from Nordstrom for $198.

Dress of the Day: T-Bags Printed Bubble Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

t-bags printed bubble halter dressIs it just me or did it suddenly become a sauna out there?

It is hotter than it's ever been this summer, which makes it even harder to think about fashion for Fall. However, with T-Bags' Printed Bubble Dress in a print based on fall-ish colors, you can glide through the limbo months.

The dress is 100% rayon jersey, with straps that tie behind the neck. Ruching at the bust and a loose fit keep it comfortable for the heat. There is a 6" wide band at the bottom hem, which falls 33". For the days when it's 95 degrees outside, you can wear the dress as is, and as soon as it cools down a bit, add a pair of leggings or footless tights like the model in the picture.

The dress is $104 at Shopbop.

Dress of the Day: Black Halo Halter

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

black halo black cotton halter dressDifferent women look better or worse in different dress styles, and for me, the halter dress is one that seems to work well. Black Halo's black cotton halter dress with ultra low back is currently on my radar. The fact that something wraps around my neck not only accentuates one of my better features, my shoulders, but it also creates the illusion of a waistline, which I don't have at all. The Black Halo dress makes the waistline even more exaggerated with a wide "belt."

I know that a lot of women like wearing halter style tops and dresses because it draws attention to a good chest, but I am very sorely lacking in the pectoral region. Thankfully, this dress has little bit of a ruffle detail around the neckline to hide that!

The black halter dress from Black Halo is available from Bleu Clothing for $328.

Dress of the Day: Donna Ricco Silk Jersey Halter Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

donna ricco silk jersey halter dressEverything about this dress from Donna Ricco is so incredibly perfect.

I love the way jersey fabrics drape on the body, and the fact that it's a slightly dropped waist with elastic to create a light blouse makes it comfortable (no sucking in!). I love that the jersey is made from luxurious silk. I love halter dresses because they show off a woman's shoulders, but without exposing too much, the way a strapless dress does. You can't see it from the photo, but the high neck ties in the back and there's a keyhole in the back of the bodice.

I love that this dress is yet another LBD.

Donna Ricco's silk jersey halter dress is available at Nordstrom for $138. That still leaves you with eough change to grab a pair of shoes.

Ten hottest bikinis

Filed under: Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie

It's Fall, the time of year when leaves turn various shades of orange and red, and the crisp air prepares itself for the oncoming Winter. What better time to talk about bikinis? All right, so it's not really swimming weather, but the prices of bikinis are getting slashed like mad! Take advantage of the out-of-season merchandise and buy your dream bikini, complete with the comfort of knowing that you have almost ten months to hit the gym and chisel your body. Here's a list of some of the hottest bikinis to help you on your way...

1. The Classic String Bikini: This baby is like swimwear's version of the little black dress... the very, very, very little black dress. It brings immediate Sports Illustrated sexiness (when not obscenely itty-bitty), but it does have a few downfalls... A) It doesn't offer much support and B) America's Funniest Home Videos has far too many accounts of these things flying away from water slides. If you don't have a rebellious bust and/or plans to take a 200 ft plunge into a pool of tourists, a string bikini will probably be the easiest choice. Victoria's Secret has a lovely and simple triangle string bikini for $24.
