Henri Bendel to Strip Down

Henri Bendel, our favorite brown-and-white striped, high-end department store, is about to drop trou! The famous Fifth Avenue destination (which appeared in "Confessions of a Shopaholic" under a pseudonym and has a recurring role on "Gossip Girl") will cease selling clothing to focus on accessories and beauty products, exclusively.

It's not a total shocker since they are best known for their carefully selected, on-trend trimmings. I mean, it's common knowledge among the fashion set that if you need a hair accessory, you got to Henri Bendel. Period.

But don't fear that the 1895-founded shop is just another victim of the recession; they're actually rolling out six accessories-only stores this summer, featuring Bendel brand gifts (like an $18 box of tea) and HB beauty products.

So the good news, they could be coming to a mall near you!

Gossip Girl takes over Henri Bendel

Ah, Gossip Girl. We miss it. Luckily, the CW hit makes it return with a bunch of new episodes on September 1st.

Just in case you want your little GG fix now, head on over to Henri Bendel's next Sunday, when the luxe store will debut its new window displays, which were created by the costume designer of the teen drama, Eric Daman. The preppy looks that will be placed on the mannequins were inspired by Blair, Serena, and Jenny.

Meanwhile, check out America Ferrera's reaction upon hearing some of the new hook-ups on the Gossip Girl lot. Priceless.

Henri Bendel courts a younger market

Henri Bendel's private-label sweater collection has been a fashionable staple for New York women over the past 25 years. Classic twin sets, crewnecks and sleeveless shells in cashmere and wool, Henri Bendel's label offered dependable, well-constructed sweaters for mature women.

This season, Bendel has launched a new line called "Henri," which contains 19 styles of sweaters marketed towards a younger generation of Henri Bendel shoppers. Branching out from the basic crewneck, Henri sweaters come in bright, bold colors and modern, trendy shapes like henleys, tunic tops and cashmere hoodies.
