Sweater vests for men - are you feelin' it?

Filed under: Clothing, Vintage and Retro, Men

With cooler weather coming just around the corner, we've noticed that all of the conditions are right for a sweaterific fall and winter for men's fashion. Cardigans, turtlenecks, and yes, even the nerdiest of all -- sweater vests -- seem to be turning up in all sorts of fall collections. While the sweater vest is an easy way to add some colorful layers to your wardrobe, we kinda have to wonder if men are really going to embrace the sweater vest this season -- or if that's just wishful thinking.

From what we've gathered, this year's sweater vest look is all about the pattern -- and the nerdier the better. Forget solids or pinstripes, its all about checks, argyles, or a bold houndstooth. Basically, anything reminiscent of an ugly retro sweater that your parents dressed you in as a toddler. We like the depth that a SV can bring to an outfit, but we don't expect to see many on the street. What do you think? Is the sweater vest going to be a hot item this fall?

Dress of the Day: Isaac Mizrahi Houndstooth Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

isaac mizrahi houndstooth print dressI'm picking dresses from Target as much as I can because let's face it -- it's December, which means your paychecks are already promised to gift-shopping and that big blowout of an outift for your Holiday parties (yes, you only need one Holiday dress since you won't see any of the same people at the four different parties you're going to, thank God!).

Isaac Mizrahi's Houndstooth Dress from Target is only...$29.99! Can you believe that? An adorable little houndstooth-printed dress with a "vintage sensibility" for under $30! The dress is made of 97% cotton/3% spandex and is lined with 65% polyester/35% cotton. I realise, of course, that it is December and this dress is a sleeveless shift, but that means you can layer a little black cardigan, jacket, or trench coat on top. Hitting right at the knee, you can wear this dress to work with a pair of smart flats, or go with a sassy pump.
