Guys - If you only have one suit, here's what you need to know

Filed under: Men, Videos, Celebrities with Style

Some guys wear a suit every day for work. Most likely, these fellas know what to look for in a good suit -- they're surrounded by them, and they've probably suit shopped more than once. But a lot of men wear suits only for certain occasions -- weddings, funerals, and maybe interviews -- and these are the guys we're talking to today.

If you're only going to have one suit hanging in your closet, make it the right suit. Whether you choose one that's hot or hideous, you're going to be spending a chunk of change on it, so you might as well look your best. And, take a cue from GQ -- dress like Cary Grant.

Allure's best makeup tips

There are so many bits of makeup advice flying around out there that it can be hard to absorb it all. Not all of it applies to all skin types, and what works for one person's look might not work for yours. But still, we collect these little nuggets of wisdom like the tooth fairy collects teeth because when the right tip comes along, it can rock our world.

Flatter Your Figure: 5 ways to make the most of a curvy figure

Filed under: Clothing, Flatter Your Figure

If you have a curvy figure, it's entirely likely that there are some days you wake up wishing you had a skinny, straight body. We can guarantee you that there's another girl somewhere with the opposite body type wishing she had some more curves -- the grass is always greener in somebody else's closet. However, we think it's really important to appreciate what you have, and that means learning to make the most of it.

Sometimes making the most of it will mean pulling attention away from a certain body part, and sometimes it means bringing the eye to a particular body part. These tips will help you figure out how to do both, with style.

Make-up how-to's for women of all colors

We always love reading about a new "how-to" when it comes to make-up -- one never knows when she's going to learn a swell new trick. However, many make-up tutorials on the web are geared toward women with fairly light skin and large eyes, not toward Asian or African American. That's not to say they're not out there -- they're just a bit less prevalent.

Ask StyleList: I'm really tall and curvy -- what should I wear?

After a recent post on how to flatter various figures, I received comments from two girls with the same issues -- they're quite tall (about six feet tall), and curvy, but not overweight.

At about 5'8" with broad shoulders, I run into issues with fit, often having to find long lengths in pants or letting hems out when long lengths aren't offered, and sometimes having to go up a size in jackets to accommodate my shoulders. These girls have it worse because they'll run into problems like that nearly every time they go shopping.

For girls in this predicament, I offer the following advice:

How to work a cape like Posh, not Superman (or Brooke Shields)

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style

Every year, as spring approaches, my eyes start wandering toward the less bulky items in my closet. I'm tired of my sweaters, done with scarves, and so over jackets. Fortunately, I live in Florida, so there are plenty of days where I can wear a kicky dress and cardi and be plenty warm. But what about those of you living in colder climates? What can be done?

Never fear, Posh is here! In a cape!

As Mrs. Beckham shows us (and as Brooke Shields and Lucy Liu fail to show us), a cape can be a fabulously chic way to ward off the winter chill when you just can't bare to wear your winter coat for another day. However, it can also backfire horribly. Here's how you can pull off Posh's look and keep your cape from becoming fashion kryptonite:

Would you wear a glue bracelet?

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News

Today's featured how-to on my Google homepage sounded like something that Styledash readers might be into -- glue bracelets.

If the name alone isn't enough to make you turn up your nose, then the jewelry making process probably will. The first step is to cover your palm with a thin layer of non-toxic glue like Elmer's. Wait for the glue to dry, then completely cover the glue with washable magic marker. Then very carefully use your other hand to roll away the glue from the center of your palm to the edge of the circle.

And voila! You have your very own glue bracelet.

Glue bracelets certainly aren't meant to be a chic fashion statement for discriminating fashionistas, but for your average office worker with access to the supply closet and nothing better to do, making glue bracelets sounds like a great way to kill time at work.
