IMG Models Wants to Quiz you

Filed under: Style in the News

daria werbowy for roberto cavalli spring '09Listen up, self-proclaimed model watchers:

While top models don't pull in the same major paychecks like the Supers of 1990s and, to that end, don't have the same star power anywhere near that of celebrities, quite a few of them have very devoted fans and have acquired cult-like followings online. To satiate some of those folks, IMG Models -- whose girls tend garner the most attention -- have come up with a little quiz to figure out how well you guys really know their star girls.

Model.Live Episode 2: Cato says good-bye

Filed under: Style in the News

Last month, Vogue announced it would be teaming up with IMG models to present an online TV series that followed three new models -- Cato Van Ee, Madeline Kragh, and Austria Alcantara -- as they made their way to New York for fashion week, documenting all of the trials and tribulations that come with trying to make yourself stand out in a very competitive industry.

The series debuted on August 19 and all of the episodes thus far have showed the models saying good-bye to their loved ones in order to beging that long and arduous journey known as Fashion Week. Cato, the Holland beauty who walked Miu Miu and Prada exclusively last season, has parents that are, rightfully so, worried about what the modeling industry has in store for their daughter.

Her mother, in fact, would prefer if she didn't become famous because "she doesn't know too many people who are famous that are happy." In this clip, watch as her buddies throw her a farewell party and her parents lament on the risks of becoming a model.

Vogue and IMG make model TV

And now model-oriented reality television programming just got a little more serious.

Today, Wall Street Journal reports Vogue magazine and IMG are teaming up to launch a web-based reality series about the world of fashion and of course, modeling. Called Model.Live, the series will follow Madeline Kragh, Cato Van Ee, and Austria Alcantara, three up-and-coming IMG babes poised to skyrocket towards the front of their class.

The series cost a whopping $3 million to make or approximately $31,000 minute. It debuts on Vogue.TV August 19th and will consist of twelve eight minute episodes. So yeah, Tyra's America's Next Top Model and Bravo's Make Me A Supermodel have some major competition this fall. In this preview, watch as the girls prep for their promo photo shoot.

Did you watch the Make Me A Supermodel finale?

Make Me A Supermodel
is Bravo TV's new model reality show that allows America to call in and vote to save their favorite contestants from eliminations (kind of like American Idol). Hosted by Tyson Beckford and Nikki Taylor, MMAS is the super vanilla version of America's Next Top Model -- no intense cat fights, no bizarre photo shoots, no Benny Ninja...no spilled Red Bulls.
