Origami Inspiration from the Oscars

Filed under: Red Carpet Trends, Get the Look

Fashion has long been influenced by Asian tradition and every few years we see a resurgence of geisha-esque looks which usually start on an haute couture level and take a few years to trickle down. For instance, does anyone remember John Galliano's spring 2007 collection for Christian Dior? Well, in case you don't recall, it was chock full of crazy kimonos, bright colors, and fierce origami folds which finally, in 2009, has caught on with celebs. So how can you wear the origami look that has been so prevalent on runways and red carpets the last two years?

Are you Influenced by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen?

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style, Product Reviews, Books, Daily Obsession, Must Haves

After months of anticipation, we finally received our very own copy of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen's not-just-for-your-coffee-table book. And, as expected, we love it. Influence is a hardcover masterpiece – featuring interviews with the world's most famous designers, artists, photographers, and taste-makers including: designer Diane von Furstenberg, shoe maven Christian Louboutin, and cheeky photographer Terry Richardson.

As Ashley explained: "We want this book to be something that is filled with interesting things about the art world and fashion. I'd like to think that this book is inspiring people to read about or focus on other things than just the over-saturated, scandal-driving media."

Jennifer Hudson is flashing her undies. Is SJP to blame?

Filed under: Clothing, Swimwear and Lingerie, Dresses, Celebrities with Style

We love the fact that Jennifer Hudson is voluptuous and totally confident in showing off her curves. And we know she worked right along side Sarah Jessica Parker in the Sex and the City movie, so is SJP to blame for Jennifer flashing her bright pink bra at the MTV Movie Awards? SJP's hubby, Matthew Broderick probably thinks so.

In fact, he blames his fashion icon wife (and her most famous character, Carrie Bradshaw) for the trend of women showing off their sexy lingerie in public. But, back to the matter at hand -- Jennifer Hudson's bra. How do you feel about this look?

Olsen twin coffee table book coming soon

The Olsen twins are coming out with a coffee table book! I'm so excited. I don't know why I'm so fascinated by these little midgets but something about them keeps me wanting more. Even when they dress like crazy homeless people who haven't bathed in weeks, or insane vampire looking witches who want to suck my blood, I still can't wait to see what they're going to wear next!

Mary Kate and Ashley have teamed up to create a book full of interviews and photos of people who inspire them. Ashley says the book will feature, "the most interesting, challenging, creative people we know - the ones who helped pave the way for us and our generation."

Mary Kate adds, "Ashley and I interviewed the people who have inspired us, with the hope that they will inspire and teach others."

Just to name drop, a few people that grace the pages of the book, aptly named Influence, are shoester Christian Louboutin, actress Lauren Hutton, photographer Terry Richardson and writer Bob Colacello.

Whether you love or hate the Olsen twins, there's no denying that these two are formidable players when it comes to style. Just thinking of all the people they probably had access to talk to for this book gets me giddy. These girls rub elbows with some of the most influential people in fashion -- here's to hoping they all agreed to be in the book!

Exclusive photos and interviews with the twins will also be part of the book.

I just checked and you can pre-order Influence on Amazon for $35.00. It will be released on November 13 of this year.
