T-Shirts for Nerds and the people that IM them

Ah, nerds. We They've come a long way since Revenge of the Nerds- the first one (not parts 2-14 where each consecutive sequel brought greater gains in the fight for nerd rights, but also a never-ending supply of stereotypes and frontal nudity). One need look no further than TV's own "Big Bang Theory" to see how nerds have been acclimated into society. Sociology, people.

NerdyShirts is an online shirt designer and retailer that was made by nerds for nerds, but that won't stop them selling stuff to the rest of you. After all, they are capitalists.

The Limited now knows no limits

Filed under: Stores We Love, Clothing

We've been shopping at The Limited for years. They tend to have something for everyone -- from casual to dressy, modest to va-va-voom. However, the only way to purchase their clothes was to go to the store. Seriously -- The Limited didn't have ecommerce available ... until now.

You can now go online and shop to your heart's content. Look for versatile pieces, like this ridiculously cute Ruffle Shirt Dress (wear it now with peep toes, in the winter with boots and a cardigan, and again in the spring with strappy heels). It's just $69.50, so not only will you get plenty of opportunities to wear it, but you'll have money left over to accessorize (and we've got the accessories you need from The Limited in the gallery!)!

Shop Alexander McQueen in your pajamas

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing

What could be better than shopping for designer duds in your pajamas (imported silk lounging pajamas, of course)? Alexander McQueen is making that possible -- not with a flagship store slumber party, but with a new online store.

Mulewear: Shirts for the internet savvy and you

Filed under: Style in the News, Clothing, Men

Whit Honea is a slacker, a borderline degenerate, and a daydream believer. He's also our resident expert on casual chic. If it's comfortable, and not heinous, he's all over it. He's quite charming, really.

Hello, and welcome to Web 2.0, the t-shirt collection. We're not really sure what to say about these geek chic shirts, other than we like them, because the company that produces them isn't a t-shirt company; they're a design team that has a store. Or perhaps they're a store that has a design team. It's all so confusing.

Twitter is the next big thing

Facebook was the new Myspace, and now Twitter is the new Facebook. Are you following me? Probably not, but that's OK. Let me just put it this way. Twitter is going to be the next big thing.

It's a keep up, or get out of the way kind of world, and Twitter is what you should be keeping up with now. It's like Facebook, but in real time. You can update your status and set Twitter to send out phone text messages to tell all your friends what you're doing.

I been noticing that more and more people on blogs are using Twitter to communicate with their readers. I've seen Twitter everywhere lately! Since Styledash is always ahead of the game, we even used it during Fashion Week last year.

The phenomenon has been especially popular with people traveling, who might not have time to sit down and write an email to all their friends and family who want to know how he or she is doing. With Twitter, the traveler is able to send out his whereabouts by telling everybody at once, "I'm in Bali, getting a $5.00 massage. Life is good!" When you change your status, those who follow you on the website will receive text messages, if they are set up to do so, with your updates.

Twitter hasn't quite broken into the mainstream yet, but I have a feeling it will soon. The website is continuing to explode in popularity. Time Magazine said, "Twitter is on its way to becoming the next killer app," and I believe them. It's trendy to be on Twitter right now!

Do you Twitter?

Internet memes continue to make fun shirts

shirtI'm sure you all have seen the recent image macro trend LOLcats, or have heard at least the Internet phrase "im in ur base killing ur d00dz". Yes, no, maybe? Well, if you're into this whole Internet thing, want to express your inner geekiness in t-shirt form, or just want to get hit on by interwebz-lovers, this is the shirt for you. Each "im in ur blank blanking ur blank" shirt comes with a washable marker that you can use to fill in your own words again and again. ThinkGeek gives a few sweet suggestions on what to write: Visiting in-laws? We recommend, "im in ur offspring sproutin' ur family tree." Stuck at the office? May we suggest, "im in ur meeting eatin' ur donuts."

Or, if Styledash folks want one: "im in ur feed bloggin' ur fashionz."

Manolo takes to the web

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News, Shoes

For years I've enjoyed the shoe-centered bloggy stylings of Manolo the Shoeblogger. Now his inspiration, the one-and-only Manolo Blahnik has launched his own website and promises to update it with his thoughts and information on the latest designs. The site also includes a bio of the designer, a news section and a listing of boutiques. If Manolo blogs with half as much wit and flair the web will be a very shoe-happy place indeed.

Trials of online shopping: shoe size

Filed under: Stores We Love, Accessories, Shoes

This month, I purchased two pairs of shoes online. One was a pair of chic gold slip-on Hush Puppies; the other was a pair of Diadora road cycling shoes. In both instances, I ordered what I thought was my correct size -- 9 -- only to find out when they arrived that one pair was way too big and the other was way too small.

To some, my story explains the reason one never buy shoes over the Internet. If you can't try them on, why waste your time and money?

But whoever said that buying habits had anything to do with what was sensible? With free shipping, sale prices and a huge selection of shoes that I could never find in my 'ville, Internet shopping, for all of its vices, still seems worth it to me. That's not to say that there won't come a point that I decide that I can't put myself through the turmoil of buying, waiting, mailing back and waiting for another pair. It could happen, just not quite yet.

So I'm wondering: has anyone else out there grown tired of the uncertainties of Internet shopping that they've reverted back to old fashioned retail?
