Jean Paul Gaultier designs Evian bottle

Filed under: Style in the News

When once dedicated fashion fiends can no longer afford "it" bags and shoes do they give up on their quest of conspicuous shopping? Uh, no silly! They just consume less expensive little do-dads like designer water bottles.

Jean-Paul Gaultier Fall-Winter 2009 Haute Couture

Filed under: Style in the News

Madness! Total madness! We adore Jean-Paul Gaultier's sense of creativity. His 2009 haute couture show was like a fashion circus! It's always fun to see clothes that no human being in his/her right mind would ever wear. But, hey, isn't that what it's all about?

Agyness Deyn cuts it all off for Jean Paul Gaultier

You can't keep a good woman down for long.

Just after Burberry gave her the boot, Agyness Deyn has gracefully landed in Jean Paul Gaultier's commercial for his recently launched perfume, Ma Dame.

In the commercial, the Manchester native dons a long platinum blonde wig, which she hacks all off towards the end to expose her cooler-than-thou peroxide pixie cut. But not before she begins ripping off her sleeves, shirts, and pant legs. The thirty-four second fragrance spot was shot in black and white and has a 80s retro feel to it -- probably paying homage to Gaultier's days of courting Madonna with cone bras.

Watch and enjoy.

Jean Paul Gaultier's brings the man makeup

Filed under: Men, Cosmetics, Skin Care

Is men's fashion really headed towards concealer and guyliner? Jean Paul Gaultier thinks so. This Thursday, JPG is set to launch its own venture into the world of man makeup called Monsieur. Unbeknownst to us, there must be a fairly decent-sized untapped market out there for this stuff. Initially, the lineup will consist of a toner, bronzer, concealer, eyeliner and shaving products -- as far as lipstick and mascara goes, it looks like they'll wait to see if phase 1 takes off.

Tommy Hilfiger launches online TV channel

Filed under: Style in the News

Fashion and music have gone hand and hand since as far back as we can remember.

Dame Vivienne Westwood helped usher in the punk style that is still very popular in the UK by dressing the Sex Pistols and Adam Ant; Jean Paul Gaultier outfitted Madonna in those now infamous cone-shaped bras for her world tours, and as of late, Gucci's Frida Giannini has been taped to design 20 different looks for Lenny Kravitz's upcoming 'Love Revolution' European tour.

Gaultier puts plus-size model on the catwalk

gaultier modelGiven all the comments on my Rachel Zoe post, I am curious to know what all of you think about this latest twist in the thin-versus-fat debate. Fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier put a large-sized model on his runway as part of his 30th anniversary show in Paris during fashion week. The large model, whose name is Velvet D'Amour, was dressed in a black corset outfit and was part of a show that included the traditional skinny models who were dressed in Gaultier's new workout-inspired line. Like some of the commenters on the Daily Mail article, I'd like to see more of a happy medium between the size 0 and the size 20 on the catwalk. How about a nice size 10?

What does Jean-Paul Gaultier eat?

Filed under: Fashionable Food, Events: On the Scene, Stores We Love, Celebrities with Style

jean paul gaultierYou might think fashion models don't eat much, if at all, but fashion designers? Now that's a different story.

French designer Jean-Paul Gaultier, who rarely makes appearances in the US, landed in Manhattan for the opening of his Bergdorf Goodman boutique and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of his line. New York Magazine got a few words with the designer, and when asked what he wanted to do during his 72 hours, Gaultier said " I want to eat a hamburger first. A real big, good hamburger."

A Hamburger Today reports in a postscript that yes, indeed, the designer dined on a burger at the Soho Grand, but did the Frenchman do fries, as well? We don't know.
