Sean Connery is the new old face of Louis Vuitton

When Louis Vuitton first launched their Keith Richards "Core Values" ads, we thought that they might be trying to make a connection between leathery skin and their fine leather luggage. Now, we get it. With age comes retirement, retirees travel -- hence they might want to blow their pension on a piece of LV luggage. That, plus the fact that the latest installment of James Bond films is hitting theaters this fall, must explain why Louis Vuitton picked Sean Connery to be their latest spokesperson.

Just in time to coincide with the premiere of Quantum of Solace, Louis Vuitton will be banking on the original James Bond's old time good looks. Connery was recently voted one of the "50 Sexiest Men Over 50" by the ladies at WowOwoW.com. Hmm, we think he kinda looks like a hairy leprechaun, but he should dress up nice in the LV campaign. Because, according to WWD, Annie Leibovitz was behind the lens, and we all know that she can work some photo magic.

4 Stroke Jeans and rock'n'roll royalty

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style, Green Fashion

The creators of 4 Stroke Jeans know how to make their denim look appealing--by putting it on Keith Richards' model-slash-socialite daughter, Theodora.

The company, which launched nearly two years ago, names each of its denim styles after a famous concert venue. And in keeping with one of the music industry's favorite pet causes, 4 Stroke is also eco-friendly, using organic fabrics and laundries that recycle their water.

Our favorite look from 4 Stroke's latest collection is the Saville jean, a wide-legged, dark-denim pair that we're sure Theodora's mother, former model Patti Hansen, would have swooned over in the 1970s.

Manuel Bozzi debuts 'University of Rock 'n' Roll' collection

If rock is dead, Manuel Bozzi didn't get the memo -- or maybe Italian designer just doesn't care. Really, aside from the reference to a pretty mediocre Jack Black movie, we think his University of Rock 'n' Roll collection does a pretty good job capturing the mysticism of classic rock in accessories you might actually wear. Some of the designs are more subtle than others, but most of them don't look like they came from Hot Topic.

His inspiration for this season's collection is an imaginary university where one can go to learn the ways of Rock. Most of his inspiration is drawn from the classic styles of the 60's and 70's -- and of course icons like LV model Keith Richards. All of his pieces are meant to get cooler with age, i.e. silver styles that tarnish, leather that looks better as it wears. We really like the alligator belt buckle.

There's one thing that troubles us about this University of Rock 'n' Roll concept: if there was such a university, wouldn't the students drop out, because that's the most rock 'n' roll thing to do?

Amy Winehouse following the heroin chic footsteps of Kate Moss

Reports have surfaced that Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty are working together in the studio. Assuming, of course, that "working together" is code for "meeting our dealer" we can expect to hear that new single a week from never.

We blame Kate Moss for this latest union of crazy druggies. She is responsible on multiple levels.

Keith Richards donates leather face to Louis Vuitton

Filed under: Style in the News, Celebrities with Style

In another weird advertising move from Louis Vuitton, they've decided to feature the wrinkled mug of none other than rock-god Keith Richards in the next wave of their "Core Values" campaign. Although I'm not sure his style is really suited for a LV, I do think the decision was a million times better than their goofy TV commercial. Not to mention, they put Annie Leibovitz behind the camera -- instant classic.

I have to agree with LV's head of communications, who said "I think when people are flipping through a magazine, this will stop them," -- yeah, that's why I clicked on it. My first thought was: WTF? Keith Richards in a hotel room playing his axe next to a piece of LV luggage? Or, I guess it's a custom guitar case.

It's cool to see that LV has enough of a sense of humor about their luxury brand to juxtapose it with a sloppy, burned-out rocker. Promoting super-expensive luggage as ironic fashion accessories is a hilarious idea. Unfortunately, I'm not into $3,000 jokes -- unless they're really funny. The photo in itself is a work of art, at least their money produced something worthwhile, whether or not it will actually sell any luggage.
