Chanel's 60W heels inspired by LA Lights - not so cheap thrills

When we first laid eyes on these sandals, we though for a moment that the heel contained a bottle of Chanel No. 5, tucked away for emergency use only. As it turns out, it's something much cooler than that -- a working light bulb. For $2,200 these Chanel Lightbulb heels will attract attention to your shapely legs by flashing each time you take a step. Hmm, where have we seen that gimmick before?

Come on, wear the noise

Be the music. The louder the better (unless you're old). Firebox is featuring a sweet t-shirt with a new twist, the T-Equalizer ($29.95), and it could change your life. Forever.

Well, maybe it won't change your life, but it will make you have one (temporary and sort of social) as you sport a working LED equalizer on your chest and show the kids at the club just what they're dancing to. Check out these videos to see it in action.

I suppose you're wondering how it works. MAGIC! Or, if you prefer the scientific version, there is a small battery pack hidden along the inside of the hem that provides power to the noise-sensitive LEDs. I know, magic sounds cooler, but hey, you asked.

Please be aware that there is a bit more responsibility involved in owning this t-shirt than most others, for instance, you need to unplug the battery before washing and you cannot iron the equalizer (not that you should ever iron a t-shirt). I like to call these sort of instructions "common sense" which generally means that most people will fail to follow them.

So, in closing, do what Quiet Riot would do, come on, wear the noise! Also available, girls rock your boys!

Interactive twinkling light coffee table

LED lights glow when you move over themAt first, the idea of a table embedded with hundreds of glowing lights sounds tacky -- like bright, blinking Christmas decorations, a lamp shaped like a body part, or any other gimmicky piece of modern furniture.

But if the photos are any indication, this LED table seems surprisingly tasteful.

And the best part is that it's interactive. When there's nothing on the table, the lights dimly twinkle, but they become brighter when they sense motion. So, when you move your arm over the table, the lights underneath that arm become brighter (like in the photo).

This might seem a little out of place if you're design aesthetic is based on the "rustic" look, but if you're a fan of the modern home, the table could be an incredibly cute touch.

The only drawback is the price. At $2,800, those twinkling lights would have to be really worth it.

Blinx, flashy style for your ears

If the LED bra was a bit too much for you there is a more decorous way to get lit up for the holidays. Blinx by Andrea are stereo ear bud headphones for your iPod that have miniature high intensity LED lights that flash in unison to the music. The LEDs are in the stem of each ear bud and on the front of a small chest medallion circuitry/battery housing. The set comes in six colors, red, white, blue, green, orange and yes, pink and sells for $29.95.

Cubist clock that's so not Picasso

Present season is just around the corner, and if you're still searching for an unusual gift for the design-lover in your life, feast your eyes on the Open Edition Untitled (numbers) LED clock at Moss Online. The hip digital clock was designed by Jonas Damon and produced by Areaware, USA. Each shiny numbered cube contains an LED display, which ticks off the time just like a regular digital clock. Illuminated by LEDs, this clock is long-lasting and energy-efficient, in addition to being clever and playful.

Would you wear a light-up bra?

Filed under: Holiday Style, Swimwear and Lingerie

A post on MocoLoco about a Lumigram, a European company that makes wearable glowing fiber optic clothes and accessories inspired me to search for illuminated clothes in the U.S.

Janet Cooke Hansen creates LED clothing for Enlighted Designs. She makes ties, bras and all sorts of custom outfits that glow. And she's no airhead designer -- the maker of light-up clothes actually has a Ph.D. in bioengineering. The outfits gets their power from batteries ranging from the small coin batteries to the C or D batteries depending on how many lights your outfit has and how long you need to be flashy. The bra shown here sells for $90 and is clearly meant to be shown off. Nightclub wear for the very daring.

Style in the year 2020: flashy lights?

philips design probe program skinMovies from 'Blade Runner' to 'Minority Report' have tried to predict the future of styles. And who knows, maybe mini-skirts will be back in fashion when the 23rd century rolls around... But Philips, the company currently showing off these amazing LED-based fabrics, predicts flashy, emoting fabrics will be all the rage in 2020. Witness their Design Probe program: SKIN. From what I can tell, it's a futuristic version of the mood ring, designed to be worn all over and respond to your emotional state. What's next? Maybe you'll be able to show what websites your thinking about on your t-shirts. Or maybe that is a very bad idea...
