Why aren't you wearing this? Paper Route Hat

When you wake up and don't feel like putting too much effort into your hair, what's your go-to? Do you pull it into a ponytail? Braid it down the back? Throw on a baseball cap, and call it a day? These options are all just fine, but we'd like to see you incorporate a hat like this Paper Route Hat ($38 at Anthropologie) into your routine.

This gives you a much more fashion-forward look than a baseball cap while providing the same benefits -- covering up undone hair. You can wear it down, straight or in waves, or pull it back into a low pony -- even a side pony, if you're so inclined.

Nail Polish Summer School: Recovering from a nail polish spill

Sooner or later, it's going to happen. You will drop a bottle of nail polish, it will shatter, and you will experience a quivering out of body anxiety attack as you watch the shiny color cover the (probably white) surface.

We say this: Don't Panic!

It's happened to us (see photo, sigh, that was our favorite color) and we're happy to share our research findings with you.

Terrapax eco-chic luggage

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Green Fashion

These days, with laptops, Blackberries, iPhones, etc., it seems like everybody's looking for the perfect piece of luggage to tote around their gadgets and junk. Now, you could throw down a few hundred bucks for a celebrity-endorsed luxury hand bag. Or, if you happen to have a soft spot for the environment, you could be a responsible human being and get a sustainable purse, murse, courier bag or hold-all from Terrapax.

Terrapax has a seriously green business model that includes the uses of all organic, renewable fabrics like hemp and linen, and they turn out some seriously durable luggage. The even buy back their old bags and recycle the hardware and hemp. The company was started by James Cox, who left North Face in '92 to design bags that don't contain petrochemical-based fibers like nylon and polyester.

Just in case you were wondering, those are genuine stag horn closures on this organic hemp shoulder bag. No animals were not harmed in the making of it though -- they shed their antlers each spring.

A new Raison d'être

Filed under: Stores We Love, Clothing, Celebrities with Style

Some women would say that cashmere is their reason for being; others would say diamonds. But for the designers at the Los Angeles boutique Raison D'être, it's all about linen.

And who could blame them?

If had a closet full of unique, interesting, totally unfrumpy linen outfits, I'd feel the same way. (Provided someone else was doing my ironing, of course!)

My personal favorite at this little delightful online boutique is the Raja dress. With cap-sleeves and a belted waistband, this delicate dress that comes in white and cocoa reminds me of Katharine Ross as Etta Place in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid -- feminine, but in a no nonsense way.
