Breaking News - Marc Jacobs vs. Dolce & Gabbana, Patricia Field Over 'Sex and the City'? and the Future of Footwear

Filed under: Style in the News

PATRICIA FIELD MAY QUIT CARRIE
She rose to fame by draping the women of "Sex and the City" in trend-setting high fashion. However, the flame-haired super stylist would rather move on than turn Carrie Bradshaw's style into recession chic. See which less-than-glam British singing sensation she'd rather style.

ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL
Kate Moss is hoisted in the air by uniformed service men for Longchamp, Dolce & Gabbana gets hairy with hot pink primate-style coats and Marc Jacobs' ads feature a model dangling from a high-rise window. Which Fall luxury publicity posters will grab the most attention?

PHYSICS OF THE HEELESS SHOE

Emma Hemming donned a pair of nearly impossible platform boots for her kinky W magazine shoot with her new hubbie Bruce Willis. Are these lifts just a piece of couture eye candy? Or are pumps with missing parts the wave of the future in fashionable footwear?

Who knew Kate Moss was aligned with the armed forces? Well, actually, Moss herself is a fashion force, armed with Longchamp's fall must-have bag. (The men in uniform are just props!)

Moss and leggy Canadian model Daria Werbowy (shown on continued page) star in the brand's Fall/Winter '09 ad campaign, shot by photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. The above is the brand's first ever billboard.

Afghan Hands - Embroidered Scarves with a Conscience and Claire Danes' Bridesmaids Gift?

Filed under: Style for a Cause

That's me (right) at the event with Claire Danes and her fiancé Hugh Dancy.

Last night I attended the Orlane-sponsored fundraiser at the enchanting Soho, NYC outpost of Longchamp to benefit Afghan Hands.

While the setting and the people were undeniably beautiful, it was the hand-embroidered shawls and scarves that stole the limelight.

The women who create these elegant works of art are widows living in Afghanistan whose husbands were killed by the Taliban.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sales go to these women, who are paid to learn how to embroider and offered seminars on basic human, legal and religious rights -- something they would otherwise not have access to. Talk about a worthy cause!

I want that! Grey Ant pants

Filed under: Daily Obsession, Get the Look

We first really noticed Diane Kruger in the movie Troy where she held her own alongside some of our favorite sexies -- Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom, and Eric Bana. *sigh* After stalking her a little bit we learned that she is a German born model who now dates actor Joshua Jackson (Pacey anyone?), which makes sense since her style is such a great blend of laid back Americana with flirty European chic.

This daring pairing, which she wore at the Longchamp 60th anniversary party, is no exception. She waves her good old US of A flag with nautical inspiration, a slouchy fit and hat and mixes it with a crisp yet daring pair of high waisted trousers and cut off top, courtesy of her heritage across the pond.

Ask StyleList: Stylin' at 60-plus

Filed under: Accessories, Clothing, Ask StyleList, Dresses

A StyleList reder recently emailed in with the following question:

Can you give me information on stylish lines of clothing for women and men for the 60+ crowd? I'm looking for lines that design with "mature" figures in mind, but still have a great sense of style.

Great question! Why should the young people have all the fun? Kudos to you for caring about your sense of fashion at 60 plus -- if only everyone your age could feel the same way. But I digress ...

There are some great lines out there that cater to an more mature crowd and they are nothing you would see standing in line for senior citizen discount at Denny's.

High End- There are a few high end designers you can look to either to purchase clothing from or just to grab some inspiration from. All brands can be found at Nordstrom.com as well.
