Tom Ford unveils $475 tanning goggles - Things we can't afford

What's the point of wearing a pair of $475 goggles in a tiny glass bed where nobody can admire them? We're not sure, but we think it has something to do with being extravagantly wealthy. If we ever decided to tan our sickly pale skin, we would probably have to go with the freebies -- but there's no doubt that these Tom Ford tanning goggles are the bee's knees when it comes to tanning bed eyewear. Then again, who really cares that much about goggles no one can see?

Failing economy = fewer cashmere sweaters

Filed under: Style in the News

Another sign that our economy is in real trouble? Cashmere is no longer in demand. Cashmere producers and designers are scaling back on the luxury knit as manufacturing prices rise and consumers shy away from spending on luxury products.

Cecelia's simple yet luxurious clutches

Filed under: Handbags, Celebrities with Style

The clutch is the bag to clutch these days, and if celebrities are any way to judge a trend, the vintagey-style Cecelia clutch is the one to want.

Cecelia was created in 2004 by Hillary Lammens, and the line includes clutches, belts and brooches, which can be worn on their own, or used to dress up the bags.

The bags are the big deal of the line. Lammens uses luxury materials like crocodile, stingray, snakeskin and our favorite white suede to create dressy, shimmery bags that work for an evening out, especially when you add a brooch to embellish. The simple designs can also work in the daytime, without making you look like you're doing the walk of shame from last night's party to today's lunch.

Like we said, celebrities love this line. In the gallery, some of Cecelia's fans, like Gossip Girl's Jessica Szohr, Debra Messing, and Kourtney Kardashian, show you how they wear these pretty clutches.

Dior is for babies - well isn't that cute?

Looking to make rearing a child in this crazy world a little more stylish and a lot more expensive? Legendary French fashion house Dior has a suggestion for you: spend $600 on an outfit for your little one. Baby Dior has launched its winter line of high-end baby couture, presumably unveiled at Dubai's Kids Fashion Week, and it's super cute. But if you buy it, we've got one question for you: have you gone mental?

We take that back, if you've got the money to dress your baby like they're headed to a photo shoot everyday, more power to you. That way, the rest of us can pick them up second-hand at the thrift store. This darling jumpsuit is priced at $295. To complete the outfit, try the Trapper Hat for $125 and the Faux-Fur Snow Shoes for another $125. Go ahead, blow the kid's college fund on baby clothes that they'll outgrow in a few months. We promise, they'll thank you later -- OK, maybe they won't.

vedaMAMA - Not just for the mommy crowd

A lot of the really, really good skincare companies put a lot of focus on products for new moms, kids, and babies, and for good reason -- this group needs high quality products. However, the rest of us like to be pampered, too, and vedaMAMA is taking good care of us. Really, really good care.

VedaMAMA is a part of vedaPURE, a collection of noncosmetic skincare products that uses "ancient ayuvedic principals of balance and health, herbal remedies for calming and soothing and the highest standards of excellence in modern care for ... chic sassy moms and hip 5th Avenue fashionistas." CVS to sell prestige beauty brands

Filed under: Cosmetics, Fragrance, Skin Care

Soon, being a "Drugstore Beauty Queen" might not have quite the same meaning.

By year's end, CVS will launch its new Beauty 360 concept, which means the drugstore will be carrying prestige beauty brands that were previously only available in department or specialty stores. These higher end items will be found in stores with an assisted-sell environment staffed with trained sales associates and licensed aestheticians. There's a possibility of having onsite manicures and massages available to draw in folks waiting to pick up a prescription.

Enjoy a (week) day spa treatment

There is something old school and luxurious about sitting by a pool, wrapped in a white terry cloth robe, sipping cucumber water and waiting to be called for your massage. However, those day spas can be pricey, and with everyone tightening their belts, this is the kind of luxury most of us give up first. You know, before food and gas.

But wait! Before you turn away from the dream of lavender scented lotion and gentle, soothing hands, consider scheduling your beauty treatment on a Tuesday afternoon or Thursday morning.

Who needs diamond earrings when you can have diamond earbuds?

Have you ever worried about your earbuds interfering with the fabulousness of your earrings? You know, all that boring white plastic doesn't really go with diamond studs, right?

In that case, why not invest in iDiamond earphones? Sure, they're $6400 a pop, but they're the real thing, so either they'll perfectly match your diamond earrings, or, you can avoid wearing any earrings at all.

The limited edition blinged-out 'buds are from designer Thomas Heyerdahl and are made from white gold and 204 diamonds. Not sure how great the sound quality would be, but at least you'll look fancy at the gym. Or do you not wear diamond earphones to the gym? We're not quite sure ...

Maximum security for your expensive handbag

Filed under: Handbags, Accessories, Daily Obsession

Once you've finally saved up enough cash to buy your super-fancy expensive handbag, that last thing you want to happen is for it to be stolen by some scrub.

Enter DataDotDna, a laser etching process that can create DNA for practically all of your luxury items through a process that "etches microscopic information onto barely visible discs."

After the micro discs are placed on your objects, they'll forever stay attached. So anyone trying to fool around with your stuff isn't going to get away easily and for long. This kind of technology has been championed by car companies for years. The fashion companies hope they can bring that same level of safety and authenticity to their products.
