Much like the candidates up for key positions in President-Elect Barack Obama's administration, everyone wants to know who is starring in Marc Jacobs' Spring '09 ad campaigns.

Why aren't you wearing this? Marc by Marc Jacobs Painted Intarsia Gloves

Winter's coming, and you need to make sure you have the right tools to cope with the drop in temperature. We tend to lean toward items that, for one thing, can be worn with multiple things, and for another, can be adjusted according to temperature. These Marc by Marc Jacobs Painted Intarsia Gloves, $88 at Shopbop, do just that.

Marc Jacobs wants you to get wet

Dress of the day - Mona Sweater Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

Wear this, and it will look like you're just wearing a pink sweater and black skirt, but in reality this is a body-hugging sweater dress. One look at the back (pictured after the jump) and you will see how the row of buttons goes all the way down to the "skirt" - fooled you, didn't it?

This dress is great if you have a tight midsection because there won't be any unnecessary bulges from layering the sweater and skirt (or worse, trying to tuck it in!) but if you're like the rest of us and need some help, there's always Spanx. Good thing tights are in this year!

Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring 2008

Marc Love

When it comes to designers my first love is Betsey Johnson but coming in at a close second is definitely Marc Jacobs. I was innocently cruising through Nordstrom.com when I stopped to check out the Marc by Marc Jacobs trunk show ... hello love. The love was so strong that I had to run over to the real Nordstrom to see these fabulous pieces in person.

The collection is wonderful and if I had to pick one collection to wear for Spring 2008 this would be the one. Some standout garments would definitely include the striped sweater jacket, which can be worn with dresses, shorts and jeans -- so versatile. I also like the yellow patent leather jacket it's a funky alternative to basic trench.

If you want the Marc Jacobs look without the price tag this Spring, look for bold colors (especially yellow), bows, and a 1960's retro vibe.

Stylin' sunglasses from Marc Jacobs

Filed under: Accessories, Style in the News

marc by marc jacobs aviator sunglassesFinally there are designer sunglasses that are affordable and great looking. Marc Jacobs has a great line of sunglasses this season from his Marc by Marc Jacobs collection. Most of the glasses in the collection are only $90.

$90 may not sound like an "affordable" to some but to those who are into designer sunglasses, you know that you can easily shell out anywhere from $200-$500 for a pair of sunglasses. Give your wallet a break and grab a few pairs from Marc.

Some of personal favorites are the over-sized wrap glasses that have the MJ logo splattered all over. I also love the aviator lenses, the plastic ones above are great for a casual ensemble and these metal aviators have a swankier look about them. This funky rimless design even comes in a variety of colors -- a new pair for every outfit.

You can find these glasses at Marc by Marc Jacobs boutiques, Nordstrom, and other fine department stores. Or if get lucky like I did, you can score a pair at the Nordstrom Rack for a cool $64 ... gotta love discount shopping.

I heart Marc Jacobs jackets

Once upon a time, I worked at a law firm as a legal assistant. The job was a relatively misguided attempt to determine whether or not I wanted to attend law school (I didn't) and to provide me with a chance to live in the same town as my boyfriend and decide whether or not I wanted to marry him (I did).

Anyway, I was mostly bored, answering the phone and trying to avoid filing duties, but I will never consider the job a loss. The reason, you might have guessed, has nothing to do with career ambitions and everything to do with Marc Jacobs. One of the law clerks who worked at the firm with me was the perfect combination of fashion savvy and financially flexibility. She wore the most amazing designer clothes nearly every day, but nothing ever made as big of an impression on my little fashion-starved heart than the day she walked in wearing a new Marc Jacobs jacket.

The minute she came through the door, I vowed that somehow, someday, I would own a Marc Jacobs jacket. Now, that day has not yet arrived (and as I type this is about 75 degrees outside so I guess I'm not in dire need) but I have not stopped searching for the perfect coat.

This Marc by Marc Jacobs jacket is perfect. Knee-length and double-breasted with button detail, welt pockets, and a vented back, and it's made of a super luxe solid wool felt. As shopbop.com so aptly put it, "If this coat doesn't have us loving the mod trend, nothing will."

The jacket is available at shopbop.com for $548.
