Dress of the day - Mona Sweater Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

Wear this, and it will look like you're just wearing a pink sweater and black skirt, but in reality this is a body-hugging sweater dress. One look at the back (pictured after the jump) and you will see how the row of buttons goes all the way down to the "skirt" - fooled you, didn't it?

This dress is great if you have a tight midsection because there won't be any unnecessary bulges from layering the sweater and skirt (or worse, trying to tuck it in!) but if you're like the rest of us and need some help, there's always Spanx. Good thing tights are in this year!

Marc by Marc Resort Collection '08

Filed under: Runway Trends, Style in the News

Designers are whipping up back-to-back collections as if they only take a couple of days, hours, or minutes to put together. Not even a week after the resort shows came to an end, the haute couture parades are in full-force right and every celebrity with even just a little bit of fashion cred is in Paris right now taking in all of the fabulous looks at fashion houses like Chanel and Givenchy.

Suffice it to say, those keeping up with all of the action via Style.com are probably experiencing a major case of whiplash right now trying to keep up with everything.

Marc Jacobs robbed by his own employee

Filed under: Style in the News

It's one thing to be robbed by stranger, but to have your possessions stolen by someone you know and trust: That's tragic and a total hot mess.

Kyle Avlia , a Marc by Marc accessories store manager, got busted for stealing $62,000 from the boutique. He got caught when he unapologetically told his fellow Marc co-worker Mike Okerson -- who had noticed the missing cash while doing a routine review of receipts -- the following: "I've been stealing the money from the money drops. I have been doing it for a while."

Can we say bold?

Apparently, the accused was even given a chance to repay the money without getting the cops involved, but when he failed to produced Okerson immediately called the Po Po.

So, the moral of the story: Don't mess with Marc Jacobs or his adorable jelly flats -- he's tougher than he looks and will totally throw you in jail.

Confirmed: Monica Botkier for Target

Last Week, Target announced that the bright young thing known as Richard Chai -- who helped launch Marc by Marc, revived TSE and won a Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation award -- would be the next designer for Target's ever-popular GO! International line.

And now they're spilling the beans about who's throwing down on the accessories side of things this summer:

Monica Botkier
will be the next renowned designer launching a limited-edition capsule collection with the mass retailer. The Botkier for Target collection will be available at select Target stores nationwide and at Target.com July 21 through Sept. 14, 2008, which means it will follow the upcoming Gryson for Target collection.

The New York babe is known for her motor-cycle inspired handbags, so anybody who hearts quality leather and metal zippers is in for a real treat.

In three words: I am excited! My first major handbag purchase was a black leather Botkier tote that I still love and carry to this very day. Monica's pieces are so well-made and I'm sure that her line with Target is going to be nothing short of amazing -- and inexpensive.
