Menswear Lable Buckler Honors Michael Jackson with Arty Window

Filed under: Style in the News

British menswear designer Andrew Buckler has long drawn on pop iconography from both sides of the Atlantic for inspiration.

Names dropped on its Website -- which manages to capture a level of excitement that rivals that for the opening credits of a classic James Bond film -- include Tommy Lee, The Rolling Stones, Liam Gallagher and Shia LeBeouf.

Now the Buckler outpost in New York City's SoHo has painted its storefront and window with a striking homage to Michael Jackson (Twitpic courtesy of Perez Hilton).

As of Friday, bouquets from Jackson fans were beginning to build up outside the Grand Street locale.

"Roguish American icons with a Brit edge," is how Buckler describes his ethos.

This just might be an early indication that we can expect to see muted Michael Jackson-inspired looks on several designers' runways come the Spring/Summer '10 menswear shows in September.

Matthew Williamson at H&M - Bright and Bold the Second Time Around

Filed under: Clothing, Celebrities with Style

It's a hot pink, canary yellow and acid green Fashion Alert for a budget-conscious Style Kings (and all you Queens, too)! The highly anticipated second wave of Matthew Williamson's high-low collaboration with H&M arrives in stores on May 14th -- as in tomorrow.

The collection is filled with vivid colors and patterns that are perfect for hot summer days and sultry nights. In addition to his drama-filled women's line, Williamson has also created his first menswear line. And it's not for faint-hearted boys! We weren't kidding about the hot pink (pants) or acid green (shorts). But if you have the nerve to wear them, and you get there early enough to actually score a pair, you (or your man) will be the hippest dude strutting the streets!

As we told you back in March, Wiliamson is thrilled that this collaboration makes his vision accessible to a wider audience. As much as he loves having his fashions grace the lithe -- and rich -- forms of Lindsay, Nicole and Eva Longoria, he says, "I want to share a glimpse of the Matthew Williamson world with H&M customers, by creating an aspirational lifestyle collection which is both exotic and fashion forward."

And if past experience is any indication, that entire aspirational audience will be lined up three deep by 6 a.m. on Thursday morning. So if you want in on the fabulous, grab a sleeping bag, rush your fine self over there and get in line!

Revealed, Kanye West's Hi-Top Louis Vuitton Sneaker

Filed under: Style in the News

Last week, Kanye West's highly anticipated sneaker collection with Louis Vuitton was finally unveiled at the luxury label's menswear presentation in Paris. Not only did front row guests get to see the pearly white low-top shoes that TMZ spotted the rapper donning a while back, but they also caught a first look at the candy-colored hi-tops 'Ye also made for LV.

While the sneakers are admittedly a little too rich for our blood, we imagine lots of luxury consumers and dedicated sneaker heads will be sporting a pair by this summer. Recently, the AP caught up with the man of the hour to discuss his project with LV and as usual, Mr. West doesn't fail to disappoint with the sound bites. Watch and enjoy.

Who Really Dressed Jeremy Piven at the Golden Globes?

Filed under: Men, Celebrities with Style, Red Carpet Trends

Jeremy Piven adjusts his tie on the red carpetAlthough award show men's attire is almost invariably dull and homogenized, it still plays a role in the important art of score-keeping between competing designers. So, what happens when two designers can't agree on who dressed an A-lister at the Golden Globes? That's what happened with Jeremy Piven's wardrobe at Sunday's awards. John Varvatos and Domenico Vacca both took credit for Piven's suit via press releases from their PR departments. So, who really designed it?

5 Trends in Men's Fashion We Hope to Leave in 2008 - Good Riddance

Each year, we see tons all sorts of short-lived fashion trends that, at the time, seem to have some promise, but look kinda stupid immediately thereafter. That's part of what fashion is all about, and it's cool. Still, every once in a while, we see a look that's so ugly, annoying, or inconvenient, that we hope that it will be stamped out with a vengeance. We''ve poured through our files and made a list -- and, of course we checked it twice -- of the Top 5 menswear trends of 2008 that we hope will die out as quickly as they arrived.

Check out our picks after the fold.

After his label got injected with some much-needed funding last year, Pugh got oh so elitist and opted to show his avant-garde space age spring '09 collection at Paris Fashion Week instead of in London. Now comes word that the wunderkind has his sights set on taking on the menswear game.

Fashion and function meet with the new 'Bullet-Proof Pocketsquare'

OK, so file this under things you never thought you needed -- but just might: military grade Kevlar handkerchief. The price is not available, but its purpose is obvious: to protect you from gunshot wounds at, presumably, swanky events where an elegant jacket and pocket square might be worn.

Japanese label redefines the "Sweat Suit"

Well here's another way to say it: instead of telling your co-workers they stink, you can simply get them a gift certificate for the Farago Aircool Suit. At $370 it costs a pretty penny, but avoiding their bad body odor is certainly priceless. That had to be what Japanese retailers, Aoki were thinking when they launched this line of suits which were developed with Shinshu University. In addition to stopping profuse sweating, this suit also deodorizes the wearer and has anti-bacterial benefits to kill the smell before it starts. If the suit isn't enough to stop the perspiration, you can also buy the t-shirt for $13, the polo shirt for $37 and the socks for $7.80.
