Fashion and function meet with the new 'Bullet-Proof Pocketsquare'

OK, so file this under things you never thought you needed -- but just might: military grade Kevlar handkerchief. The price is not available, but its purpose is obvious: to protect you from gunshot wounds at, presumably, swanky events where an elegant jacket and pocket square might be worn.

Japanese label redefines the "Sweat Suit"

Well here's another way to say it: instead of telling your co-workers they stink, you can simply get them a gift certificate for the Farago Aircool Suit. At $370 it costs a pretty penny, but avoiding their bad body odor is certainly priceless. That had to be what Japanese retailers, Aoki were thinking when they launched this line of suits which were developed with Shinshu University. In addition to stopping profuse sweating, this suit also deodorizes the wearer and has anti-bacterial benefits to kill the smell before it starts. If the suit isn't enough to stop the perspiration, you can also buy the t-shirt for $13, the polo shirt for $37 and the socks for $7.80.

Tip of the day: How to rock a white suit

Filed under: Men, Celebrities with Style, Style Tip of the Day

Alright so you want to wear a white suit. Phhhooo, this is a toughie. White suits often make a man appear like he thinks his ish don't stink. You know the type: majestic yet totally tacky, sexy yet a complete ago maniac, cool yet far from innocent. The bastards. Studs like P.Diddy and David Beckham are prime white suit candidates. And didn't Al Capone and Scarface wear them too? As you see it takes a heck of a man to rock this right.

So if you think you've got the stuff to pull a white suit off here are a few more rules to follow to make sure you're the dapperest don in the room.

Indie Designer Interview: Eric Niccoli of Orthodox

Filed under: Style in the News, Men, Interviews

For our ongoing feature, Indy Designer Interviews, Eric Niccoli,
Creative Director/ Designer, Orthodox Clothing, talks about the subculture of being an indy brand and the importance of wire transfers.

Typically we see "orthodox" with a religious connection. Can you explain how you employ it? In its purest definition, orthodox means an, "adherence to an approved form of doctrine, philosophy, or ideology." Here, at Orthodox, we are creating a lifestyle brand with its own personality and identity. This doesn't imply a perpetual monotony. Fashion evolves and so will Orthodox, but it will do so while retaining our own, peculiar DNA.

There's like 5 billion men's wear lines out there, why should I buy yours? Because we are the bestest in the whole wide world... kidding. We have created a look and feel that is unique in the marketplace. People want to feel unique. In a world of faceless multiplicity, people want to feel like they have identity. Clothing is one of the easiest ways of expressing one's personality and identity. So here at Orthodox we offer the medium of clothing as a means of self expression. We provide forwardly fashionable garments with an intellectually masculine aesthetic. And what man out there doesn't want to be a fashion forward, intellectual man?

Man, would you wear this? Men's fashion gets gangsta at London's Graduate Fashion Week!

Filed under: Runway Trends, Events: On the Scene, Men

If fashion is war, then consider Zandile Blay your embedded reporter. From fashion shows to stylish parties, she's there to cover it all -- from London to New York and everywhere in between. Read all about it from your favorite fashionista.

Boy oh boy was Monday all about the boys. As you know, I am your girl on the ground at London's Graduate Fashion Week, which is going on right now and gives British design students a chance to show off their skills. As usual, the bulk of collections that floated down the runway were for women. But somehow between all the floating chiffon dresses, ultra neon tights and cropped leather jackets, the menswear collections emerged triumphant.

Eton create world's most expensive shirt

We confess: we hadn't heard of Eton shirts before, but we probably should have, as the Swedish company is now celebrating its 80th birthday. In honor of the event, the company has created an ultra-special shirt with a price point well out of reach of everyone except the Hollywood glitterati.

Apparently nothing says "Yay! It's our birthday!" better than making a shirt from Egyptian cotton with diamond-encrusted studs and cufflinks. As far as we know, this makes it the most expensive shirt in the world, with a value of £23,000 ($46,700).

The shirt isn't yet available to buy, though: because it's a one-off, it is first... wait for it!... touring the world, making stops at Eton stores in Milan, LA and Stockholm before being auctioned for charity sometime in 2009.

In other words, this shirt has more diamonds than we ever will and is better traveled than us, too.

Barney's New York launches Versace menswear

Versace launched their updated "revitalized" menswears collection exclusively at Barney's this past week. Donatella hosted the big night. Aside from playing in the Versace display window made of tinfoil, she also spent time mingling with all the random celebrities who showed up. I'm pretty sure the guest list was made up of basically any A-lister in New York at the time, regardless of (lack of) connections with the fashion world.

Woody Allen was there. He says he loves Versace sweaters. And in the "How I wish I could have been a fly on the wall" conversation of the night, sources say that he had a little chat with Gossip Girls hottie Leighton Meester (seriously, who names their child Leighton?!?). Leighton told Woodie, "Donatella is, like, kind of the sh*t." Why would you say that to Woodie Allen of all people?

Now let's get back to the topic at hand -- fashion. The creative director of Barney's, Simon Doonan said, "Every guy wants a moiré suit. He just may not have realized it yet."

Guys, you heard the man. You want a moiré suit. Go out and buy one now. Simon's sending you subliminal message.

Browse through the gallery to see celebs and fashion greats at the event. Seriously, you don't want to miss Stephon Marbury checking out Patti LaBelle's nearly 64 year old rack, do you?
