LA Fashion Week: The line up

Filed under: Style in the News, Fashion Week

los angelesIt's almost that time again, Fashion Week -- this time in L.A. Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios in Culver City, CA will run March 9-13th showcasing L.A. designer's Fall/Winter collections for 2008. The preliminary list of designers has been officially announced to include the following designers:
  • Kelly Nishimoto
  • Orthodox Clothing
  • Julia Clancey
  • Whitley Kros
  • Octavio Carlin
  • Joseph Domingo
  • Suh-Tahn
  • Falguni Creations
  • Bow & Arrow by Alan Del Rosario
  • Lauren Conrad Collection
  • Maggie Barry for Xubaz
  • Nicholai
  • The Gallery
  • Jenny Han
  • Kevan Hall
  • Samora
  • Monarchy Collection
  • Ashley Paige
  • Pussycat Dolls
As you look at the line up there is probably a bunch of "who the hell's" floating out there but that is normal seeing as many of these designers are debuting their collections for the first time.

I am looking forward to seeing Ashley Paige, Jenny Han, Monarchy, and Orthodox. I also am excited to see two train wrecks unfold on the runway with the Lauren Conrad Collection and (vomit) the Pussycat Dolls -- why again are they showing at Fashion Week?!

Stay tuned because StyleDash will be there through the good, the bad, and the ugly.

Survival Guide: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Fall 08

New York Fashion Week is rapidly approaching (Feb. 1-8) and the excitement is building: the clothes, the fabulous people, the parties ... isn't it all lovely?! Of course it is, it is fabulous but there are also those nagging details that spin me into survival mode: the cold, the sleepless nights, and all the work I will be doing. Not one to let details get me down, I am ready for anything the big apple throws at me with my Fashion Week Survival Kit.

Give me coffee and vitamin C: 12 hour days in 5 inch heels requires two things: energy and defense. I will be hopped up to no end on my new favorite indulgence, the Skinny Latte from Starbucks. With only 90 calories this foamy drink will have me up for hours. While being up for hours can be fun it can be damaging to your health. I like to kick my immune system into high gear with a gulp of Emergen C and a chaser of Air Borne for good measure.

It's business time: While I wish I could just twirl around New York dashing from show to show like some celebutard but the reality is I will be working it -- literally I am going to be working the whole time. I can't possibly get any work done without my Mac Book for blogging, Moleskin reporter notebook for note taking and sketching during shows, and of course my business card holder for schmoozing.

For sanities sake: I can't leave the house without my trusty Blackberry in hand and I certainly can't leave those same hands unsanitized, so I always carry a little bottle of Purell with me at all time.

mercedes benx fashion week, los angelesFirst we visited New York, then peeked in on London, Milan, and Paris, and now, since some of us actually live here, we'll be galloping around the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Los Angeles at Smashbox Studios in Culver City. The week doesn't officially kick off until Sunday, October 15, but the festivities (yes, with all those pretty clothes and beautiful people, I call them "festivities") started gearing up this past week.

We'll keep you posted as we go along, and if you are going to be there, maybe we'll run into you!

Saks expands catalog with Mercedes

Filed under: Style in the News

There are some of us in this world who have to be stylish in every aspect of our lives. And then there are those of us who think that Saks Fifth Avenue, which is including a "signature edition" Mercedes Benz CL600 in its upcoming holiday catalog, is absolutely crazy.

Fashion Week Daily reports that Saks will have the Mercedes flagship -- designed exclusively for Saks -- for sale come Christmas.

Keeping to the Saks tradition, Mercedes got high-end with its color-naming scheme for this car -- a "Mystic White" exterior, "Porcelain nappa leather", and a "Piano lacquer black" wood-grain interior.

Just in case you're aiming to complete your stylish repertoire with such an item, get ready to spend big -- last year's version sold for around $145,000. Pricing hasn't been announced for this year ... but in my mind, there's little doubt Saks will sock it to us.
