NY Fashion Week: Charlotte Ronson

Charlotte Ronson NY fashion week spring 2008
I wasn't even going to write about the Charlotte Ronson because I figured no one would know or care who Charlotte Ronson was. In all honesty, you need to know who Charlotte Ronson is because her runway show was awesome.

London native, Charlotte Ronson was born with the gift of a unique sense of style. At a young age she started making funky designs out of vintage shirts for her friends. This branched out to become her first collection and before you know it she was opening her flagship store in New York City. Ronson's designs have become favorites among celebrities like Kate Moss, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, Jessica Simpson, Mischa Barton, and Gwen Stefani.

Now that you have had your fashion lesson, back to the show ...

First of all the show reminded me of high school. I felt like she grasped all of the cliques looks and threw them together on a runway. There were goofy glasses, preppy cardigans, 70's inspired plaids, and nonchalant stoner gear.

I loved it.

I can tell that these looks (especially by their Hollywood following) will be big hits in the Spring. Especially the wide leg pants, high waisted shorts, and plaid. Yellow, grays, black and white were also star players in this collection so keep a look out for that palette to be in your closet in Spring '08.

Overall rating: Gimme some more. Many of these looks/ pieces will be in my Spring 2008 wardrobe.

NY Fashion Week: L.A.M.B.

New York Fashion Week spring 2008
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is officially here and in full swing! So what better way to kick off the Spring 2008 coverage on Style Dash than with my favorite celebrity fashion line, L.A.M.B.

Tonight, the Tent in Bryant Park was filled with celebrities including; rapper Eve, America's Next Top Model judge Nigel Barker, R&B singer Mya, American Idol Carrie Underwood, and, of course, hubby Gavin Rossdale and son Kingston-- who all had one thing in common, they wanted to see what Gwen had in store for us for Spring '08.

The color palette was predominately black and white (totally No Doubt Hella Good days) with the occasional splash of color. The plain palette was nothing close to boring, with bold graphic prints and a little leopard print (which was also black and white) the show has me mesmerized.

The collection translated many of the hot trends for Fall 2007 including menswear influences, plenty of mod touches, and even the biker babe look was worked in. The end result was oh-so-Gwen. It was the perfect harmony of trends that created that super hot Tom-boy look that we have all grown to love on Gwen Stefani.

Some notable pieces from the show, for me, were the side-button skinny pants which were a nice update to the typical skinny pants we have been seeing all year. Another trend revival that was pretty interesting was the over-sized flower broach. The broaches didn't reek of old episodes of Sex and the City either, as they were hip and fresh. And for those who picked up a pair of plastic Ray Ban sunglasses this summer you can hang onto them for Spring 2008, most of Gwen's models were rocking those in white.

Overall rating: Hella good. I would max out my credit card for this collection.

NY Fashion Week: Nicole Miller

Nicole Miller has proven that yellow isn't going anywhere. What was once just the "it" color for Summer '07 and a bold accent for Fall '07, now seems to have some real staying power in fashion world as it returns for Spring 2008.

Nicole Miller's collection nailed the subtle and sexy sophisticated of the modern women. Her color palette had a mixture of what every woman should have in her closet; black, white, shades of gray, soft neutrals, pastels including a soft blue and splash of violet, and as mentioned above ... yellow.

The pieces in her Spring 2008 collection were also filled with staples. Lady-like pencil skirts, high waisted pants, and blouses that will outfit you for the office. A nice selection of flowing gowns that would be lovely for a formal event and long flowing dresses in bohemian prints that are a bit more toned down. The military inspired jackets and walking shorts could easily take you into a weekend look. There was even a sexy little number; a black and gold mini dress with an open back that would work on a hot date.

My impression of the show was that it was versatile, a little something for everyone. Versatile is good for your closet but it didn't quite read well for me on the runway. And on a side note, Nicole Miller's models looked extra hungry.

Overall rating: I could take it or leave it, well I would take it if someone gave it to me in a heart beat.
