The US Army launches an all-out fashion offensive

Army Navy surplus stores have long been a goldmine for Che Guevara wannabees and indie fashionistas, but they no longer have to hit up Bob's Camo Hut for certified Army styles. Taking a cue from the popularity of military styles and camo, the US Army has decided to cash in by launching its own line of military-inspired styles at Sears. It's called All American Army Brand's First Infantry Division (kind of a ridiculously long name, right?), and it's sure to be covered up in official Army insignias and patches.

The Army's lineup of t-shirts, hoodies, denim, and outerwear for both men and women will be available exclusively at that bastion of high fashion and good taste: Sears, Roebuck & Co -- we know that's where you do most of your shopping. The price point for the line spans from $11.99-$119.99, which should make the line a great recruiting tool for the Army -- and make them a little extra cash, of course.

Vintage Red makes shirts we love

Filed under: Events: On the Scene, Style in the News, Clothing, Vintage and Retro, Men, Fragrance

Vintage Red's latest contribution to our closet is inspired by world travels, beers in Bali, and long laughs shared with "citizens of the world." It is a meeting of the travel inspired and the classically western, and it fits nicely.

Their Spring '08 line consists of three collections that are as distinct as they are similar. Tricky, that. They are split into Military Neutrals, Coastal Living, and South of France, respectively, and while there are the occasional pair of shorts or printed t-shirts, the majority of the line is button up shirts, both short sleeves and long.

Library of Congress Unleashes Fashionable 1930s-40s Photos on Flickr

Library of Congress adds fashionable photos from 1939-1945 to FlickrI just found out about the amazing collection of color photographs from the 1930s and 1940s that the Library of Congress has just made available via Flickr. This set is comprised of over 1,600 photographs taken during the Great Depression and World War II. Being a history geek and a huge follower of vintage fashions, I naturally found this collection extremely inspiring.

This is a massive collection of photos to sift through. Believe me -- I know because I just did it. But I did manage to gather some of my favorite fashionable photographs from these collections. They are filled with beautiful colors, amazingly coifed hair, utilitarian and military stylings, and loads of fashion inspiration. If you're a fan of vintage or retro fashions like I am, I urge you to take a peek, or check out the Library of Congress blog for more info on this amazing project.
