Tip of the day: You are what you eat

Filed under: Style Tip of the Day

Juicy! There is no denying the truth behind the phrase, "You are what you eat." A perfect example is the huge zit you always get after housing a greasy pizza. You can also put a positive spin on the saying and change the way you eat for good.

Summer is the best time to kick start better eating habits for your skin, hair, body, and even your mind. There is so much juicy fruit and yummy grilled chicken around that it's easier to say no to macaroni salad and the ice cream man.

Dress of the Day: Daryl K Black Leather Zipper Dress

Filed under: Clothing, Dresses, Must Haves

daryl k black leather zipper dressSome Friday nights all we want to do is get home, tear off our work clothes, slip into our flannel PJs and flip through trashy fashion magazines in front of the fireplace until we fall asleep at 9 PM.

Some Friday nights we want to make a quick change in the car from "business casual" into hot LBD, kick off our flats and throw on a pair of 5" stiletto heels with an ankle strap, and head out to cause some trouble.

At first glance, Daryl K's dress fits the bill for little black dress with it's high collar with a modest cut-out at the neck, but when you look again, it's also hot because it's made of leather and trimmed with zippers up and down two sides of the front, and at the pockets. The dress is on sale at Milk for $287 (originally $410).

Say goodbye to your milk cartons

Filed under: Fashionable Food, Style for a Cause

With retailers like Wal-Mart and Home Depot offering shelf-space preference to green products, it's no wonder that companies are clamoring to redesign their packaging.

But earth-friendly packaging for the milk industry? In what other than a carton or a bottle could you possibly sell milk?

Apparently, you can sell it in a bag. Calon Wen, an organic dairy co-op in Wales, now packages milk in polythene bags, which can then be transferred by consumers into reusable milk jugs made from glass. Compared to a plastic milk jugs, which account for 100,000 tons of trash a year in Wales alone, polythene bags use 75% less plastic.

Sure, polythene bags make environmental sense, but will it catch on with consumers? My guess is yes. Milk in a bag is oh-so-astronauty. And if there is one thing that sells stuff it's astronauts. The exception to this rule would be adult diapers, which I imagine will never recover from the PR disaster they took earlier this year.
