The holiday season brings with it some specific stresses. While we love to shop, spending hours and hours at the mall, standing in line to buy things we're not even sure our friends will like can take a toll on our mental state. And then, add the following into the mix:

The sunny tartness of lemonade is a summer time favorite, plus it's fun and easy to make. Some lemons, some sugar, ice, a glass and you're in business. The non-carbonated kind we drink here is a particularly American version, and it's a part of many family traditions, sipped on the porch after supper and sold from countless lemonade stands in suburban driveways.

Part of the fun of lemonade is it's versatility. You can add other fruits, like ripe raspberries, for a juicy hybrid surprise, or a garnish of mint to make it a garden party. And for those over twenty-one out there, well you probably already know how well vodka fortifies a tall glass of citrus goodness. Ginger, pink and strawberry lemonade are all someone's favorite.

I love soft, neutral colors. I love 100% silk with satin banding. I love the comfort and ease of a wide, open neckline that doesn't choke and short, ruffled sleeves that don't get in my way. I tend to switch out my fragrances by season. Summer is for citrusy and fruity scents, while during the winter I prefer heavier scents with a sandalwood or amber note. But I didn't realize until recently that I usually end up switching soaps too. In the summer time, I tend to go for lemon, rose or lavender. Once the weather starts getting chillier my choices shift toward the minty or spicy options. Some of my favorites for the chillier months include:

1. Sappo Hill Oatmeal Soap: It's cheap, it's good for your skin and it smells like oatmeal cookies.
2. My Beautiful Soap Pumpkin Spice: They sell this at my local market, it has a great pumpkin pie scent.
3. South of France's Rosemary Mint: The mint smell and slight cooling effect makes it a bracing choice on a sleepy winter morning.
4. Philosphy's Hot Toddies Collection: apple cider, eggnog and cocoa soaps, yum.
5. Singing Olive: I haven't tried these yet but the collection of wreaths and snowmen could put a grinch in a festive mood and come in scents like peppermint and "Christmas splendor."

I've been a little bit skeptical about the new breath-freshening lip glosses. They sound great in theory, but for nights that I've eaten some seriously pungent Indian food and am headed to a club afterwards I'm going to need more breath help than a minty lip gloss.
